Chapter Two: New Friends

After what felt like a lifetime to Harry, after listening to Vernon drone on and on about beatings, they arrived at a huge hotel. It wasn't more then 50 feet off the shoreline. Harry gasped at the beautiful design of the building. It looked like some of the castles he seen in the fairytale books Petunia used to read to Dudley all the time. He would get a quick glimpse at the books before she would catch him standing there and send him on his way, with threats following him from the room.

Petunia and Vernon checked them in and told the workers at the front counter that they wouldn't require maid service. They gave them their keys and the family was off in search for their room, Harry was a few feet behind them struggling with all of their luggage. He watched them enter a room on the main floor, the door clicked shut behind them. When he got to their room he dropped the luggage on the floor and knocked timidly. He heard a squeal bubble from within the room and the door was thrust opened. Petunia's happy face quickly turned into a scowl.

"Oh, it's you." She said rudely before walking away from the door. It was swinging shut again, Harry stuck his foot out to hold it open, leaned over and started pulling the luggage into the room.
Once he was inside he looked around, marvelling at the beauty of the room. There was glass sliding doors at the other end that opened onto a little square patio, beyond that was the beach. Vernon caught his look of delight.

"Don't get too happy, boy." He said. He turned and gestured towards the little kitchenette. Boy was echoing in Harry's head again. Hatred swelled inside of him, and it scared him. He never felt that way before. His uncle's mouth was moving, saying words Harry couldn't hear. Vernon grabbed him by the back of the neck and shook him.

"Are you listening to me?" He asked sharply. Harry nodded.

"Good. Make sure dinner is ready by 6:30 tonight. We will be back by then." And with that the Dursley's filed from the room. Vernon stuck his head back inside the door. "Oh and unpack our luggage. And remember, Do. Not. Leave this room. Or else."

Harry started shaking in fear. He wasn't sure why but he suddenly felt very afraid. It wasn't even eleven in the morning. What was a seven year old boy going to do for seven hours by himself? He slowly unpacked everyone's luggage but his own. You couldn't really call his 'luggage' it was only 2 shirts and 2 pairs of pants.
When he was done unpacking he sat on one of the queen sized beds for a very long time. He was debating. They wanted him to make dinner, but there was no food. He couldn't leave and go get something to make because he was forbidden to leave the room. Either way he was in big trouble.
He must have dozed for a couple hours, because he was woken up when he was grabbed roughly by the front of his shirt and shaken.

"Where's our dinner boy?" Vernon snarled.

"Uncle Vernon" Harry squeaked in his premature voice. "There wasn't any food-" But he was cut off harshly by a stinging slap to his cheek.

Harry bent down, clutching his cheek in pain. As he bent over his uncle's fist connected with his stomach. This caused him to bend over more. Dudley sat in the corner cheering his father on.

"Come on Dad!! Show that freak what's coming to him!"

Harry's face was struck again, but this time it wasn't an open slap, it was a balled fist and when it connected he felt the skin on his cheekbone split open. After his face was heavily assaulted Vernon started working on his body. He punched Harry anywhere his fists could connect, losing control of himself.

*************

Harry was locked in the bathroom. He sat on the edge of the bathtub and cleansed his wounds. He had a nasty cut on his protruding cheekbone, and quite a few bruises. The belt left welts on his back. "Boy" was still echoing through his head. 'I have a name' he though bitterly. 'Why don't they use my name?' Tears started to prick at the corners of his eyes, but he bravely held them in. Crying would just upset the Dursley's more.
Harry curled up on the mat outside of the shower and fell asleep. A vision assualted his unconciousness. A blond boy, who looked much older then him with deep silver eyes. "Mine" the boy said seriously. The blonde boy looked down, and Harry seen that there was another boy there. He was also older. The blond had his arms wrapped around the second boy who had jet black hair and glasses. The vision was forgotten as soon as there was a banging on the door and Harry woke up abruptly.

"Get out of there I need to use the toilet!" Dudley screamed. Harry scrambled to his feet and opened the door. Dudley pulled him roughly from the room and slammed the door in Harry's face. He walked over to the corner and sat there, watching the Dursley's flounce around and get dressed for the day.

"Don't just sit there. Get off your good for nothing arse and start making some breakfast!! You can't use the 'no food' excuse either, because we went to town last night. Now hurry up!!" Yelled his aunt.
Harry jumped to his feet, said "Yes Ma'am" and as scared as he was, started making breakfast. He was shaking so bad that he dropped an egg on the floor.

He gulped over the lump in his throat and snuck a look at his uncle. His large face was behind the morning paper, so Harry grabbed a cloth, bent down and started cleaning it up.

"Dad!!" Dudley yelled suddenly. "Harry dropped an egg on the floor!"

"Well, we can't expect that good for nothing child to do anything right, not like you Dudley." Vernon said, not even looking up from the sports edition.

Harry held back his tears.

The Dursleys ate, their bacon and eggs, and drank their tea in record time.

"We are going to town. Make sure you make us a suitable dinner tonight. We have alot of sights to see, so we need to hurry. Make sure you don't leave." Vernon warned.

"Yes, I know." Harry said timidly, looking at his feet.

He looked up and his uncle was leaning down into his face. Vernons face was more purple then usual. His eyes were tiny slits. He reminded Harry of someone evil. He didn't know who, but someone.

"You better show me a little bit more respect, Boy!" Vernon told him harshly.

"Yes, sir" Harry whimpered. Vernon slammed the door shut and Harry scampered back to his corner.

The seven year old made the decision that he was at least going to go the beach, he had never been to the ocean, and the Dursley's would be gone all day. They would never know. Harry waited in his corner for 45 minutes before standing timidly. His body hurt so much. He opened the glass sliding doors and pulled it almost shut. He needed to get back in and didn't fancy being locked out.

He was walking down the beach in his bare feet, loving the way the sand felt against his bare skin, watching his footprints in the wet sand, he was listening to the seagulls around him squawking and he was watching all the people in the water enjoying themselves. Slowly the people began to get sparse, and then there was none at all. Just Harry. He twisted around while he was walking so he could watch his footprints get washed away in the tide when he walked directly into a boy. His knee hit the boy's shoulder. The boy was kneeling in the wet sand, doing something with a stick. This boy was a little bit bigger then Harry, and he was blonde and pale.

"Ouch!" The boy yelled.

Harry quickly stepped back a few paces. "I'm sorry!" He cried. "I didn't see you there! Your okay right? Your not mad are you? Please don't hurt me!"

The little blond boy disregarded everything that Harry said and came out with his own question.

"How did you get past my wards? Muggles can't get through!" He said skeptically.

"What's a ward? And what are Muggles?" Harry asked curiously. He looked into the boys eyes and seen that they were silver. They felt familiar. They frusterated him. Where had he seen those eyes before?

"Nevermind. I was getting bored being alone anyway. Your going to play with me! I'm Draco" The boy said, offering Harry his hand.

Harry was sad that his questions weren't answered. "I'm Harry" he almost whispered. Not accepting the hand. He was always told he wasn't worthy.

Draco gave him a weird look. Harry's eyes met his breifly and he quickly looked away.

"What happened to your face?" The blond asked curiously.

"Nothing." Harry whispered again.

"Oh. Maybe you should call me Master. Only when it's me and you. When someone else is around you can call me Draco."

"Master?" Harry asked "Okay, but why?"

"'Cause it would be like I'm your master, and you should do what I say. But only when we are by ourselves" Draco stressed. He had already decided that he wanted to this muggle home with him. "Well let's play now. This game is Hogwarts express. We have to get the train safely to the castle." Harry looked to where the boy was pointing. There was a huge castle made of sand about 50 feet away.

They played for hours. And in those hours Draco decided that he liked this boy alot, although there was something weird about him. He had did as Draco asked and called him 'Master' and he was fun. Harry also chose that he liked Draco. He was nice to him, but Harry felt odd calling him 'Master' he was thinking about not doing that anymore. But what if he didn't call him 'Master' and this boy managed to do what his Uncle does? What if he beats him up? The sun was getting closer to the horizon and Harry figured it was about four. He was just about to tell his new friend that he had to be getting back home when a tall man with the same color hair as Draco came striding forward. Draco had a scared expression on his face and pulled Harry behind him. Harry cringed when he seen that this man was carrying a cane. Had he been sent to find him?

Draco looked up at his father, Lucius, and with the cutest expression on his face said, "Daddy, I found this muggle fair and square and I want to keep him forever and ever. You don't even need to buy my the new broom I wanted so badly. He doesn't have any family anyway, he was walking all by himself! Please, please can I keep him?!?"

Lucius sighed. He knew spoiling his son was a bad idea, but he and Narcissa couldn't help it. He was so damned cute! But that aside, he had to get Draco to stop calling him 'Daddy' and start adressing him as 'Sir'. That lesson would come up later.

"Well.. He can come home with us now. I will make further decisions later"
Draco squealed.

Harry was shaking. The idea of not showing up at the hotel was frightening.

"Whats your name, Boy?" Lucius snapped at the youngster. He instantly regretted it. Harry was shaking uncontrollably now, tears in the corners of his eyes. Lucius noticed the cut on his face along with the bruises and suddenly he felt great unwanted sympathy for him. Malfoys don't feel bad for others.

"Harry, sir." Harry said quietly. Lucius was straining his ears to hear him. "Harry Potter."

Lucius's eyes widened, and then narrowed. His mind was working a mile a minute, 'Perfect' He said to himself, and sneered.

"Oh dad!!" Draco shouted, "The Harry Potter! You already said we can keep him! We are going to have so much fun!" He said turning to Harry.

Harry reddened slightly, but continued shaking. How did they know his name? He was not one for attention. People paying attention scared him almost as much as his uncles belt. Almost.

Draco walked forward and grabbed Harry's hand in his own. Harry was trying to pull away but the boy had a strong grip and started pulling Harry towards Lucius, speaking a mile a minute.

"You will sleep in my bed and we can play with my toys all day and fly around on my broomstick. I won't share you with anybody and you will be my best friend!"

Lucius bent down and scooped both boys up. He couldn't help but notice the raven-haired boy cringe away from him, afraid of the touch. 'What is wrong with this boy?' he asked himself, raising his left eyebrow. Harry looked at him, and Lucius registered the fright on the boys face. He gave him a soft smile and apparated away. Draco watched the exchange curiously. Harry made a noise of fright as they apparated away, with his eyes shut tight. When he opened them he looked at the building they were suddenly in front of. It was fifty times nicer than the hotel that he was staying at! Lucius could see his delight, even if it was only there momentarily.

"Welcome to Malfoy Manor!" Draco screamed. He jumped out of his fathers arms, and Harry followed reluctantly. Draco was running wildly, happy to have a friend here with him.

"Oh my.." Lucius said to himself quietly as he started away to his home.
