Epilogue
Hermione and Severus took their places at the head table while they waited for the sorting to begin. So much had happened these past fifteen years since Harry and Voldemort had died. She and Severus had left Hogwarts and Great Britain even. They lived in France for five years. Both did potions research at the time. Plus, Hermione had their two children, Ariadne, who was now thirteen and in Ravenclaw, and Alexander Harry, who was eleven and being sorted this year.
As for their potions research, they found out how well the Anti-Killing Potion worked. They never could get it to last more than through two killing curses per dose. They won the wizarding equivalent to the Nobel Prize. Their achievements with this potion made the Killing Curse null and void, but it didn’t seem to stop the bad wizards from figuring new ways to kill someone, of course.
Ten years ago, Dumbledore had died from old age. His health went downhill after Harry had died, and he never recovered. McGonagall was now the Headmistress of Hogwarts and Flitwick was Deputy Headmaster. Hermione enjoyed watching the little wizard try to put the Sorting Hat on top of the first years’ heads. He was not even as tall as most of them, and she thought it was rather endearing.
It was not long after Dumbledore had died that McGonagall had offered Severus the Defense Against the Dark Arts position and offered her the Potions position. They both accepted and thus came back to Hogwarts to live with their two children, who grew up in the castle and amongst the other students.
When they returned, several people were happy to see them, including Ron and Draco. Draco had met a nice Muggle boy, and they had gotten married. Draco used his father’s money to create a program in Harry’s name for orphan wizarding children, so they could attend Hogwarts without having to worry about the money for supplies. Draco and his husband had also adopted two children whose parents had been killed during the second war. As for Draco’s father, he died in Azkaban along with several other Death Eaters that had been captured when Harry and Voldemort died.
Ron had married Lavender Brown, and they had three children and one on the way. The oldest was thirteen and was friends with Ariadne. Ron worked for the Ministry as an Auror. She noticed that there were four children with red hair, and she figured that they must be the twins set of twins. There were the twin girls and the twin boys, and she hoped that they would be less trouble than the Weasley twins were before.
The Sorting was just about to be started as the first years were coming into the Great Hall. “How many children named Harry do you think we’ll get this year?” Hermione inquired. Since Harry had died heroically, many children had been named Harry. Last year alone, there were seven first years with that name.
“Too many for my tastes,” Severus stated. He had not wanted to even give Alexander the middle name ‘Harry’, but Hermione won out with that one.
She slightly huffed. “It’s not a bad name, Severus. At least, we got one Albus last year. That was new.”
He nodded. “True. It’s too bad he is nothing like the old Albus. He’s almost as bad as Longbottom was.”
She hit him under the table. “Neville was my friend. You just scared him half to death in potions.”
He couldn’t help but chuckle. “I did scare him, didn’t I?” He noticed her glare and gave her a playful smirk. He enjoyed scaring Longbottom. It was so easy.
She rolled her eyes. “Shh, it’s starting,” she told Severus.
“Ackerley, Harriette.” A small girl hopped onto the stool and was soon sorted into Ravenclaw.
Sarah Baddock was next, and she was sorted into Slytherin, which had three more students sorted into it.
Harry Gudgeon was the first Hufflepuff.
Fifteen students had passed by and were sorted between Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff until Cormac McLaggen Jr. was first sorted into Gryffindor.
Soon, it came time for Alexander. “Snape, Alexander.” Both Hermione and Severus smiled as they looked at their son take his seat on the stool. Alexander favored Hermione more than Severus. He was 4’9”. He had a baby face with chocolate brown eyes. His hair was a dark brown and wavy. He acted more like Severus at times though. He was very good at potions, and he just seemed overly ambitious. Hermione and Severus had been betting on which house he would be sorted in. Hermione was hoping for Gryffindor, but Severus swore that he would be in Slytherin. Then, they heard the answer. “SLYTHERIN!” Alexander hopped down and went over to the Slytherin table.
“I told you so,” Severus whispered in her ear.
“I was right about Ariadne though,” she stated. Their beautiful daughter looked more like Severus. She was tall and thin with long black hair and piercing black eyes. She had her father wrapped around her little finger, and she was absolutely brilliant as she was the top of her class.
He conceded as much. Hermione knew that Ariadne would be in Ravenclaw. He wasn’t disappointed by this, but he still hoped that she would have been in Slytherin too.
The set of Weasley twins were the last ones sorted. The entire group entered Gryffindor. “The Weasleys are always in Gryffindor,” Hermione commented with a grin.
“No other house would want them,” Severus stated and then winced as she pinched his leg for his comment. The feast had begun, and he looked at his beautiful wife. “At least there are only three children named Harry this year.”
“And one named Harriette,” Hermione reminded him as she caught her son’s eye and gave him a warm smile. She still wished that she had gotten one Gryffindor. It was still a possibility, and she looked at Severus. “Both children are now in their own places. We have our quarters to ourselves.” She placed her hand on his leg and ran it up and down.
Severus’ eyebrow arched. “Do you have something in mind, Miss Granger?” He often called her Miss Granger when he was in a naughtier mood.
She gave him a suggestive look. “Perhaps we should try for a Gryffindor.” She placed her hand on the growing bulge in his pants.
He hissed with pleasure. “Perhaps we should.”
She grinned. Things were the way they should be in the wizarding world, and it looked like they might soon be giving Ariadne and Alexander a new brother and sister, if all went well. Through all their doubts, their desires won out.
The End
A/N: Again, thank you for reading and reviewing. This is the end of the story. I plan to get back to writing I'll Forget You next.
