The Quartet Meet Lily And The Marauder's
Chapter Twenty Two: The Quidditch Try Outs.

It was three days since the beginning of the new term had started. New Years Eve and day had been a blast. Harry officially changed his name over to Potter with Dumbledore’s help, they had used James's cousin story and Harry was given permission to use his own name once he returned to Hogwarts.

Laney had eventually asked her grandfather how his last week of the school term had been. Harry and James had nearly fallen of their chairs in horror and had to resist the urge to not shriek like girls, when Albus had replied "It was very pleasurable."

Daniel had made a strangled choking noise in the back of his throat. Lily and Petunia looked like they were going to be sick; while Remus, Sirius and Peter put the sandwiches they were eating a side. Ron, Hermione and Ginny had gone green as if they'd been imagining Voldemort in a blond wig and women’s lacy under garments and garters, dancing on the coffee table in front of them. Nyah and Landon who had been sitting in the corner were shaking with silent mirth. Everyone had celebrated the New Year after the clock had struck midnight in their bed rooms.

Everyone thankfully had stopped referring to Harry as James's clone when they were told he was his cousin, a cousin who also went under the name Potter, and had done under the name Parker so he was not discovered by James as he had no idea until Christmas that he had a cousin that looked like he could have been his twin brother.

Currently everyone was in the quidditch stands, James had invited Minerva to sit and watch the try outs so he could not be accused of favouritism. She had agreed with his point of view and that was how she ended up sitting in the stands talking to Lily and Hermione.

They watched as a male third year Gryffindor tried out for the position of keeper. He was worse then Ron was when he first became keeper, and he was really bad that just had to be saying something right there.

Four other Gryffindor's tried out for the same position, two of the female and two of them male. They were a sight better then the first boy who tried, but still neither was good enough to beat the technique and stamina Ron had perfected over the past three years. Ron had won the position hands down. Only Harry, Remus and Ginny were able to get the quathal past Ron at least once.

It was clear to see, even Minerva could see this, and Harry along with James was the best quidditch players on the pitch. Four girls and two boys had tried out for the position as the two remaining chasers. Harry and Ginny worked well together and were easily the best who tried out. They each won the positions as easily and fairly as Ron had.

Minerva took James to one side at the end of the try outs and told him "Mr. Potter I have seen everyone perform and I think Mr. Potter, Miss Weasley and Mr. Weasley are the best that have tried out. Its looks like we've got our team regardless of the fact you are all seventh years. That's even better, as next year the team can start out fresh and new with younger players."

So at the end of the week James had posted the sheet with the three new members of the team on it, out side Minerva's office. She had chosen the players so James could not be accused of favouritism. James was grinning like an idiot when he saw who had been picked; he ran back to the Gryffindor tower and up to the boy’s dorm where he knew the others would be.

He barged into the room and noticed everyone was sitting around just relaxing; only Harry's curtains were closed. James shook his head and quickly opened the curtains and sure enough James's suspicions had been confirmed, Harry and Remus were making out.

Remus grumbled "Geez Prongs did anyone ever tell you it's not nice to disturb your son and your friend?" James snorted "I wouldn't know ask me again in another seventeen years I'll be sure to let you know then." Everyone sniggered at James's quick reply.

Lily giggled "What on Earth has gotten you so excited James?" Lily asked. James grinned and told them, "I want everyone in this room all except Lily and Hermione, suited up and ready to practice every morning before breakfast."

James continued to grin broadly as he said "Lily, Hermione you are both currently in the presence of the new quidditch team of 1979." Lily and Hermione both grinned widely, Hermione asked "So you mean Ron is the new keeper and Harry and Ginny are the new chasers?" James nodded still grinning wildly.

Ron commented "Oh god now this I've gonna see, Harry as a chaser." Sirius grinned "I'm not surprised, you three were the best who tried out" Sirius told them. Remus grinned "So the team of 1979 consists of members, James Potter, seeker and captain, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew, the beaters, Ron Weasley, the keeper, along with Remus Lupin, Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley, the chasers" Remus stated with amusement.

"I like it, this years team is going to do some serious damage to the other house teams especially the Slytherin’s" Peter said. Ginny sighed miserably “Can you say father like son. He would have us out every morning at six a clock on the dot until eight thirty just as everyone else was getting up for the day. We were up at eight thirty on a Saturdays and only had Sundays off, so the Gryffindor team used to relish Sundays."

Sirius and James started laughing, Peter commented "Shit Harry that's creepy, you and James are definitely father and son." Harry started to protest when Remus looked at him in wonder. "Oh come on, at least I gave them Sundays off. And James I did say I never lost a game ever. How else did you think I achieved that? I sure as hell didn't do it by just sitting on my arse doing jack shit." James and the others conceded he definitely had a point there.

James said "Well in some sense compared to Harry I'm slightly worse, you will be on the pitch seven days a week, I don't take Sundays off and neither will you. I will have you all up at seven thirty on a Saturday mornings until nine thirty, and on a Sunday you will be up at nine a clock until lunch time. I like to practice for four hours a day."

Ginny mumbled "Err in second thoughts I apologize Harry your a fucking saint at least you gave us Sundays off." Everyone burst out laughing at that. Ron asked "Your not serious that can't honestly be our quidditch schedule."

Remus snorted "Believe it, he runs us bloody ragged." James smirked "Moony answer me this, have we ever lost a match?" Remus grumbled "No. We haven't even lost to the Slytherin's." James grinned smugly "Exactly my point Moony" James said.

Less then a week later after Nyah and Landon had found out, they brought the whole team new robes and protective pads and gloves. Remus had been right James did run them ragged. Ginny had been right as well compared to his father Harry was a saint. James hadn't been kidding they really were gotten up at nine a clock in the morning on a Sunday.

They had their first match of the season in the last week of January, against Ravenclaw. They unsurprisingly beat them 480 to 150. Minerva knew the chances of her house beating the houses to the house cup and the quidditch cup was more then likely going to happen.

Her team consisted of some of the best players in the entire school. She was thrilled that Harry was a natural player like his father, she couldn't wait for the future to see him as a seeker, he was bound to be even more spectacular then he was as a chaser.
