Harry Potter: A Girl Worth Saving
Chapter 2: A Night Ruined
A couple of weeks have past since Harry arrived at Hogwarts. By continuing his schoolwork as well as being head of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, Harry was exhausted.
Harry thought after the semi-final match against Ravenclaw, he would get a chance to slow things down and be with Ginny. Suddenly his mind changed and concentrated on the task at hand: The Quidditch World Cup Semi-Final. Madame Hooch tossed the Quaffle into the air. Ravenclaw charged at Gryffindor, forced the entire team to maneuver out of the way. Harry whistled as Quidditch watched in awe as the Gryffindors formed very quick duck and roll maneuver into a V-shape.
'Gryffindor spread out!' Harry yelled to his teammates.
'Ron, go right!' Katie left! Fred and George, guard the hoops, Angelina, help Ron and Katie, and I will find the Golden Snitch!'
'Kay, Harry.' Ron said.
'Gotcha.' Katie yelled.
The twins nodded and left to keep the other beaters busy. Angelina left immediately after hearing Harry's command. Everyone took his or her positions. Ravenclaw shot first, Fred and George blocked the shot, hitting the Quaffle toward Katie.
Katie speed past the Ravenclaw seeker, scored the first goal. Harry looked into the stands and saw Hagrid along with Hermione and Ginny. Harry staring at Ginny and she began to blush.
Hermione looks at Ginny then back at Harry. Almost being distracted from the match, Harry sees the Golden Snitch. He chases after it.
'Go Harry! Woo Hoo!' Hermione screams.
As Gryffindor continues to play through Ravenclaws' tough defense. The score was tied at 60 points apiece. Angelina watches Harry chase after the Golden Snitch; unaware of what is behind her, a Rogue Bludger hits her left arm causing her to fall, breaking it on the ground. Then it targets Harry.
Harry notices Angelina's fall, then he sees the Bludger coming after him. Remembering them from his second year on the team, he knew of ways to out maneuver this type of Bludger.
As Ginny watches in horror from the stands, Harry dives down towards the ground. With the Golden Snitch zipping in front him and the Rogue Bludger behind, he climbs on top of his broomstick, The Firebolt. Timing things just right, Harry leaps off his broomstick, lounging at the Snitch. Just before he grabs it, the Bludger strikes Harry in the side very hard. He falls to the ground, not moving.
Everyone is standing in silence. Ginny grabbed Hermione tightly. Both teams stop, Ron, Fred and George fly down and carefully turn Harry over.
'You all right, mate?' Ron asked.
Harry winces from the pain. He opens his hand, with the Golden Snitch in his possession; Gryffindor advances to the final Quidditch match against Slytherin.
'Ron, I think my ribs are broken.' Harry said painfully.
'Fred, George, let's get him to Madam Pomfrey.' Ron said.
Fred, George and Ron helped Harry to the Hospital Wing. As they enter, Madam Pomfrey has already prepared the bed for Harry. Madam Pomfrey grabbed her medical supplies and quickly discarded three boys out of the room. While in the waiting area, Ginny kept looking at the wall clock wondering about Harry. Seconds later, Madam Pomfrey opened the door and gave them the news.
'How's Harry, Madam Pomfrey? He going to be all right, isn't he?' Ginny asked frantically.
'He's going to be just fine, child.' Madam Pomfrey said calmly
'What about his ribs?' Ron asked.
'That's the bad news, Ronald. He has three broken ribs. I'm sorry. I've given him some Wound-Healing Potion, but he needs rest. Only one of you will be allowed to visit for now.'
'Go on, Ginny. Harry needs you more than us right now.' Hermione insisted.
'You sure, Hermione?'
'Yes, besides I've got Ron to keep me company for tonight.'
'Okay.'
Ginny walked quickly next to Harry's bed. She grabbed a chair and sat next to her injured boyfriend. Harry reached for Ginny's hand. Harry sounded very quiet do to the potion Madam Pomfrey gave him.
'I'm sorry. Ginny. I'm sorry you had to see me like this.'
'It's okay. Seeing you like this doesn't matter to me.'
'Ginny, will you do me favor?' Harry asked quietly.
'Anything, sweetheart.'
'Will you have someone else take you to the Yule Ball?' Harry began breaking to tears, while laying his head in Ginny's lap.
Ginny suddenly began to break down in tears as well.
'No. I'm going with you no matter what. You understand me?'
Harry shook his head 'yes.' Ginny laid Harry's head back into the pillow and kissed him.
'Don't worry, Harry. The Yule Ball isn't until this Friday. Madam Pomfrey said that you would be out of here before then. Besides I think you'll adore the dress I picked for the Ball.'
Ginny left the room. Everyone was still waiting for what Harry said to say to her.
'So...?' Ron asked.
'He's fine. But he was very upset that he wasn't going to get to go with me to the Yule Ball.' Ginny calmly said.
A couple days later...
Finally, it was Friday. Harry's injuries were almost fully recovered. Madam Pomfrey checked him out.
'Well, you'll have a giant bruise were that nasty Bludger hit you. But you'll be fine.'
'Thank you, Madam Pomfrey.'
'Now you go fun with Ms. Weasley. I know she'll need this tonight.'
She gave Harry the traditional flower the man gives his date. It was a sunflower. Harry knew Ginny liked sunflowers.
'A sunflower! Ginny adores this type of flower, but how did you know?
'Oh, it was Professor Sprout, she saw Ginny smiling at it.'
'Thanks a lot and I mean it.'
Harry saw the time. It was three hours before the Yule Ball. He ran into the Gryffindor Shower Room. He took a long shower. The moisture from the steam felt good on his bruise, it seemed to numb the pain. After he finished, Harry dressed in the tux Arthur Weasley loaned him. Harry grabs his surprise for Ginny. The Common Room was empty. He thought Ginny had left early. Then he saw beam of light was seen going down the stairwell. The light was in Harry's face. Then light veered away, revealing Ginny.
Ginny walked down to the landing stairs of the Common Room. Harry was in awe. Harry had never an angel of such beauty. Her hair was curled down to her shoulders with small flowers tied into it. She also had a small heart necklace around her gorgeous neck; one that Harry gave her on their first date. Her dress was long. Her dress straps sayed on her shoulders while she wore arm length gloves. Ginny looked very eye gazing she almost looked like she was wearing a future wedding dress.
'Hello, Harry.'
'Ginny. You are a sight for sore eyes.'
Harry walked up to the landing and escorted Ginny down the stairs.
'Ginny I have something for you.'
He gave her the sunflower that Madam Pomfrey gave him.
'A Sunflower! How did you know?'
'I have my sources.'
'Thank you so much, Harry.'
She gave Harry a much-desired kiss. One he would remember forever. Ginny put a red rose in Harry's coat pocket.
'Let's go and have fun.' Harry said.
They left together, holding each other's hand.
The Yule Ball, the entire Great Hall was in a snowy white. Icicle swans gave the entire room a gleaming, sparkle look. There was a large crystal chandelier hanging over the middle of the dance floor. Luckily Harry didn't have to dance first, like he did during the Tri-Wizard Tournament. He just wanted to have a fun time with Ginny. There, he and Ginny met up with Ron and Hermione. He also noticed Draco Malfoy and his partners Crabbe and Goyle there too. But that wasn't going stop him from having fun.
As Harry entered the room, McGonagall got up and address the students and faculty.
'Attention. Attention. Everyone listen up please.'
The entire room quieted down and listened.
'Thank you everyone. Now in light of the recent tragedy that occurred here last year, I would like a certain student to give his thoughts on this man. Harry Potter!'
The crowd turned and watched him go up to face them. Ginny understood why he had to address the crowd.
'Hello. I know most of you know me because of this.' Harry moved his hair back to show entire room the scar on his head.
'Yes the scar is legendary. But most of you don't know the "real" me. I'm like the rest of you, just an ordinary person. But this isn't about me. This about the man we loved. His name was Albus Dumbledore. He was good man. He was teacher and a friend. But to me, Dumbledore was like a grandfather.'
Ginny and Hermione began to tear up. Malfoy looked at Crabbe and Goyle and rolled his eyes and whispered. 'This is ridiculous.'
'I know that he's up there watching over us. I know he would like to be here with us. But he is here. In our hearts, we will remember Dumbledore and enjoy ourselves. Thanks. That's all I have to say.'
Harry took off his glasses and wiped his eyes.
'Thank you, Harry.' McGonagall said.
As Harry walked back to the table where Ginny was sitting, the room returned to the way it was before, full of chatter.
After being on the dance floor for a couple of hours, Harry started to get up from the table. Ginny got suspicious.
'Where are you going Harry?'
'Wait here. I've got a surprise for you.'
Ginny watched Harry walk up to the band. He talked the lead singer and requested a song. Harry rushed back to the table where Ginny was eagerly anticipating her surprise. Harry gave his hand to her.
'Would you care to dance with me, Ginny?'
'How can I say no to the man I love.'
Harry walked Ginny to the dance floor, he nodded to the band. The band began playing a slow dance song. 'This one's going out to all the lovers out there. Hold each other tight, and keep each other warm. Especially to a young woman named Ginny Weasley.'
Harry held Ginny close as they began. Her eyes began tear.
'You know what this is?'
'Magic Works! I love this song!' Ginny said tearfully.
As the song continues, Professor McGonagall gave a very smooth swish and flick. The entire room dimmed down and the chandelier gave a single beam onto Harry and Ginny. The two lovers stared into each other eyes. Harry twirled Ginny around smoothly. As the ended, it Harry kissed Ginny in front of everyone. McGonagall smiled, while Hagrid did the same, but chuckled. Everyone cheered and whistled while Harry and Ginny bowed to the crowd. The light gathers back to full strength.
Then Draco stepped onto the floor with his date. He and his date smirked Harry and Ginny. 'Hit it boys.' The band began playing "Do the Hippogriff." Soon everyone jumped in. As the song was about fully over the ceiling begins to shake. Everyone stopped and looked up.
The chandelier began breaking into pieces. Then it fell towards Ginny. Harry grabbed her and jumped out of the way. Panic screaming begins. A large hole is left in the ceiling.
'Silence!!!' McGonagall yelled out everyone. 'Everyone please do not panic. I'm sure this was just an accident. However, for safety precautions, I would like everyone to proceed to their dormitories.'
Suddenly, the words 'Avada Kadavra' are echoed throughout the room. The band stage explodes and members going flying out a nearby window to their deaths. A tall man with red eyes floats down onto the stage. The Dark Mark appears in the darkness.
'Voldemort' Harry gasped as his scar began to burn.
'What? What do you mean, "Voldemort?"'
'Hello Harry. We meet again. Rictusempra!' The dark voice said.
Harry flew back into a nearby wall. Ginny screamed.
'HARRY!!'
'Ginny, run! Go to Ron! This is between me and him!'
'No, I'm not leaving you!'
'You must! Go now!' Harry screamed.
With a wave of his hand, Voldemort threw Harry into Hermione and Ron. Ginny was all alone. 'Hello, my dear.' Ginny screamed for Harry as Voldemort grabbed her.

Voldemort growled at Harry. 'Crucio!' Harry fell to the floor in pain. Harry gasped for breath as he watched Voldemort carried Ginny away.
'Harry, help me!' Ginny screamed.
Ron and Hermione got up and ran to Harry. Harry passed out by his re-injured ribs.
As Voldemort began to flee, he throw a scroll to Hermione.
'Give this to Potter.'
