Author’s Note: Hermione is going to be a bit dark. This doesn’t follow with OTP or HBP. Sirius Black is alive and in my story Severus is a pure blood. Just so you know.

Our Paths Cross Again

Chapter 21

Severus spoke to Albus and convinced him to allow him and Hermione to head out into London for the day. Now the hard part, convincing Hermione. It was now Wednesday. Hermione was sitting in her sitting room. She and Severus had just finished dinner. Finally Severus cleared his throat.

“Hermione, what do you say that Saturday you and I get away from the castle for the day?” Severus asked.

“Severus, are you sure that’s wise? I mean Those Death Eaters will jump at the opportunity to catch us away from Hogwarts. Especially you.” Hermione replied as she sat her book aside.

“I’ve already spoken with Albus. He thinks that it would do you and I some good. You know that he knows we’re in love. Besides, he assures us that there will be Auroras and Order members nearby.” Severus said.

“What brought this on?” she asked suspiciously.

“Look, I know you hate Valentines Day and so do I. I just thought that for a few hours you and I could go out as a normal couple. Just pretend that all this is over. Come on. You and I could both use the time away from this castle and just time with us.” Severus said as he sat beside her on the couch and took her hands in his.

“Fine. Where will we be going?” she sighed.

“I figured we could have breakfast here, then head out to take in the shops in London. Have lunch and then catch an afternoon movie.” he answered.

“You? Going to the movies?” she asked with a smile.

“Yes. I occasionally go to see movies.” he laughed.

That night as they slept, Remus sat in his living room at his cabin. He wore a large smile. As soon as he left Severus’s classroom the other night, his mind began planning. He knew Hermione and he knew Severus. He knew the perfect thing that would show Hermione just how much Severus loved her. And hopefully he could incorporate Hermione’s feelings for Severus as well.

“This is perfect.” Remus said to the empty cabin.

The week passed. Saturday morning dawned partly cloudy and cool. Severus and Hermione entered the Great Hall. The hall was decorated for Valentines. Hearts and cherubs floated through the air.

“Good morning you two.” Albus greeted.

“Morning.” Hermione and Severus replied.

“What are you two planning?” Minerva asked.

“Severus has insisted taking me out to London. He has already cleared it with Albus and Albus said there will be Auroras and Order members there as well.” Hermione answered.

“You two enjoy yourselves and please be careful.” Minerva smiled gently.

After breakfast Severus and Hermione left the castle. Five minutes after they apparated, Remus appeared and hurried to Severus’s chambers. He locked the doors and looked around Severus’s chambers.

“Time to get to work.” Remus said as he began rubbing his hands together.

Severus and Hermione were currently walking through downtown London. Severus insisted they stop in at Harrods.

“Severus, why are we here?” Hermione asked.

“I figured we could do a little shopping. After all, doesn’t a woman like to shop?” Severus asked.

“Hello and welcome to Harrods.” the young sale’s clerk greeted.

For two hours Severus and Hermione shopped. Severus bought a few new suits while Hermione bought some dresses, skirts, tops and pants. As they left the store, they headed for a quite café nearby.

“Do you have any idea how handsome you looked in those suits?” Hermione asked.

“Yes.” Severus answered with a smirk.

“Aren’t you cocky.” he giggled.

The pair had a quiet lunch then headed off to catch a movie. Severus took her to a theater that was showing old films. They sat down and watched 1925 version of Phantom of the Opera. It was one of Hermione’s favorite movie and play of all times.

“I can’t remember the last time I had such a fun Valentines Day.” Hermione said as they walked out of the theater.

“Me either. Come on, it’s nearly dinner and we need to be heading back.” Severus replied.

Severus and Hermione moved into a nearby alley. He wrapped his arms around her and the two apparated back to the gates of Hogwarts. As they made their way inside Hermione reached out and took hold of Severus’s hand.

Severus smiled down at her. This was the first time she had initiated physical contact in public. They walked in holding hands. Hermione started for the Great Hall, but Severus stopped her and started leading them to his rooms.

“I thought we could have a nice quiet dinner in my rooms tonight. Besides, you saw how the hall was decorated this morning.” Severus answered her unasked question.

Severus opened his rooms and led them inside. He opened the door to his sitting room. Hermione gasped in surprise. Severus smiled. He owed Remus and big time.
