Chapter 22
--
“Come on Ron!
We have to go! Mum’s waiting for
us!” Ginny yelled as she made her way through the passage to the Shrieking
Shack.
“Gin…are you sure this is a good idea?style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I mean…we could end up dead…” Ron said,
voicing his uncertainties for the first time.
Ginny stopped in her tracks and rounded on her brother.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> “Ronald Weasley! Are you saying you just want to give up and let the Dark side
win? Are you saying that you are going
to stand by and let the Son kill the rest of our friends?style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Are you saying that you won’t stand with
your family against the person who killed your girlfriend?”
Ron stood silent for a moment, staring at the dirty floor
beneath his feet. He didn’t want to
die…he really didn’t. But he didn’t
want to disappoint his family. He
really did want to get Potter back for everything that he’d done in the past
few months. He just didn’t know if they
stood a chance. He thought back on his
past six years at Hogwarts. Each year,
he’d helped Potter stand against the Dark Lord. Each year he himself had survived. Maybe he could do it after all.
How much more powerful could the Son be? Everyone had a weak spot.
“Ok. I’ll do
it. Someone has to, after all,” he
finally said, finding his Gryffindor bravery at last.

Lucius Malfoy sat down in the courtroom in a box reserved
for the VIP’s. Umbridge had sent out
letters to all the governors as well as the top ministry officials informing
them of Fudge’s hearing. Apparently,
there was a lot of dissatisfaction with the way he was running things.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Lucius smirked at that thought.style="mso-spacerun: yes">
“Zabini, how are you this fine morning?” he said as Blaise’s
father took the seat next to him.
“Absolutely marvelous Lucius, and yourself?”
“Very much looking forward to today’s proceedings.”
A gavel rapping on a desk brought their attention to the
front of the room. Delores Umbridge was
seated at the judge’s chair, with Cornelius Fudge in the witness box.style="mso-spacerun: yes">
“I now call these proceedings to order!” she cried over the
din of the crowd. “This trial is to
determine whether or not Minister Fudge is capable of retaining his position as
Minister of Magic. First witness
please!”
Witness after witness was called, each of them describing
some incompetence Fudge had displayed over the years. Most of the witnesses were current Death Eaters, and many others
had been bribed. The trial lasted for
three and a half hours, and Lucius’ joy grew with each passing minute.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Finally, Umbridge settled everyone down for
the ict.ict.
“I find you, Cornelius Fudge, to be unable to adequately
perform the duties set to you as Minister of Magic, and hereby relieve you of
your position! Furthermore, due to your
immoral practices and obstruction of evidence in the return of the Dark Lord, I
hereby sentence you to no less than ten years in Azkaban Prison,” she
announced.
Cheers and clapping rang out through the courtroo Luc Lucius
smiled, very much satisfied with the way things turned out.
Umbridge again called for silence. “I will now take nominations for a new Minister of Magic.”
Lucius Malfoy stood up.
“I nominate Santino Zabini.”
Gregory Goyle Sr. also stood. “I second the nomination.”
A woman Lucius did not recognize stood. style="mso-spacerun: yes"> “I nominate Arthur Weasley!” she yelled,
glaring at Lucius.
“Oh, plemadamadame.
He could not even bother to be present at these proceedings.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Surely he does not deserve a nomination,”
Lucius sneered.
“Is Arthur Weasley present?” Umbridge asked.
“No he is not,” the woman said begrudgingly.
“Then he cannot be eligible. All those in favor of Santino Zabini for the new Minister of
Magic say aye!”
A loud chorus of aye’s rang out, and only one or two nay’s
could be heard.
“Nomination passed. Santino
Zabini will take the position of Minister of Magic.”

DAILY PROPHET SPECIAL REPORT!
Minister Fudge sacked!
Santino Zabini, suspected Death Eater takes his place!
Yesterday, before a council of Governors and Ministers,
Cornelius Fudge was found guilty of incompetence on the job and of obstruction
in the dealings with the return of the Dark Lord.yes"> The council saw fit to sentence him to no less than ten years in
Azkaban. The same council then elected
suspected Dark Lord supporter Santino Zabini to take his place.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Zabini was nominated by none other than
Lucius Malfoy, who has long been suspected of being the Dark Lord’s right hand
man.
It would now seem that the Ministry is under the Dark
Lord’s control. But that may not be as
bad as we all thought. Information has
recently come to play about the side of the so-called Light.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Apparently, one Albus Dumbledore knew all
along about the true parentage of the Dark Prince, and fabricatee pee persona
of Harry Potter. We have it from
reliable sources that He also orchestrated the deaths of Aurors Lily and James
Potter sixteen years ago. If that is
the behavior of the undisputed leader of the fight against the Dark Lord, does
that not make him just as dark?
Is the information true?
Did the esteemed Albus Dumbledore, defeater of Grindewald orchestrate
the deaths of two well respected and much loved members of wizarding society?
If so, why? The Potters were innocent
people, that much is known for sure. So
why did Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and
Wizardry murder two innocent people?
Should this information be true, can he be trusted with our world’s
youngest and brightest? Can he be
trusted around the rest of society?
Will he do it again? Inquiring
minds want to know…
