Chapter 2: First Detention
Chapter 2: First Detention
Chiara awoke late in the morning realizing that she had missed about 15 minutes of her DADA class with Snape. She jumped out of her bed and dressed in to her school uniform as quickly as she could, not worrying about how bad she looked when she had finished all she could think about was getting to class before she got in to deep trouble with Snape. She grabbed her books and ran out of her room and through the common room wondering how she did not wake up in time.
Chiara ran through the corridors sliding past corners and jumping down steps. She was now 30 minutes late for class. She walked through the corridor that led to the courtyard and stopped at the front of the door that had a bold sign saying “DEFENCE AGAINS THE DARK ARTS, PROFESSOR SNAPE.” Chiara put her hand on the door knob and slowly opened it. She looked through the gap and saw one student turn to the door and look back at her. Chiara froze she felt embarrassed to walk in to the class when everyone was looking at her.
“Miss Chalmers!?” Snape’s voice boomed. Chiara opened the door and stepped in to the class.
“Yes Sir.” Chiara replied looking down at her feet. Her heart pounding nervously as she felt a class of eyes staring at her, almost feeling like they were burning her skin.
“Do you care to explain why you are late to my class?” Snape walked up the middle of the tables and stood in front of Chiara eyeing her movements carefully.
“I slept in sir.” Chiara whispered just loud enough for him to hear. She felt clumsy, stupid and also a little scared at how close her own father was standing near her.
“That is no excuse for coming late to my class.” Snape’s voice boomed in her ear. Students started to mutter to each other and laugh at Chiara’s foolishness. “You will join me tonight to make up for the 35 minutes you missed.” Snape lent down and whispered in to Chiara’s ear softly but with his droned tone. Chiara felt a shiver go down her spine. “Now take a seat!” Chiara jumped as he yelled at her. She looked around the class looking for somewhere to sit when she saw Draco waving at her.
Chiara walked over to the spare chair next to him and sat down. “Thank you Draco” Chiara murmured. She took her books out of her bag as quickly as she could trying not to waste anymore of Snape’s time.
“No problem.” Draco whispered to her. “I’ve never seen Snape talk to a Slytherin like that before.”
“I guess he just doesn’t like me.” Chiara frowned, she hoped he didn’t despise her if he did it would make it just that much harder to live knowing her father by blood didn’t like her.
“Don’t worry about him, he’s you know, crazy.” Draco sniggered.
“Yeah I know.” Chiara kept her eye on Snape, watching how he moved and the faces he made at students when he glared at them. Draco noticed that Chiara was looking at Snape for a long while.
“Is there something wrong with Snape?” Draco asked.
“There’s always something wrong with him.” Chiara for no real reason at all burst out laughing. Again the students in the class looked at her with scorning eyes. Chiara couldn’t believe what she had just done. Her hand flew over her mouth as she suffered a glare from Snape.
“WHAT IS SO FUNNY!” Snape shouted as he ran up to Chiara’s side.
“Nothing sir. I’m so sorry.” Chiara replied feeling her fear of her father start to fade away.
“We’ll make that 2 hours now Miss Chalmers. DO not disrupt my class again!” Snape stormed off.
“No sir” Chiara nodded. Draco looked at Chiara strangely. She was acting slightly weird this morning; she never got in to trouble with Snape. She was always a teachers pet to everyone one of her teachers. Chiara looked up at Snape as he started preparing papers to give out to the students in the class. Chiara wondered if she would ever get around to telling him the truth about her or if his behavior would keep her back from ever telling him.

Chiara was sitting on the dirty floor of Snape’s office sorting out his potion papers. She filed the potions in alphabetical order and was almost at the end extremely excited to be leaving the office soon. She didn’t like being here especially when he was glaring at her from his desk. She wondered what she would have turned out to be if she was raised by him. That was all she could think about since she had found out he was her father. Would she have turned out to be the female Draco Malfoy?
She was scared to think how she would have turned out; she knew it wouldn’t have been good. She would have been a slutty bitch that always put people down and picked on innocent people. Chiara was not like that, she was nice and caring and certainly not slutty. She finished filing the last potion card and stood up.
“I’ve finished sir.” Chiara said clearly and eagerly. Snape’s head shot up and he glared at her for a while in silence.
“Very well then.” Snape smirked. “I do not want to see you behave the way you did this morning. If you do anything remotely like you have done in my class you shall see yourself in detention very often.” Snape snapped hastily.
“Yes sir.” Chiara grabbed her bag and left the office letting the door slam behind her. She thought that it would be good to go for a walk outside for a little while. Even though it was late at night she didn’t think of getting caught. She walked out in to the court yard and out towards the lake. She walked around looking down at her feet. ‘Professor, my mother told me you’re my biological father.’ “No that’s not going to work.” Chiara shook her head. “Professor I have something to tell you you’re my-” Chiara felt herself walk in to something hard and tall. She looked up from her feet and saw a dashing boy with raven black hair, round glasses and a lightning bolt scar on his head. “I’m so sorry Harry.” Chiara apologized.
“Don’t worry about it.” Harry replied. “Who were you talking to?” Harry asked smiling. Chiara felt her heart jump. She hoped that he hadn’t heard what she had said.
“Oh no one.” Chiara shrugged.
“Alright then, I best be off. Don’t want Filtch to catch me.” Harry looked around him to make sure no one had seen them.
“Yeah I’ll see you.” Chiara kept walking away from the castle as Harry walked towards it.
Harry walked towards the school looking back at Chiara as she walked away from him. He was surprised that she was so nice, he had never talked to a Slytherin civilly before. Not only was she nice but she was extremely pretty.
