Chapter Twenty-Two: The Light and The Dark

Harry was running full tilt down the hallway, a tall but skinny man was chasing him as he went. The man was catching up and Harry looked over his shoulder and stumbled. He caught himself and tried to put more speed into his legs. He had a stitch in the side of his chest and knew he couldn't run much longer. How long had he been running for? It seemed like hours. Where was Draco? He wasn't here helping to protect Harry.

Harry took his chances and looked over his shoulder again. The man was no where to be seen. Harry ducked into a room and shut the door quietly. He slid down it, breathing harder then he was while he was running. Where had the man who was chasing him gone? He had just dissapeared. Why was he running again? He couldn't even remember. The man who was chasing him looked more like he was floating, rather than running.

The door behind him gave a sudden lurch. Someone had smashed into it. Harry stood up quickly and looked around the room, seeing another door on an opposite wall.

'Please don't let this be a closet' He prayed to himself as he approached it. He opened it and seen that it wasn't a closet at all, but a circular room with doors all around it. He looked back in time to see the door he had been sitting against fly open. He slammed the door he had just came through and suddenly all the door's around the room were spinning. It was so dark that Harry could barely see, but he could make out the blur of all the doors spinning around him.

When they finally stopped spinning he threw open the first door in front of him and ran through it. He didn't slam it shut, he was beyond that thought. Why was the frightening aspect of the situation just catching up with him now? He had entered a room that had a dias in the middle of it, and large stairs that descended to a veil that was fluttering as though there was a breeze, but Harry was sure that there was absolutely no wind in here. He couldn't feel it. He quickly jumped down the stairs and tried to make himself un-noticable. What was going on?

Suddenly a door that Harry hadn't seen opened. It opened higher than the floor that looked down at the veil. There was a set of stairs leading up to it and a small platform that served as the landing to the door. Harry looked up and seen a man come through. He wasn't running, and seemed to be in absolutely no rush. He had a long purple wizard's hat upon his head and it matched his robes perfectly. There seemed to be a light that surrounded Albus Dumbeldore. Harry had to squint when he looked up at the man. Dumbeldore moved forward on the platform and a couple more people followed him through. People he was positive he had never seen before in his life. There was a small woman with bubble-gum pink hair, a weathered looking man with shaggy black hair, a man with flaming red hair and horn-rimmed spectacles, and a man who had chunks of his face missing, and he had one shockingly blue eye.

"Harry!" Dumbeldore called, looking down the stairs and spotting the boy immediatly.

'Am I that bad at hiding?' Harry asked himself quickly. Funny how one can be so frightened, and yet find humor when they feel they are at the point of their demise.

"Harry! Come up here. Quickly!" Dumbeldore shouted.

Now Harry wasn't sure if this was the man who was chasing him. Dumbeldore wouldn't be able to keep up with him, and he certaintly didn't float. He wasn't positive, so he had stayed put.

"Please Harry! You are in danger, and we need to get you out of here now!" The pink-haired woman called down to him.

Now Harry felt more scared then ever.

"Why were you chasing me?" He called up to the gray-haired man.

"We weren't chasing you Harry!!" Dumbeldore called back. "Please, Come up here!"

Harry started to slowly ascend the staircase. The headmaster had sounded panicked, and Harry was pretty much positive that he didn't panic over little things. If Dumbeldore wasn't chasing him, then who was? Obviously Dumbeldore and his group knew.

"Who was chasing me then?" Harry called up, starting to feel a new fear. The unknown.

"We will explain it to you when we get you out of here." He was told.

He started to climb faster now. Right when he got to the main floor the door Harry had come through emitted someone. The light that was surrounding Dumbeldore's group was not apparant on the unknown's. He seemed to be bathed in a darkness that Dumbeldores light couldn't puncture.

"Harry!" a familiar voice called out to him. "Harry, come here!"

Harry stopped, he was shaking now, and he new that he did not want to go over there.

"Draco?" He asked.

"Yes Harry. It's me! Come over here! Please!" Draco pleaded.

"I can't see you Draco! Who are you with? Why weren't you there to help me? Someone was chasing me!"

"Harry!" Dumbeldore called again. "Come over here Harry. Into the light!"

"I was chasing you Harry! Why where you running?" Draco asked.

"I.."Harry stopped. It wasn't Draco who was chasing him. The person who was chasing him was tall. Very tall. And much to skinny to be Draco. Draco was lean, but he was muscular. The man chasing him had seemed like skin and bones.

"Why won't you come out where I can see you?" Harry asked.

Draco stepped forward so the light touched him. As he moved Harry seen someone else move behind him.

"See Harry? It's just me." Draco said.

"Who are you with?" Harry asked while backing away.

"No one, I'm alone."

"No you're not. I can see someone else behind you."

"No Harry. It's only me."

Harry felt his foot hit the bottom stair. He reached over and grasped the banister with his right hand and started feeling his way backwards up the stairs. Draco hadn't moved. He just watched Harry back away, and he had a mean glint in his eye. Draco turned to the person he was with and said, clear as day, "You're right. He's turning. Kill him."

Harry had a moment to feel shocked when he seen the snakelike face of their Lord emerge from the darkness. Voldemort pulled his wand from within his robes and looked at Harry with a stare full of loathing. "I couldn't kill you then! But I will now!! Avada-"

*

Harry's eyes shot open and he sat up quickly. There was a pain in his scar like he had never felt before, It was burning and colorful stars were popping up in front of his eyes. He could faintly hear himself groaning, before he turned over and vomited violently all over the floor. He could feel the sweat all over his body, but he was shivering horribly.

"Harry? What the hell?" Draco asked, Harry could faintly hear him.

Harry was shaking violently and couldn't stop heaving. His vision was starting to fog up, his scar felt like it was on fire and literally cracking his head in two.

Harry was actually willing himself to die at this moment. The pain was so horrible, he just wanted it to stop. He felt himself fall off the floor, right into his own sick.

Draco leapt off the bed and leaned over Harry. His eyes were going back into his head, so all Draco could see were the whites, and he was shaking so badly that it almost seemed like convulsions. Was he having some sort of fit?

"Harry!" Draco called, grabbing onto Harry's upper arms.

Harry suddenly went limp. He stopped convulsing and he stopped retching, but his eyelids also slammed shut and he didn't seem to be breathing.

Draco leaned over him and put his ear to Harry's mouth. Okay, so he was breathing. Just barely.

"Harry! Wake up!! Please, please wake up!" Draco cried.

Harry didn't respond.

Draco stood up and pulled Harry from the floor, pulling him from the vomit that he was laying in. Draco put him onto the bed and grabbed towels out of the bathroom in their room. He threw the towels on the floor, covering up the sick and went back into the bathroom. He grabbed a face-cloth and wet it with cold water. He didn't know if this was going to work, but he could remember his mom putting a cold washcloth in his forehead when he was younger and ill.

He wrung the cloth out and took it into the main room. He folded it neatly and placed it on Harry's forehead.

"Please wake up." He said quietly. "I would be nothing without you."

Harry didn't move.

Draco wiped up the vomit on the floor and waved his wand, effectively removing the dirty towels from his presence.

Draco looked closer at Harry and seen that he was shaking.

Could it be possible to have such horrible dreams that it literally scared the life out of you?

Draco didn't think so. There must be something physically wrong with him. Draco inspected Harry's body closely, turning him this way and that so he could see al angles. He couldn't see any lacerations or marks that would prove his theory.

Could a dream about the Dursley's have caused this? They had a huge negative impact on Harry's life.

Draco pulled the blankets up to Harrys chin. He turned and walked to a chair that was in their room. He pulled it to the side of Harry's bed and sat in it. He would not go to sleep until Harry woke up.
