The Beginning

Ok I am SSSSOOOOO sorry that I have been gone so long. I am going to be trying to update a little more frequently so bear with me. Ok so please read and review.


~Chapter seventeen: At the movies with my baby~

Sirius and Isis got dressed and grabbed their jackets. Sirius climbed onto the bike and Isis got on behind him and grabbed his waist. “Ready.” He asked.
“Yup.” Isis said pulling herself closer to Sirius.
Sirius put the key in the ignition and kicked off. Isis was freezing by the time they found a cinema. She and Sirius had driven around London for over two hours looking for one. In fact they had passed the cinema and Isis had slapped Sirius’s upper arm. “Right there! You missed it.”
Sirius turned the bike around and went into the parking garage. He and Isis walked through the corridor feeling slightly out of place. Isis had never dressed in muggle clothes until she moved to England and Sirius had actually borrowed clothes from James because all he had were the wizard’s robes. He hadn’t thought to bring muggle clothes.
Isis grabbed Sirius’s hand when a tall blonde with skintight clothes (if you can call strips of cloth barely coving private body parts clothes) walked by eyeing Sirius hopefully. Sirius however seemed unaware of the fact that the girl was staring at him. After Isis grabbed Sirius’s hand he pulled her close and put his hand in her back pocket.
“So did Lily recommend any of theses modies when she was talking to you?”
“Movies, Sirius. No she didn’t recommend any.”
Sirius tweaked Isis’s butt, “Then lets find one shall we.” Sirius said as they came up on the cinema.
Isis and Sirius searched the titles until they found one that was playing. “Julia.” Isis said. “That doesn’t sound too bad.”
Sirius looked at the poster. “I suppose.” He put his hand back in Isis’s back pocket as they walked into the theater. They stopped at the concession stand. Sirius wrinkled his nose. “What is all this junk?”
“Food.” Isis said looking at a popcorn bucket. “I think.” She added seeing the butter substitute.
Sirius let his eyes scan over the menu. “Do you want any of this?” He asked running a hand through his hair. Isis saw him open his wallet and frown; he was obviously out of muggle money.
“It’s okay. I don’t need anything.” Isis said putting an arm around his waist.
Sirius smiled. “Okay then.”
When they got into the theater room they found they were the only ones there. Sirius settled himself in seat on the back row. Isis sat down next to him. Sirius put his arm around Isis’s shoulder as the lights dimmed. Isis seemed to be waiting on springs. There was still so much she had to learn about the muggle world.
No more then ten minutes into the movie Isis was already lethargic and Sirius had begun digging into the jean pockets. Isis turned to him. “This is boring.”
Sirius put his arm back around Isis’s shoulders. “It’s not completely wasted. We’re all alone. It’s dark…”
Isis kissed him on the cheek. “You just don’t want to freeze on the bike again.”
“You can’t tell me that you’re ready to get back on the bike in the freezing cold, in the middle of winter.”
“No, I can’t say that I really want to get on the bike right now. I just got warm.”
Sirius pulled Isis’s face towards his own and kissed her tenderly. He pulled away and smiled. “Why do your kisses excite me?”
Isis kissed his forehead, “Because you love me.” She said sweetly
Sirius looked up at the ceiling. “No.” he replied playfully.
Isis put her arms around his neck, “Then I guess I should let Remus carry out what ever threat his uses to keep you in line.”
Sirius pretended to pale. “No! Please!” He cupped Isis’s face and laughed. “Let’s sit here and pretend to be interested in this.”
Sirius put his arm around Isis’s shoulder and pulled her close. Sirius and Isis sat and made jokes through the whole film, but it was satisfying to sit and laugh together.
After the movie ended Isis still didn’t want to go home so she and Sirius decided to walk around London. “It’s so big here.” Isis said.
“New York is big.” Sirius said looking at her.
“I never lived in New York City.” Isis said. “Sometimes I forget that I live in London now, but I like here. There is something so different about a big city. The noise and the activity, it’s exciting.”
Sirius smiled, “I never lived anywhere but here and Hogwarts. I like Hogsmead better though it’s small and quiet. There’s a subtle presence there that no city could ever have.”
“You’d love where I come from then?”
“What’s the elven city like?”
“Well it’s circular with dirt paths leading to farms. Then it turns to cobble stone that goes into the city itself. The houses are suspended from trees so the city is fifty feet high. The market stands at the very center. The palace is just beyond the market.” Isis frowned slightly. “I do miss it.”
Sirius looked into Isis’s eyes. “I know you do. I wish I could say I miss home but…”
“Where did you live?” Isis asked.
Sirius looked around, “Just a few blocks from here.” Sirius stuffed his hands in his pockets. “I didn’t even realize we were walking towards it.”
Isis looked into the distance. “Do you want to turn around?”
“Do you?” Sirius asked with out looking at her. He too was staring hard into the distance.
Isis couldn’t bear his tone. It sounded hollow and dead. “I’m ready to go home.” She lied. Isis didn’t really want to go back home. She wanted to run back to the Elven City, she wanted to see her best friends again. Isis would have even gone to Grimwald Square if Sirius had wanted to. She didn’t want to face her aunt or have Remus ask a hundred questions. It was in that moment that Isis realized that she and Sirius were one and the same. There were both looking for the same thing. A home.
Sirius turned around and guided Isis by the small of her back. He could have kicked himself walking towards his parent’s house. How much dumber could he have gotten. His parents were the last people Sirius wanted to see and he was positive they didn’t want to see him either. He looked over at Isis and she beamed up at him. Sirius pulled her close this was what he had wanted all those years of empty searching. He wanted someone who could read him the way she had, and her looks were certainly a bonus. The walk back to the parking garage took forever, but Isis and Sirius walked together as a comfortable silence fell over them.
Back in the parking garage Sirius let go of Isis’s waist and took her by the hand. “Can’t wait to get back to your place and warm up.” He said as he mounted the bike.
Isis climbed on after him. “A hot bath would feel really nice right now.”
Sirius looked back at Isis and smiled before he kicked off. “Yes it would.”
Isis looked at him peevishly.
Sirius turned around, “My noble work is done.” He said as the bike roared to life.
By the time that Isis and Sirius got home it was almost dawn. Sirius followed Isis up the stairs to the washroom. “You don’t need to come in with me.” Isis said firmly.
“I know.” Sirius said, “but would you mind if I brushed my teeth?”
Isis smiled, “Yes, I mind terribly.” She giggled. “Get in here.”
Sirius watched Isis let her hair down and smiled around his toothbrush. She had pulled the hair tie out and was brushing it out. Isis turned to face him.
“You look so goofy.”
Sirius rinsed his mouth, “but I smell nice.” He said kissing the tip of Isis nose.
Isis smiled. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
Sirius went downstairs and crawled into his sleeping bag. This had been one of the best nights of his life. It had been a long time since he just wondered around like that. He cursed himself for not realizing what good company Isis had been until the previous month. He knew better now and he was never going to take her for granted again, he hoped.
