Everything Has Changed

“I don’t belong there anymore Lucius! Not after everything that happened with the war…and after the war! I belong here, among my own kind…muggles” Hermione said angrily stabbing her food with the fork violently

“You are not a muggle! You’re a witch, one of the most powerful and smartest witches OUR world has ever seen! I know you’ve been hurt…we all do, but I think its time you return…to the wizarding world and to Hogwarts”

     Hermione sat down and stared at the kitchen table for a while, thinking about what Lucius had said. He was right, by hiding away among muggles who didn’t understand her; she was throwing away her brilliance that everyone admired but it was hard. He had taken away all innocence from her, leaving her bare and empty; no doubt the magical restraining order kept him far away from her but everything she saw reminded her of that horrid day. But it was time to put it all behind her and move forward, maybe the job at Hogwarts was exactly what she needed to start over; it made no sense having a Potions Masters degree and not using it.

“How about we take this one step at a time? Maybe…maybe we could visit the manor” Hermione said slowly

“Narcissa and Draco would be delighted for you to finally visit our home. Shall we expect you tomorrow for lunch?” Lucius asked

She nodded and watched as he disapparated after biding her a good night. Walking upstairs to her room, she opened the box that was resting on her nightstand and lightly touched her wand; she felt the magic begin to surge again and she realised how much she was missing out.
