Draco whistled all the way to the office conference room for the usual Monday morning briefing. It was a cool September Monday. He smiled at Harry as he entered the room and took a seat next to the scarred wizard who canted his eyebrow upwards at his former adversary. Harry nodded at Draco questioningly but shook his head as the meeting began. He would have to find out afterwards why his friend was in a chipper mood.

“All right, people, you have your assignments for the week. Let’s get to it,” the head of the Criminal Investigation Department nodded at his team to end the briefing. Everybody began to vacate the room. Harry walked out with Draco.

“So,” Harry said as he waved his hands.

Draco smiled at him and started to walk away.

Harry caught him at his office. “Oh come on, Draco,” Harry said as he leaned against Draco’s desk.

“Why didn’t you tell me she was going to be there?” Draco asked his former enemy with a slight smirk.

“You two didn’t hex each other, did you?” Harry asked amused.

Draco laughed aloud. He took a deep breath. “She’s mellowed out . . . a lot.”

“We could say the same for you,” Harry said as he took the seat in front of the desk.

“We ate at a muggle tapas bar,” Draco said. “It was amazing. Did you know it was her birthday on Friday?”

Harry nodded. “Almost forgot. Ginny owled her on Saturday with a card and some goodies from Honeydukes.”

Draco nodded. He looked at Harry again and squinted as he tried to find the right words to say. “I met her kids,” he began as Harry nodded. “They’re amazing.”

“Yeah, Manny and,” Harry began and then paused slightly. “Reyna are great kids.”

“What do you know about this Torres guy?”

Harry smiled at Draco. He took a deep breath. “He’s a good guy.”

“Yeah,” Draco said nodding. “That’s what Hermione said.”

“So how was the dinner with Roxanne and the Sterlings?” Harry asked.

Draco seemed distracted. He looked back at his old classmate dazed.

“The dinner on Saturday, Draco,” Harry asked again.

“Oh,” Draco finally shook himself. “It went fine.”

Harry nodded. “Well, I’m going to my office. I’m glad there wasn’t any fireworks between you and Hermione,” Harry stood up, again choosing his words. He observed Draco’s reaction. “I’d hate to think I would have had to do some tidying up.”

Draco nodded trying to digest the wizard’s words. Harry left the blonde haired wizard slightly puzzled.
