Snape\'s Choice

Chapter 18

Percy meanwhile looked at the images through his mirror. The mirror was the few things that he had from his days working for the Dark Side. Lord Voldemort had treated him like a son and he laughed at the thought that they had gotten this little secret passed him.
\" Well it seems that Potter and Snape\'s lines will continue.\" He smirked to himself. \" Well as long as I allow it.\" He moved away from the mirror and mixed the potion together. Somethings in this world were meant to never live, and he laughed at the thought that Hermione Snape would be a widow soon enough.

Percy traveled back to Hogwarts and using a spell that Voldemort had taught him he slipped in without being detected. It was a disgusting sight to Percy. Hermione and Severus were asleep and Severus had his mouth open. He poured the potion down his throat and disappeared. At once Severus started to jerk and shake and then with a gasp his arm fell and he was no more. Severus Snape died in his bed with his wife next to him, but as with all things at Hogwarts fate had other plans. No sooner had he drawn his last breath but Hermione place her hand on his arm. At once his body glowed and then he caught fire and turned to ashes. A tiny sound came from inside and out came Severus Snape the Phoenix. It looked around and then settled in and slept.

Percy waited until he heard Hermione yelling for Severus. She called out to him, but he didn\'t answer. Of course he thought that this was odd, but he couldn\'t be caught at the school. He disappeared thinking that he would find out soon enough.
\" I can\'t find him,\" Hermione called to the Headmaster. don don\'t know whee\'se\'s at.\"
\" I know where he\'s at,\" said a painting. He explained to Dumbledore, Harry, Ron, and Hermione that Severus had been given a poison and that as he died Hermione had touched him and he had transformed into a tiny bird. He pointed to the bird, which Hermione hadn\'t noticed.

\" I don\'t believe it,\" Dumbledore exclaimed. \" Severus has been turned into a phoenix. Harry and Ron both looked at the bird and saw that it was alert.
\" Severus is that you?\" She asked. The bird nodded.
\" I don\'t believe it,\" Dumbledore again exclaimed. \" I really don\'t believe it, but of course we have no idea how powerful the magic that\'s inside Harry is. If it had the power to repair damage done to Severus by the hands of Tom, then I think we\'ve just discovered what else this magic can do.\" Harry and Ron were beyond words.

Hermione went over her husbands papers as they prepaired for a new Potions Master toe ove over. Hermione was upset and not because of what happened. Her child would grow-up without a father, or at least without a father that was human. She looked over her husbands last will in testement. And it stated that he wanted Harry to marry Hermione if something should happen to him. Hermione hated the idea of giving up what she loved, but she knew that he would of wanted that.

The next week Harry married Hermione since he was by all means a pureblood. The wedding was small just like it had been before. Severus the phoenix was there and so was Alister. Tonks was upset and her anger only grew when the painting yelled that a man that was watching the whole thing was the man that had given Severus the poison. Percy was taken away and that made Hermione happy, and soon she was enjoying herself. Harry couldn\'t believe that Percy would do something like this. Hermione then moved to the tower with Harry and they started to make plans for her. He wanted her to take it easy and rest. Hermione wanted to be in the library and work, though even Professor McGonagall agreed that Harry\'s idea was by all means for Hermione\'s own health.

Severus the phoenix stayed with the Potters and watched over Hermione. Professor Dumbledore believed that fate had chosen the best form for Severus, a protector.
