Chapter 2: No, Those Are the Babies
Chapter 2: No, Those Are the Babies
"James I want to go to a muggoctooctor," Lily demanded
"Why? All they do is jab you with pointy things and cut you up."
"No they don't. Not when you're going in for a bloody check up. I think I'd know James," Lily stated.
"No Lils we’re going to St Mungo’s," James wouldn’t quit.
"Alright James Potter," Lily gave in. "We better get going now." Lily grabbed her bag and a jacket.
"Why now?" James asked.
"Because I want to get there before anyone else does. Other wise it will take hours to go and see the healer." Lily grabbed one of James' jackets and threw it at him.
"Lily you're always thinking ahead." James' pulled on his jacket.
"Of course." Lily took James' hand and they left their house. They went for a little walk, Lily deciding it would be better to walk then drive since the entrance to St Mungo’s was only a few streets down.
"Lils, I don't want to walk." James whined.
"Oh come on James Potter, you need to stop your babyish attitude we’re going to have a baby so you can’t be one anymore."
"Yeah alright I see your point, but until that baby is born I'll use my babyish attitude to its full extent," James joked.
"Funny James," Lily laughed.
"That's me. James Potter always funny."
"Yeah, but most of the time you're just annoying."
"If I'm annoying the why did you marry me and why are you having my kid?"
"I don't know James. Why don't you tell me?" Lily smiled. James pulled Lily's hand to his mouth and kissed it. "That's a good reason, too."
"It should be," James smirked. Lily looked around at the old department store. She looked over at a dummy that she was supposed to talk to.
“Hi I’ve come for a check up.” Lily said. The dummy nodded. Lily took James’ hand once again and they both walked through the dirty glass window. Lily looked around at the first floor. She led James over to the main desk.
"Hello how may I help you?" The trainee healer asked.
"I would like to see Liza Donahue." Lily said.
"Oh yes Mrs. Potter. Come right through." The trainee healer walked around the desk and led Lily and James in to a room that had a bed and a couple of chairs in it. “You can sit where ever you want. The healer will be in in a moment.”
“Thanks.” Lily sat down on a chair next to James. They both waited for a little bit when the door opened.
"Hello Lily." The healer came in.
"Hello Liza," Lily smiled..
“J.” L.” Liza looked at James.
“Hello Liza.” James just nodded.
“This is your first baby yes?” Liza sat down in a chair.
“Yes.” Lilly nodded excitedly.
"Do you know how long you are?"
"About 12 weeks I'd say," Lily replied.
"Good." Liza took out her wand. She pointed it at Lily’s stomach. “I’ll just do a few check ups on the baby.” A misty screen appeared behind the healer. James and Lily looked at the screen. On the screen came up a fuzzy picture. Liza looked at the screen and then smiled. "There isn't anything wrong," Liza assured.
“Oh good.” Lily sighed.
"Is that the baby?" James asked pointing to the screen.
"No, that’s the babies," Liza corrected.
"Sorry?" Lily looked confused.
"You two are having twins," Liza said excitedly.
"Twins?!" James looked closer at the screen. "Can you find out if they are a boy or a girl?"
"Yes," the doctor nodded.
"Can you tell me?" James asked.
"Sure." Liza pointed to one of the fuzzy little babies. "This one is a boy."
"A boy, Lils," James said excitedly. Lily just sat still showing no emotion when an overwhelming feeling of tragedy hit her.
"And the other one is a girl." Liza pointed at a slightly smaller fuzzy baby.
"And a girl. Look we have a whole family already." James looked over to his dazed wife. Lily felt extreme heart ach, she had no idea why. This was supposed to be a special moment. She was having twins for Merlin’s sake.
"You're child will not survive being a Potter! You must save her, you must keep her safe, send her away or there will be dire consequences! She will be too weak, she won't cope! Please keep her safe!".
Lily heard that over and over in her head. Deciding to keep it cool and not scare James or the doctor she decided to speak.
"That's so good," Lily said with fake enthusiasm.
"Yes.” Liza nodded. She took her wand away from Lily’s stomach and the screen disappeared.
"This is so good. Not one baby but two, Lils, two!" James grabbed her and hugged her.
"I know James, I know," Lily said dully.
"Now is there anything else that you would like to know?" Liza asked.
"No," Lily shook her head. "I'm sorry Liza but I must get going now." Lily lied. James looked at her oddly.
"Oh no that is ok Lily. I shall see you back here some time soon for your next check up."
"Yes, yes. Of course," Lily nodded.
"Good."
"Thank you for today," Lily said, urgently wanting to get out of St Mungo’s.
"No problem," Liza smiled.
"Ok. I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t tell anyone about this. Ok?”
“Of course Lily.” Liza nodded. James stared at his wife in awe. What was going on with her?
“Good bye." Lily left the room feeling her tears come down her cheeks. James stood there for a bit.
"James?" Liza looked at him.
"Oh sorry. Thanks. I'll see you again." James shook Liza's hand and followed Lily out of St Mungo’s. "Lily!" James called. Lily kept walking. "Lily?" James walked up behind her. "What's wrong with you?"
“Sorry James, nothing is wrong.” Lily lied. “I guess I’m just overwhelmed I suppose.” Lily wiped away her tears.
“What was that about not telling anyone about us having twins?”
“Maybe we should just keep that quiet for now? Please. I just feel a little wrong.”
"You're child will not survive being a Potter! You must save her, you must keep her safe, send her away or there will be dire consequences! She will be too weak, she won't cope! Please keep her safe!".
“What’s wrong Lils?” James took his wife’s hand in to his. Lily felt as though she wanted to bash her head in, the voice was going over and over in her head. Saying the same thing.
“I don’t quite know. Just please James trust me.” Lily whispered.
“Alright Lils I will.” James put his arm around his wife’s shoulder and they both continued walking back to their house.

Lily sat in her lounge room holding her head in her hands. Still the voice was circling in her head. Stop it! Lily said in her mind. Please just stop it. What does this all mean? What is wrong with my daughter? Lily asked the voice.
She is weak, she is not strong enough to be a Potter. You must help her keep her safe. Give her away to someone she can live with. I warn you Lily Potter that it will not be right for her to live with you.
How is she weak? James and I aren’t weak. What about the Boy why do I not have to give him away?
She is different to you and James. She will not be able to stop what is going to happen to her if she is raised as a Potter. She needs a suitable family. For the boy the boy will be as strong as anything else in our world. He will not have any problem.
I can’t do this to James, I can’t do this to her. She is my child! I want her with me. She will be fine.
Lily you do not understand! Give her away and keep it quiet. You must keep her safe. The voice demanding. Lily just broke out in to loud sobs.
“Lils!” James ran in to the lounge room after hearing his wife’s sobs.
"James something bad is going to happen to one of the babies." Lily said as tears ran down her cheek.
"Where did that come from?" James asked.
"I don't know James. Something is telling me. It won't stop its going over and over in my head right now." Lily tapped the side of her head.
"Maybe you're just nervous." James took Lily's hand in to his.
"No James I'm not! I'm totally serious, I feel sick and sad," Lily shouted.
"Come on Lils, what do you want us to do?" James was worried.
"I don't know," Lily shrugged. "If we want her to live we have to give her away."
"WHAT?!" James shouted. "I'm not giving our child away. What about the boy? It’s going to be very unfair for the girl!"
"James don't you think I know that?" Lily said angrily. "But it’s for her own good."
"How about we just see how you are in a few days. Maybe it’s just a faze," James suggested.
"It's not a faze James. You can't tell anyone about us having twins," Lily whispered dangerously.
"Lils, think about what you're saying." James was now overly worried.
"I know what I'm saying James and I want you to trust me on it, otherwise out marriage is nothing." Lily wiped away her tears. "I want her just as much as you do but we have to do things to keep her safe."
"Alright." James felt as though he would break out in to tears but being the man he was he didn't. Lily looked down at the ground, her eyes continuously watering like a water tap left running. He raised his hand and brushed her hair, as he pulled her into him.
"James I want to go to a muggoctooctor," Lily demanded
"Why? All they do is jab you with pointy things and cut you up."
