Chapter Two

First thing in the morning Harry made his way to the Headmistress\'s office. For once luck was on his side and McGonagall was on her way to her office too and he caught up with her half way there.

"Professor!" Harry called out to her and she turned to great him.

"Mr Potter, I heard from Madame Pomfrey that you had found young Mr Malfoy at the edge of the Forbidden Forest last night."

Harry nodded. "Yes, I wanted to talk to you about that."

She smiled and said the password to her office. "Very well, let\'s discuss this in my office."

When they were seated and the tea offer made, which Harry took, they went straight to the point.

"How did you find Mr Malfoy, Mr Potter?" McGonagall asked, starting to question him as she should.

"I was out of curfew, I know I shouldn\'t have but I couldn\'t get any sleep. I just got this feeling something wasn\'t right and then I happened to look out of the window and I saw him lying on the ground. I just rushed there. I did not see anyone or anything else there."

The Headmistress nodded and remained thoughtful for a few moments. "This is a serious matter and Mr Malfoy will be questioned as well when he regains consciousness. I will have to give you a detention since you were breaking the school rules but I will take it into a count that you found Mr Malfoy and in doing so you saved his life. If he had been found in the morning he would have been dead. I am only telling you this because Mr Malfoy now owes you a life debt and you should know it so you will know when it is paid. I suggest you consult Ms Granger about the matter. I am sure she will be able to tell you what a life debt means. You are free to go, Mr Potter," Professor McGonagall said and smiled at him.

"Thank you, Professor," Harry answered back and left to office. He already knew what a life debt meant but about repayment he did not. He knew only that Draco would have to save his life in order to pay it back fully. He still had a few things to ask from Hermione though.

--..--..--

Draco groaned as the bright light hurt his eyes but he blinked nonetheless. He saw the familiar ceiling of the infirmary. How had he gotten here? He had no memory of anyone coming to his rescue. Well it was no wonder since he had lost consciousness after all. One thing he knew for certain; he was very much alive. He had been able to escape and survive even though his enemies had thought otherwise. He would have to thank the person who had found him.

He breathed slowly as his ribs hurt. He remembered the fight vividly and the feeling of betrayal. He would have never thought that a fellow student would be able to attack him so boldly but when his father was concerned in one way or the other it should have not surprised him in the least. He coughed a few times which drew the attention of Madame Pomfrey who was standing a few feet away checking on another student.

"Nice to see you awake, Mr Malfoy," she said and offered him a brief smile.

"What happened?" he asked, knowing the lady would know what he meant.

Madame Pomfrey looked at him with sad eyes. "You were really close to death, Mr Malfoy, but luck was on your side when Mr Potter happened to spot you on the grounds."

Draco winced. Of course it had to be that moron who saved him. He sighed and thanked the old mediwitch. She asked him a few questions concerning his health but soon she disappeared into her office to make her report.
