Lies

Hermione stepped into the house that she grew up in feeling a little apprehensive about her upcoming discussion with her parents, as soon as she took two steps into the living room her mom came in.

“Hermione dear what a surprise, how are you doing?”

“Mum I need to talk to you and daddy. Its important, is he here?’

“Yes dear he is in his office.” Lisa Granger eyed her daughter. “What’s the matter Hermione? I can tell that something is really bothering you.”

Hermione called to her dad asking him to come into the living room. Hermione sat across from her parents and stared them both in the eye. “I am going to ask you a question and I would appreciate not being lied to.”

“Hermione Jane Granger don’t speak to us like that” Robert Granger snapped at his daughter.

Hermione turned to her father and asked the question that would change their lives forever. “Daddy am I adopted?”

Robert Granger looked from his wife to his daughter and back again barely catching his wife’s nod telling him to go ahead with the true. “Hermione you are adopted. We couldn’t have children and that was really embarrassing for us, so we went to a private adoption agency and they got you for us, then your mother and I moved here and just let everyone believe that you were biologically ours.”

“How did you find out Hermione?” Lisa Granger asked her daughter.

“My brother came to see me at Hogwarts. The problem though mum is that if my so called brother is telling the truth then I was kidnapped by that adoption agency when I was only a few hours old.” She heard her mother gasp in shock, but couldn’t bring herself to look at her mom.

“Please forgive us Hermione.”

“I am going to try mum, but for now I prefer feeling angry. I will be back to see you when I am not so angry.” Hermione stood up and left her childhood home with out a backwards glance and once she was in the hall she apparated back to her own apartment.
Collapsing on to the bed she finally let the tears fall, reaching to the bedside table to grab a tissue her hand fell on the card that she got from Jacob Williams. Going into the bathroom to wash her face the card still clutched in her hand and she made a decision and she was going to call the man who claimed to be her brother.

It was two days after her emotional meeting with her parents and she was sitting in a booth at a muggle restaurant in London. She was watching the door and she saw the instant that Jacob entered. When he saw her his eyes lit up and a smiled formed on his face.

“Hermione thank you for agreeing to see me.” He said taking her hand in his.

“Well it is a big shock to all of a sudden find out that you were adopted and then in the same instance find out that oh yeah you were kidnapped also.”

“I am sorry for throwing this all at you, but my family has been looking for you since your were kidnapped and then about three months ago the muggle police informed us that they received a book from the kidnappers and in the book it listed all the babies and their adoptive parents. Much to my families surprise you had attended Hogwarts, so we went to Dumbledore and asked him who you were and we were very surprised to find out that one of the war heroes and best friends with Harry Potter was the Hermione Granger we were looking for.”

“How do I really know that I am your sister and I have all these other family members?”

Jacob took a picture out of his pocket and set it on the table in front of Hermione. She looked down and what she saw stole her breath away. She was staring at a picture of an older lady but the resemblance between the lady in the picture and herself was very much apparent.

“So you are a wizard?”

Jacob smiled “Yes I am, when dad got work in America we all went with him so all of us attended The American Magical Institute, but now that we are back Henry will be a 6th year at Hogwarts, Jessi a 4th year, Lyndsey a second year and Abigail will be starting her first year.”

Curiously Hermione asked “How many of you are there?”

He laughed and said that they had eight siblings. Hermione stared at him in shock and he laughed again.

“There is Ben he is the oldest, married and has a whole horde of his own offspring. Four to be exact, but I have to admit I love the little punks.” Hermione laughed and urged him to go on. “Shane is next and he and his wife are working on their first. I am next and happy to say I am happily single with no unruly little people running around at none that I know of.” He smiled cheekily at his sister. “Rabekah is the first girl she was born a year before you. You are next your birth name is Sophia Lynn Williams.” Hermione was shocked at the fact that she had a whole other name.

She smiled “I am sorry, but I think I will stick with Hermione. It’s the name I had for the last 22 years.”

“I understand and I will tell the family.” He continued telling her about their siblings. “Alexis is 20, but we don’t really discuss her because she decided to leave the family and pursue different things in life. Henry is next as I said he is starting his sixth year and is desperately angry with the family right now because we made him move away from his girlfriend. Jessica is starting her fourth year and is the sweetest one in the whole family. Lyndsey is starting her second year and is the perfectionist, then there is the baby of the family Miss Abigail who according to dad is the perfect angel, but really she is a sneaky angel. She can be vicious when it suits her and sweet and innocent when that suits her too.”

Hermione was laughing as he described his siblings to her “You know Abigail reminds me very much of my best friend Ginny. She can be vicious.

“Hermione will you come meet our parents? They are dieing to see you.” He saw the humor in her eyes die very quickly “I’m sorry Hermione we can wait until you are ready.”

“Thank you Jacob, I am not really sure if I want to see any of them yet.”

A short while later they got up to leave and Hermione found herself staring into the yes of a very angry Severus Snape. She instinctively took a step back and ran right into Jacob.

“Hermione are you ok?”

“She is fine” Snape growled and grabbed Hermione’s arm.

When she gasped in pain Jacob stepped forward between Snape and Hermione. “Leave her alone.”

“Don’t tell me what to do. This is between me and her. So just butt out.”

“Snape what the hell is wrong with you.” Hermione gasped

Severus looked at her in anger. “First you sleep with me and not even a week later you are out on a date with him.” He said with pure loathing in his voice. He was shocked when Hermione yanked her own arm out of his grasp.

“First of all sleeping with you was an accident and will never happen again and secondly I am not out on a date with him he is my brother.”

Severus at least had the decency to look embarrassed. “Yeah I guess I remember you now.”
Hermione rolled her eyes and took Jacobs hand so they could leave the restaurant together when Severus Snape said something that made her world rock.

“Miss Granger could you be pregnant?”

Turning around to face her former professor she looked at him in shock before promptly fainting onto the floor of the restaurant.
