Chapter Twenty:
Harry and Draco went to bed that night with worry weighing down their hearts and minds.
When they awoke in the morning Draco jumped out of the bed quickly, and in his boxers ran down the hallway. He pounded on his parents' bedroom door loudly.
No answer.
He slowly opened the door and found that their bed was still neatly made.
"DOBBY!" He screamed loudly.
'Crack', "Yes young Master Malfoy?" came the squeaky voice of the house elf.
"Did my parents come home last night?" Draco asked quickly.
"No, Sir, not that I know of."
Draco sagged slightly.
Harry was walking down the hall towards him, he had thrown sweatpants on over his boxers, but his chest was still bare.
"Where in the hell could they be?" Harry asked sadly.
"I don't know. I'm seriously worried now though."
They walked down the hallway, and passed their open bedroom door, down the stairs and into the sitting room. "We'll wait a few hours, if they don't come we will contact Severus." Draco told Harry.
Harry nodded and slipped his hand inside Dracos.
They sat side-by-side on a comfortable chaise. They barely spoke, and when they did it was only a couple of words with reassuring nods.
Harry felt horrible. He knew that Draco would need someone to lean on, but it was weird being the one he would need. Harry had always leaned on Draco, not the other way around.
Hours passed, the boys didn't eat, or drink. They just sat in the sitting room, waiting.
Harry stomach grumbled.
"Come on, Draco, lets go get something to eat. We've been sitting here for 3 hours, and im starving."
"I'm not hungry." Draco mumbled.
"Yes, you are. Please Draco, we need to eat."
Draco looked at Harry and seen the concern etched into his features.
He let out a large sigh.
"Okay. Lets go."
As they were walking into the kitchen, "So what do you think that Granger meant by saying im not a Pureblood?"
"I don't know." Draco snapped. "This isn't really the time, Harry."
"Okay, I'm sorry. I was just trying to take our minds off of...your parents"
Draco had just opened the fridge when he heard an odd, strangled cry. He spun around and looked at Harry, who had turned and was looking behind him. They heard it again, but this time it was louder and Harry gave Draco a look of shock. Draco twitched forward and Harry grabbed ahold of his hand and pulled him back towards the sitting room, towards the odd harsh cries. They ran forward, and abrubtly pulled to a stop. Kneeling on the floor cradling her husbands head in her lap was Narcissa Malfoy. Lucius was hurt. Bad. There was blood surrounding him on the hardwood floor, and he hadn't been laying there for more then a minute.
"Mom" Draco screamed and ran forward.
Harry stood stock still.
"Sandor!!!!" She screamed hysterically, "Call Sandor!!!"
Her frantic screams had pulled Harry out of his stupor. He ran towards the fireplace and snatched some powder out of the pot at the side of it. He looked back and Draco was kneeling down over his father, taking in all of his injuries.
"Whats the address?" Harry yelled back at Draco.
"Thirty-four Lonesome Eco." Draco shouted.
Harry yelled it into the fire and stuck his head in the flames, his head was spinning crazily and then suddenly stopped.
"Sandor!!!" Harry screamed. He coudld see the bottom of chairs and table legs. and then a pair of feet running towards the fire. A face suddenly appeared in front of him. An old man with long graying hair. Harry didn't wait for Sandor to question him he just shouted "It's Mr. Malfoy! Please we need your help!!" And Sandor looked shocked.
"Lucius?" He asked calmly.
"Yes!!!" Harry screamed
"I'll be right there!" He said reassuringly.
Harry yanked his head back out of the fire and turned back to Lucius and seen that he was laying on the floor, twitching convulsively and making odd choking, rasping noises. Draco was covering him with a blanket and
Narcissa had sat back on haunches, tears pouring down her face.
"He's coming!" Harry said.
"Thank god!" Narcissa breathed between her chest heaving sobs.
Sandor burst out of the fire and walked swiftly towards Lucius. He immediatly knealt down and started pobing and prodding.
Draco and Harry pulled Narcissa out of the room. Sandor needed to concentrate, and she wasn't helping.
"What happened, Mom?" Draco asked immediately.
Narcissa shook her head and sobbed.
"Tell us, you don't know how worried we have been. Seriously Mom. What happened?"
Narcissa sniffled and looked at Draco through red-rimmed eyes.
"We were on a mission." She started slowly, a painfull expression on her face. "We had to go torture a muggle family in London, and we did. Everything was going as planned, but something happened to your father. It was almost like he had been hit with a mixture of the Cruciatus Curse and Killing Curse. The results were not good. Our Lord found out that someone had failed him and summoned us al back to him immediately. We went. I pulled your father along, a side-along apparation. As soon as we left the house the curse was lifted. Our Lord found out instantly who had done wrong, and he..he" She broke down again. Draco had never witnessed this in his entire life, "He tortured him. He almost killed him. Our Lord made me stay there and watch it all. As soon as Lucius is better we need to try and rectify our mistakes."
Narcissa broke down again, fat tears leaking out of her eyes. Draco and Harry helped her up the steps and took
her to her bedroom. They called Dobby to take care of her and retreated back down the stairs.
When they went back into the room, there was three people, instead of the two that had originally been there.
Sandor and this other man were working restlessly over Lucius. Lucius looked better already.
The man with the tatty robes and brown hair, flecked with gray, looked up when the door shut.
His eyes widened and returned to normal quickly. The boys weren't sure if they had imagined it or not.
Sandor noticed that Remus was no longer paying attention and looked up at him with curiosity in his eyes.
"Remus, a little help here?"
'Remus??' Harry thought. He took in the tattered robes and the still-young face of this man, and his memory flickered. Someone he recognized, but someone he had met while living in this house.
Remus shook his head and looked back at Lucius, continuing on with his work.
*******
After a few hours Sandor and Remus called it quits. Lucius was healed to the best of their ability. Sandor floated Lucius up the stairs to his bedroom. He made it very clear that he needed to rest, and not do anything physical for quite a while. He would hurt and he needed to heal. If one thing went wrong it might undo everything. That would be a bad thing as Lucius would probably loose his life.
Remus stayed downstairs.
"Harry?" He asked, as though his mind had been playing tricks on him for the last couple of hours.
Harry looked at this man, and as he did so Draco moved a step or two closer to him. Protecting him.
"Yes?" Harry asked, noticing that the man was eyeing his bare chest. Taking in the definaed muscles.
"My God...You're so big. Your what? Fifteen now? Amazing." Remus really did look amazed.
"Yep, fifteen." Harry said. "Erm..who are you?" He asked curiously.
Remus looked hurt for a moment, then decided not to be. "Remus Lupin." He said holding out his hand for Harry to take. "I'm Sandor's partner. Don't you remember when you first came here two men came over and healed you up. Gave you a lollipop?"
Harry understood now.
"Yes actually, I do. So thats how you know me." He said, releived.
"No, I actually knew you before then." Remus replied.
Harry's eyes narrowed.
"How?" He asked. He was certain this man had never been to Privet Drive.
"I was a friend of your mother and fathers." Remus said sadly.
Harry glanced at Draco. Draco looked...scared? Why would he be scared? Then Harry got an idea.
"Then you can tell me something, right?" Harry asked the man.
"I can try." Lupin told him
"Why did this stupid mudblood I know tell me I'm not a pureblood?"
Lupin looked apalled at Harry's language.
"Well...That would have to be because you aren't" Lupin told him seriously.
L.S- you always get me lol. Sirius will be around. Don't you worry. And never assume lol. Of course Peter didn't actually kill Lily and James:P
