Severus had completely forgotten about Hermione Granger as he stood in the Great Hall, watching a witch he had never seen before. She looked as if she was searching for something. “Must be someone form the ministry,” thought Severus, “Things were a lot less busy around here when everyone hated Albus.” He realized immediately why she had caught his attention, the same reason she had caught the attention of every male in the room. He had never seen anyone whose robes actually flattered their bodies. Her robes worked for her, doing nothing to hide and everything to enhance her ample curves.
Usually he didn’t pay much attention to women, seeing as how they were really only distractions. He was so tired of wayward girls and women alike trying to press their company on him. He didn’t believe in romance, and he certainly didn’t need a relationship. He was way too busy for that, but it never hurt to look. He only wished he could see her face, if she would just turn around. Suddenly Dumbledore came strolling up to her, with a delighted expression on his face. With Dumbledore obscuring his view, he decided to make his way up to the staff table.
He was starving, and he still had to sit through the sorting, as if he cared what house the little buggers got put. Instead, he spent the time doing something worthwhile, trying to catch a glimpse of the woman’s face, because she was seated at the staff table beside Albus. Finally the last name was called, and Dumbledore stood up to give his annual pre-dinner speech. With him standing, he would finally be able to see the woman’s face. To his surprise she stood up as well. Then he heard Albus say, “I present to you your new potions teacher, Professor Hermione Granger.” There was loud applause punctured by whispered discussions. Her name was well known in connection to the battle, second only to Harry’s, and of course Voldemort and Dumbledore. Severus, however, heard none of this. He was so shocked he could barely form a coherent thought. Hermione sat down, allowing Severus to get a good look at her face.
It was her, but wow, the transformation was amazing. She wasn’t bad looking in school, but she wasn’t anything special as far as that is concerned. It had been two years since she had completed school, and time had performed miracles. She was gorgeous, even with her hair pulled back in a very Minerva-ish bun. He wondered what color it was, how long it was, what it smelled like. Then he cursed himself for wondering, it was completely inappropriate and unacceptable! Finding out her identity should have completely turned him off, and yet, it didn’t. He couldn’t understand why, and he was getting extremely annoyed at himself. So annoyed, in fact, that he didn’t even notice the dishes had filled with food. I wasn’t until Flitwick asked if he was feeling quite well that he realized he had been gazing grumpily into space for a full 5 minutes.
As much as he willed himself not to, his gaze was practically glued to Hermione for the rest of the evening. She seemed to be enjoying herself with Albus and Minerva. When the main dishes were cleared and the desserts appeared, she stood up and made her way over to where he was sitting. “Hi,” she said, extending her hand, “I’m Hermione Granger. I noticed you looking at me during dinner. Did I use to know you?” “Yes,” he replied, begrudgingly giving her his hand. As soon as his hand touched hers, there was a spark, no, more like a jolt of electricity. Severus quickly jerked his hand back. Hermione seemed not to notice it. “I’m Severus Snape, I was your Potions teacher when you attended Hogwarts.” he continued.
“Oh really?” she asked with friendly interest. “Did I do well in your class?” “Uncommonly so,” he replied. This was very interesting indeed. He had known about her condition, but it was amazing that she couldn’t remember a thing about how much they loathed each other. If only he could forget how annoying she was, no better to forget how good she looked now. “Well, it was really great to meet you…again,” she said, bringing his gaze back to her face, “I am sure I will need your help, I’ll see you around.” She gave him a smile and left.

“Wow!” She thought as she walked away. This whole night had been interesting. As soon as she had walked into the great hall, she saw the tall mysterious stranger standing there. He looked so…incredible. Powerful, strong, sexy, and most importantly, dangerous. And those eyes, they were so black, and yet, so deep; the kind of eyes that could see straight into your soul. She had been watching him all evening, until she was introduced to her new students, at least. Then she looked up from her meal to find those intense black eyes staring at her. She couldn’t understand the expression on his face, but she had a feeling he knew her. When she went up to introduce herself, his attitude was a little cold, but maybe she was just imagining things. She forgot about everything when he opened his mouth. His voice was enchanting. She felt as though she had been put under a spell. His voice was like silk, so smooth it wrapped itself around her. The most interesting thing was, she felt things she had never felt before. He was definitely dangerous.
