Harmonia: Yes I thought that Neville becoming the DADA teacher would be the only thing that would send Snape over the edge. I have my reasons for needing Neville in the story…

Ginny smiled as she apparated in Hogsmede. Her smile grew wider as she looked around the wizarding village. She walked into the Three Broomsticks and looked around her eyes resting on her good friend Neville Longbottom. He certainly had changed over the last 10 years. He finally had grown out of his baby fat and was actually quite tall and as imposing as Ginny remembered his grandmother to be. Ginny sd wad warmly as she thought of the timid little boy she had once known.
“Neville what have you done? You don’t loike ike yourself.” Ginny teased gently as she gave the sandy blonde a warm hug and a kiss on the cheek.
“I certainly hope I look different Gin. I don’t torture myself 5 times a week in a muggle gym for nothing you know. By the way you look pretty wonderful yourself.” Ginny met Neville’s warm eyes and knew that her friend from so long ago had not changed all that much.
As they sat down and shared a companionable drink they didn’t know that a pair of ice blue eyes had also noticed the changes in Ginny Weasley over the years. How her bright red hair had darkened to a burnished copper and the long locks had been expertly styled in a bob that seemed to caress her chin as she moved. She was even more beautiful to him now than she was at 16 when he had graduated Hogwarts and had gone to Geneva. He wished he could just join the two friends but he knew what Auror Longbottom thought of him. He knew what most aurors thought of him. It didn’t matter that he had done the right thing and changed sides, he was his father’s son; what more did anyone need to say. The auror had made it clear that when the fighting was over he had better be gone because he was going to get what he deserved for seven years of insults. With those dark memories He stood and left the pub deciding that he had better leave before the auror noticed him.

Arm in arm the two reacquainted friends walked into the teacher’s common room where the staff were gathered for the beginning or term meetings. They were still deep in conversation when they sat side by side and waited for the meeting to begin. In a matter of moments the door of the room opened and revealed their Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall. Ginny smiled as it seemed that the Transfiguration Professor she remembered from her own days at Hogwarts had not radically changed except for a little more grey in her severe bun.
Ginny watched as Minerva McGonagall looked around the room and took a deep breath. “Let’s get started then shall we. I would like to first welcome three new teachers too our ranks. You should recognize them all from the halls of Hogwarts as they were all students here. First let us welcome Neville Longbottom as our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.” The rest of the assembled teachers clapped politely. “Next, Virginia Weasley, replacing Professor Flitwick as our Charms instructor and the new Head of Gryffindor House.” Ginny smiled as her name was politely applauded. “Lastly let us welcome Draco Malfoy who is replacing Severus Snape as Potions Master and Head of Slytherin House.” At this announcement there was astonished shock. Ginny looked to where their Headmistress indicated and met grey eyes and a self satisfied smirk. Applause began sporadically and was half hearted at best. All of the teachers the the younger Malfoy’s history including that of his Death Eater father.
“Yes, well let’s make our new teachers feel at home and if any of you have any questions please feel free to ask me or any of your fellow teachers. Now then let’s get down to business…” The rest of the continued with announcements for the beginning of the year and the usual complaints from Mr. Filch and the inclusion of a few more items to be added to the list of forbidden objects all of witch were from the Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes collection. Ginny smiled at this because her twin brothers had become even more successful than Zonko’s ever was and that two of her nephews were joining four of their cousins already at Hogwarts.
At the end of the meeting Ginny and Neville parted to seek out their rooms with the promise to meet for dinner in the great Hall later that evening. Ginny first started off to find her office on the fourth floor. She had only gone a few feet when a smooth voice stopped her.
“Well Virginia, aren’t you happy to see me?” Ginny turned and looked at a smirking Draco Malfoy who seemed to be draped in the doorway of the common room she had just departed.
“I’m not sure Malfoy, it’s not like you could have warned me that you were going to be here also. I’m surprised that you are even here to tell you the truth. I would have thought that your quidditch team and your gaggle of women would keep you far too busy for a lowly teaching position.”
“Ah yes the Weasley rapier wit. d sod so forgotten. It is a good thing then that there is only one of you to put up with.”
Ginny couldn’t help but smile evilly at Draco and debated for a moment whether or not to tell him. Her inner devil got the better of her and Ginny smiled wide. “Sorry Draco there isn’t only one Weasley,” Ginny paused dramatically as Draco raised an inquiring perfect eyebro“But“But seven. Oh I do hope you have a good year.” With a laugh at the shocked expression on the head Slytherin’s face Ginny turned and continued on to her office. This was going to be a good year.

Ginny walked into the Great Hall just as the other teachers were sitting down to a single tablethe the middle of the room. The house tables had been pushed to the sides of the room as the students were not coming till the next week. There were chairs down both sides of the long mahogany table so that the teachers could converse easily. Neville had saved her a seat near the head of the table near the Headmistress. With a smile for her friend she took her seat. She looked across the table and smiled to see Draco was glowering at her from his place. Soon they were all delighted by the varied meals that appeared in front of them. It seemed that the school house elves had given each diner their favorite meal.
“So Miss Weasley how many of your family will be joining us this year?”
Ginny turned and smiled at the Headmistress. “Well, only two new ones this year Ian and Douglane sne son each from the twins. Ian is Fred’s and Douglas belongs to George. Though I have to warn you, these two are almost as bad as the twins were, thicker than thieves my mum says.”
“So that makes six Weasley cousins. Oh dear, I am not sure Gryffindor will be able to handle the detentions or the points that will be lost.” Minerva chuckled.
“Ian and Douglas I can keep control of. Have no fear Minerva.” Ginny paused and conred red the other four Weasleys. “Bill’s dauwhywr is a sixth year; Shelly will be too wrapped up in quidditch to get into mischief. Charlie Jr., starting his seventh year, will be there right along with her. Percy’s daughter Sarah is no problem she is just like her dad. She is more interested ir str studies than to make trouble with her younger cousins. Now, Bill’s son Carter, who is starting his fifth year with Sarah, will be the one to lead Ian and Douglas straight to detention. I have permission from my brothers to use any means necessary to keep the three hooligans’ in line though.” Ginny laughed. She knew that the three boys would be spending a good amount of time in detention that year no matter what she or their parents threatened.
Dinner continued on companionably until the teachers retired to their offices or quarters. It seemed that the struggles and fear that had ruled over the wizarding community in the past had died with Voldemort.
