Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Hermione could do nothing but stare. And Malfoy just looked at her, an unrecognisable expression on his face.
Then she was pulled backwards and stood in front of Lenn again, a sixth year Ravenclaw.
He was shouting awful things at her and she began to sob again. He was shaking her and Hermione began to scream from fright. Then the pressure of his arms on her was gone and she felt his mouth close around her, his hands were roaming over her like snakes.
She couldn’t breathe, she tried to push him away, but it was no use. Her head began to spin and she felt herself sway. Malfoys image appeared in the back of her mind.
He is just loving this, isn’t he, cruel bastard!
Then her attacker’s mouth was gone and she gasped. Hermione fell to her knees, unable to hold herself upright. Her head was still spinning.
She could hear screaming and stumbling around her.
Malfoy didn’t know when he moved. All he knew is that he saw this guy on the floor holding his stomach. And then Malfoy became aware that he was kicking this Ravenclaw.
The boy held his hands up defensively. Malfoy was shaking. He felt so angry at this bloke in front him. He wanted to rip the guys head off.
He was screaming at him to get the hell out. Malfoy didn’t even recognise his own voice.
Then the guy scrambled to his feet and made a run for it. Malfoy looked as the boy made it to the portrait hole. Then his attention was drawn to Granger.
She sat on the ground her arms barely holding her up.
He was dumb struck, unable to move at first. She was still coughing.
He could only look at her. Her knees were bleeding and her legs were scratched at some places. She tried to hold her ripped blouse together.
He looked at her and the air went thick with the knowledge what just happened.
Malfoy moved closer and crouched down to her level. Then he saw her bruised face. Her left cheek was red and already turning bluish. Granger tuned away ashamed. Malfoy looked away also.
God this was just wrong in so many ways. He just couldn’t comprehend what he just did. It was just, well, so unlike him.
He did something, for Mudblood Granger! Of all people!!
Nothing good can come of this, he just knew. He felt her look at him again.

Hermione was still a bit fussy, but it dawned on her that Malfoy was still here and would probably help her. She felt so exposed, it made her feel sick. That Malfoy of all people had witnessed this. She just wished the earth would crack open and swallow her whole. This was just too disturbing. She never felt so ashamed in her life. Malfoy was going to have a field day with this. She dared to look up and her eyes locked with his.
“Are you….” The words didn’t come out. Malfoy run a hand through his hair nervously.
Malfoy mind was mulling over what to say. He had to cover this up somehow. He couldn’t slip when it came to Granger. It was bad enough he saw her almost every single blood-forsaken day. She was going to hold this over his head forever; she wasn’t going to let this go. At least not if he didn’t do something to tip the scale.
Malfoy held out his hand. He looked at Granger.
Hermione looked at his outstretched hand. She hesitated and then took it. Malfoy pulled her up and got up himself. Hermione swayed on her feet for a bit. His hand slipped out of hers. There was silence again.
“I…. ehm, I really don’t ….. Eh, I don’t know..”, she began nervously.
“What, Granger? Spit it out, already!! The words came out harsh and that was fine with him. She blinked and looked at him with confusion in her eyes.
“I really think you should wash up, Granger. You even look filthier then usual.”
Malfoy saw the hurt flash into her eyes. It was gone in an instant, but not quick enough to hold back the tears.
Hermione looked unbelievably at him. No! not now, how could he be this cruel!
She felt new tears form. Don’t, please don’t, she told herself. Why him of all people.
She felt warm tears on her cheeks. Then she turned and ran upstairs to her dorm and slammed the door shut.
Malfoy stared after her and sighed. He fucked up royally. This year wasn’t going to be same.
Of course not you idiot!! You share a common room with mudblood Granger! This was going to be the longest year yet.
Especially with this moment with Granger.
No! Damn no! He did NOT have a moment with Granger.
Malfoy walked frustrated to the portrait hole and slammed it shut. He needed to find Crabbe and Goyle. He needed a distraction, even if it was from two idiots tormenting first years.

In her dorm Hermione was crying. Not only was she assaulted by an overgrown hormone blob, but what was worse, Malfoy was a witness to it. She knew this year wasn’t going to be easy, with Malfoy being given the Head position. Well that was an understatement. It was terrible. Every time when she opened the portrait hole she hoped that he wouldn’t be there. And if he was, she always was on her guard. Usually he would just sneer at her and make a childish comment about a stinking buck-toothed mudblood walking in. He usually stayed with the verbal abuse. But sometimes he would use prank spells on her, like hiding her schoolwork or turning it purple, or green!!! But most of the time he would ignore her.
She did try her best to ignore him, but that really wasn’t easy. She would never admit to anyone that his comments still hurt, even after 5 years. She went out of her way to avoid him. Though she would never tell Ron and Harry this.
No, Malfoy definitely got under her skin, even if she told herself he doesn’t have any power over her. Until now, that is. He could make her life miserable with what he knew.
But then, she had something on him to. He helped her. As horrible as he was to her just now, he did kick the crap out of Lenn. There was no denying that.
Hermione wiped the remaining tears from her face. This was all too weird. She got a towel from her closet and went onto the joined bathroom. There she tended to her open wounds.
