Hermione stopped the cooking machine. Her chips were fine now. She sat down at the round eating table at her kitchen. Mr. and Mrs Granger went to work early in the morning, so she awaked in a completly empty house. So, today's the Big Day. she thought. It was the 20th of July, 5:54am. Hermione just started eating her breakfast chips. She planned everything today. She even picked the clothes she will wear. Hermione finished eating harshly, than she hurried up to the bathroom. She looked into the mirror, and when she saw her own eyes, she didn't believe what she saw. Her eyes were full of curiosity and energy. Why am I so nervous? she asked herself. She didn't know. Something inside her told her, that she has to be perfect for this day. She brushed her teeth, made her hair in a slight ponytail, than she ran to her bedroom. A long onepart blue summerdress was waiting for her on her bed. She put it on, and she ran back to the bathroom, to look at herself. I am beautiful. she thought I really am. What? What am I blabbing about? I never wanted to be beautiful!
She went to the garage, to make her bicycle ready. The Orphenage was far from her home. And when the clock finally showed 6:15 she opened the garage door, and slid out to the dawn. She followed the instructions her father gave to her, to reach her goal. She was wandering the city for about one hour, when a helpful old lady showed the right way. It was about half past seven, when she finally reached a big, four-flated rough building, with the name-tag: Goldmourn Orphenage. She saw some big buldozers and other machines which had already started toring the building apart. She cycled swiftly to the big entrance, but a painted signt was attached to it: Closed.
"Oh God what now?" she cryed out.
"Maybe you should look around." said a deep voice just near her. She turned quickly, and she saw a boy sitting on a rotting wooden coutch near the entrance door. "I thought you will never come! Good Morning by the way. I'm Jeremiah, but pleaze just call me Jeremy, because its more practical." He moved his hand towards Hermione's and shook it. "Pleased to meet you beautiful lady!"
Hermione was in complete shock. She clearly remembered Harry's joke on Ron: "So you will have a little adventure in the summer Hermione? Maybe he will be really nice." No, Harry was completly wrong. This boy wasn't nice. No he isn't. He's perfect. What am I talking about?! Snap out of it Hermione! She looked at Jeremiah again. He had long golden-brown hair, which was made in a ponytail. His marvel skin was perfectly shining in the summer Sun, but the strangest, and most attracting features were his eyes. One of his eye was deep nightblue, and the other was dark poison-green. And these wonderful eyes were fixed on Hermione who was entirely panicking. after a few moments of uncomfortable silence she shook his hand again. "No, the pleasure is mine!" Hermione you jerk! Stop fooling around! Gather yourself in one piece! She forced out a frightend, but strong smile.
"So...where to?" Jeremy was a little nervous.
"Oh, sorry, follow me!" He picked up a large trunk, which was under the couch, and started to drag it on its oiled wheels.
"Thats a practical trunk." Hermione said on a bit hight voice. "Maybe I should put some wheels on mine too!"
"Maybe I will make you some." replied Jeremy with a smile on his face."So where do you live?"
"A bit far from here." she answered "But we aren't going there first."
"No? Then where are we going?"
"To the mall, of course!" hermione said this like a fact, but Jeremy didn't really had the mood to do shopping.
"Why do we have to do shopping now?" he asked in a desperate voice.
"Because Dumbledore wanted you to go." He stopped walking, and he stared at Hermione.
"Why did He want me to do THAT?"
"I don't know. It was in the letter he send to my parents. But they aren't here now, so I will have to go with you. Dumbledore said, you can use his Gringotts gold."
"Oh my God!" they started walking again. "Me and shopping. Like a dragon sewing a pink dress..." Hermione giggled on the joke.
"By the way" he said when they reached the main road. "I dont even know your name."
"Hermione Granger." she said.
"Hermione. It's a beautiful name. A bit long though. Can I call you 'Mione?" Oh, he's so cute! I know him for maybe half an hour, and I like him more than ever."
"Well..." she started, but she had to stop, because her bicycle stuck on a bad hopp of the road, and it pulled her back, and finally she fell. Or she nearly fell. Jeremy cauth her on her waist, just before she would hit the ground. He pulled Hermione to her legs again. She made a lot of light breaths, and when she cooled down, she looked at her savior.
"Thank you." they started walking again, but this time, Jeremy dragged the bicycle behind him, as well as his trunk.
"Thank what?" he asked back.
"For helping me not to fell. It was really generous."
"No it wasn't" he said, but he blushed anyways. "I'm sure you're friends would have done the same for you." Well you know, I'm not wery sure in it." she thought.
"Yeah...they would have..." her voice had a little sarcatic echo. As Jeremiah looked at her, they reached the double-crossing, which pointed directly to the Mall.
"Are you sad 'Mione?"
"No, no... it's just... never mind." she didn't wanted to talk about the problems she had with her friends. Expesially, that these problems were born because of Him.
"Well than suit yorself." he said "I'm sure that you can handle it." he smiled encourageingly on her. He has a nice smile. What am I thinking? Hermione, you bitch stop thinking of him!
"Here we are!" she said. The large mass building of the Mall was right in front of them. "Ok, well we have to take care of your trunk, and my bike first."
"You lead." he said "I was never here before."
"You were never in a Mall?"
"No, not really. These clothes were sew in the Orphenage." he had a sad voice, as he looked at his dirty, black clothes. He looked up, and he saw Hermione's eyes full of pity. "But I'm fine" he continued in a more strong voice. "I still don't know why we're here."
"I will buy new clothes for you!" Hermione said. Jeremy was shocked.
" No no no, I will have to buy them! I can't accept this sort of gift... and we merely know each-other." he wanted to continue, but she raised her hand to make him stop.
"No arguments! Take this as a... welcoming gift."
"Welcome to where?"
"To the World!" she was really happy. The look on Jeremy's face showed her, that he's a bit confused about her, but the funny thing was, that Hermione herself didn't know exactly why she was so happy.
"Now then" she strengthend herself "Let's go shopping!" and she began her march towards the entrance of the Mall, like she was going to war. Jeremy shook his head, and followed her. Oh my God.
Jeremy woke up early morning. He was sleeping very deep in this comfortable bed. He was in one of the guest-bedrooms of the Granger house. It wasn't so big after all, but it was cosyer than his Orphenage room. Jeremy wanted to sleep back. He was tired like hell. Yesterday, he and Hermione were shopping in the Mall for nearly six hours. Hermione bought him more cloths than he ever saw in his life. his trunk now was full with new T-shirts, trousers, jeans, shirts and shoes. After that, for a thanksgiving-present they went to Diagon Alley, where Jeremy bot some gold from Dumbledore's vault. He invited Hermione for dinner, which she thankfully accepted. They ate there, than he bought her the biggest ice-cream surprise in Diagon Alley which looked like a mountain. It looked like she had a war with that ice-cream, because as she tried to eat it, it fell on her, and she got creamy and wet all over. Jeremy laughed at her for at least one hour long, as she tried to dry her clothe swith the fire in the shop, because they weren't allowed to use magic when they weren't in school. When Hermione finally dried, she dragged Jeremiah to the magical Creatures' shop to buy an animal for him. When they came out, Jeremy was accompenied by a big black egg. Hermone was shocked, that he bought that instead an owl. In the egg was a perfectly harmless, and legal Maian Scarlet Dragon. Jeremy didn't listen to Hermione's speech about dangerous dragons, he instead read the inscription what he got from the shopkeeper. "This tamed, mighty Maian Scarlet Dragon was thought to be died out centuries ago, when Spanish wizards conqured ancient Mexico. It looked like, the maian and astec wizards were using this type of specially bred dragons to send mails to each-other, like we do with owls. This dragon isn't bigger than an eagle, and it's as clever as our phoenixes. It's skin is tougher than diamond, and it's strengtend with ancient magic. It can breath fire, ice and poisonus acid. It is perfectly good for mail delivering. It has a good amount of magical talent, so it can make sertain spells, like Protego or Expelliarmus. It's a loyal companion. It can be fed with dogfood, or owlfood. And so on and so on. Hermione was breathing hard, when she finished. When she saw, that she had no effect on Jeremy, she asked him completly defeated.
"When will it hatch?" He laughed. He won a battle against her. He looked at the paper.
"On the 29th of July, when the Sun is on the top of the sky, we have to bring the egg to the highest place we can find. What the?" he read the lines again "29th of July? Thats my birthday!"
"Really?" Hermione asked. Her eyes were shining dangerously. Jeremy get scared. Maybe I shouldn't have tell her that...
They went home after that. The Granger parents weren't at home then. Jeremy thanked her the wonderful day, Hermione showed him his room, and then they all went to sleep.
And now, he woke up smiling. He was happy. He laughed loudly, than he closed his eyes to sleep back.
Hermione didn't sleep that night. She was confused. To be honest, when she accepted Dumbledore's request, she thought that her summer was fucked. She expected a stupid, muggle-thinking boy with a big face, and a big parcel. Instead, she got a gentle, good-looking, intelligent boy, whos was a little Harry-like with no parents. The biggest suprise was that she felt like a woman, when they were together. Yeah, Harry and Ron were nice with her, but not this way. They never treated her like a girl, they thought about her like a "pal", a friend. Jeremy was not like this. He was gentle, and he did little things, like opening the door to let her pass first, and he offered the chair, when she wanted to sit down. He always asked her thoughts about things, when they were buying clothes, and he bought ice-cream, which is not a big thing, but he did it with compassion and care. Jeremiah saw the long-time-lost women in her. There was a time, when she thought about herself as a girl, and that was when Viktor Krum asked her to be his pair in the Ball at the Triwizard Tournament. But that was nearly two years ago. She stuck her head into her pillow. What was that feeling in my stomach? When I saw him... I don't know what I saw really... he had such a happy smile... but he's eyes... Yeah. Those eyes. She saw bad, really bad feelings in them. Sorrow. Grief. Sadness. Such dark things for a pure hearth... What?! I swear to myself, I will jump out of my window, if I'll have more thoughts like this! Why am I thinking about him? Well, their first day was over. But what will the other bring? To Me? To Him? To Us? To the Boy of Shadows and Sorrow...
