Voices at Dawn

IT was a warm August morning. You can see the different shades of colors passing through the clouds. The sun was not visible yet seeing that it is 6:50. Standing at the stop sign, Lily could feel the cool breeze pushing on her delicate skin.

‘I miss you’ she heard. Turning around as if expecting to see somebody there, saying those words. But there was nobody is sight. Everything was so quiet. She didn’t move. No cars passing. No birds chirping. No insects making its usually annoying sound. Lily stood their looking-waiting- for somebody or something to speak again. And it did.

‘I miss you Lil. I miss you so much.’ the voice whispered. It was so soft you could hear a pin drop and it was as if it was a boom dropping instead. Lily stood there in shock. Nobody was allowed to call her ‘Lil’. Nobody. Not her parents, teachers, even her closest friends. Why??? Because she doesn’t like the sound of it. Her name was Lily. And people should call her by her name. Lily. But there was only 1.....and 1 person only that she allowed to call her Lil. It sound so right when coming from his mouth. Whispering her nickname in her ears and she melt. So easily. Him.
But that is impossible. He’s in London. I’m...well here. Lily told herself.

‘anything can be possible’ a voice answered her.
who is that? Lily asked.
I’m you. I'm just in.....you head.

‘Well than who was that’. she asked again.
I think you know who it is. You just don't want to admit it because your afraid.

‘Afraid?? Afraid of what??’
How dumb can you get?? Or are you just being stubborn?? Like always when the subject of him comes up??? Your afraid that you will remember all of the great memories that you two shared. They way you used to love him so much.

‘That’s right. USED to love.’ Lily knew the voice was right, but she was not going to admitted..
NO. NOT used to love, STILL love. I’ll leave you know.’ and so the voice was gone. But she knew it would come back sooner or later. A single tear fell out of her eye before she could stop it. It has been exactly 1 month that she broke up with him. It was right after he came here to visit her. Her trains of thoughts were stop when she notice the bus com coming her way. Swinging the book bag over her shoulder, she climbed onto the bus and took her original seat.

Sitting in seat #3, she watches the house, stores, cars, and trees pass by. She sees the same thing over and over again each day, but always seem to find something interesting to look at. Stepping on to the concrete sidewalk, she look up at the school. It was the oldest known in the county and the ‘best school in America’. But we know the teachers always seem to exaggerates. Going straight to her locker in the 400 hall (there were 100-700 hall; not actually 100 little hallways but sections of it.) she grabbed her Orchestra flowers and checked her purse to make sure she has everything in there. (pencils, pen, make-up, calculator, ect.)
