Summer Love

Chapter 14

The summer passed. Severus and Hermione returned to Hogwarts and the new school term began. Everyone at Hogwarts greeted Hermione happily and was glad her treatments had succeeded. Hermione was happy to be back at Hogwarts with her friends and fiancee.

“Welcome, welcome. This year is a fresh start here at Hogwarts. To our older students welcome back. To our new ones, welcome. As you can see we have a familiar face with us tonight. I would like to introduce Miss Hermione Granger, who is Professor McGonagall’s apprentice. I would also like to welcome back our Potions Master, Professor Snape.

“Now, just a few start of term notices. The Forbidden Forest is off limits to all students. There will be no magic used in the corridors. Mr. Filtch has added a few more prohibited objects to his list. If anyone would like to read the list, it is posted on the door of his office. Now, tuck in.” Albus said.

The Great Hall was quickly filled with talk and laughter. Hermione sat in between Minerva and Severus. Hermione and Minerva were talking about what would be expected of her during her apprenticeship. Hermione was in for a long year, but at least she was with Severus and her friends.

“So, have you and Severus set a date or place for the wedding?” Minerva asked.

“We’ve decided on a June wedding. We’re not sure when though. Once we decide, I’ll be writing to my grandfather Alexander and ask if we could have the wedding at his manor in Cornwall.” Hermione answered.

“Now that she’s fully healed we have all the time we need to plan this wedding.” Severus threw out.

“I agree. Hermione, we’ll have an early start. Right after breakfast. I suggest you get plenty of rest.” Minerva said.

Hermione nodded. After dinner Hermione and Severus went for a moon lit walk near the lake. The couple walked hand-in-hand near the shore, taking in the clean, cool fall air. Both a peace with the world.

“Severus.” she said.

“Yes?” he asked.

“Let’s get married this upcoming summer. I don’t think I could wait any longer.” she answered.

“Are you sure love?” he questioned as he faced her.

Hermione nodded. Severus smiled and pulled her into his arms and kissed her. Hermione melted into his arms. Ten minutes later, the happy couple returned to the castle. They had agreed that for the first month at least, that Hermione would sleep in the quarters Albus had provided.

“Good night love. Sleep well.” Severus said as they paused at her door.

“Good night Severus. I will see you at breakfast.” Hermione replied.

They shared a loving kiss and headed for bed. Hermione changed for bed then sat at her desk. She quickly wrote a letter to her grandfather requesting the use of his Cornwall manor. William Alexander had become fixated on magic ever since he found out his granddaughter was a witch.

Once Hermione finished the letter, she sealed it and set it aside to send to the owlery in the morning before breakfast. She then turned out the lights and laid down to go to sleep. And so Hermione’s routine began. Every morning after breakfast she went with Minerva. She was either helping out in the first through third year classes, grading papers or running errands for Minerva. It was hard work, but Hermione loved it. A month later, she received a response from her grandfather.

My Darling Hermione,

I or rather your grandmother and I were pleased that you made a successful recovery. We are also ecstatic about your upcoming wedding. In response to your request, the answer is yes.
Your grandmother and I would be honored for you and Severus to be married at the manor. Perhaps sometime soon the four of us could get together for dinner.
Talk it over with your fiancee and let us know.

Sincerely,
Grandfather

Hermione was thrilled. She couldn’t wait to tell Severus at dinner. Minerva had given her the last period off. Hermione was sitting in her sitting room by the fire. The date and location had now been set. Now they had to ask Albus if he would marry them on June 16th of the next year.

Knock. Knock.

“Come in!” Hermione called out.

“Hey girl.” Pansy said as she and Millicent entered the room.

“Hey! How are you guys?” Hermione asked.

“Fine. Have you two decided anymore about the wedding?” Millicent replied.

“I just got a letter from my grandfather Alexander. He says we can use his manor in Cornwall for the wedding and reception. Tonight I figured Severus and I would ask Albus if he would perform the ceremony.” Hermione answered.

“He’ll say yes. You and Severus both know that.” Pansy said.

“We know, but it’s still polite to ask.” Hermione said with a smile.

The girls chatted about their guy clear up till it was time for dinner. Hermione told Severus about the letter she had received. After dinner the couple asked Albus if he would marry them.

“It would be an honor and a privilege. You need not even ask.” Albus said, his blue eyes dancing merrily.

“Thank you sir. This really means a lot to Hermione and I.” Severus said.

“This mean so much to us Albus.” Hermione added as she hugged the older Wizard.

And so life continued. Hermione and the others continued their apprenticeships, Hermione and Severus met her grandparents, who fell in love with him, and planned their wedding. Christmas came and went.

It was now February. Hermione and Severus were sitting in his quarters. It was Valentine’s Day. The couple decided to just spend the night inside cuddling up with a book.

“I love being able to just be together.” Hermione said.

“I agree. As I said yesterday, tonight nothing happens unless you say.” Severus added.

“Well, there’s nothing wrong with a snogging session. We have the rest of our lives to make up for it.” she said with a smile.

Just then an owl flew in. The owl landed in front of Hermione. Hermione removed the letter and opened it. It was from Harry.

Dear Hermione and Professor Snape,

First of all, I’d like to apologize. For the past seven months the healers here at St. Mungo’s have helped me see just how wrong I was. About everything.
Hermione, I know it wasn’t your fault about Ron. I always knew. The healers said that I had a break from reality or something like that. I guess I just never accepted his death. But I have now.
I’m being released next month. Once I’m out, I’m going on a sabbatical. I’m not sure where I’m going or how long I’ll be gone. Just know that I’m so sorry for what I’ve done to you two.
Enclosed is a form. This is my wedding gift to you two. I want you to have Godric Hollow. I know Professor Snape has Paradise Manor, but think of this as a vacation home. I wish you two a long and happy marriage. Perhaps when I return we can get together for dinner. Good luck and best wishes.

Sincerely,
Harry J. Potter

Hermione and Severus were a little surprised. Sirius had told them Harry was so much better. Both Hermione and Severus were glad that Harry was now healed.

“I can’t believe he’s giving us his parent’s house.” Hermione said.

“He truly is his mother’s son. That’s the type of thing Lily would have done.” Severus replied.

“I’m glad he’s getting out. I’m sure the traveling will do him some good.” she said as she snuggled into his arms.

“I agree.” he said.

The rest of the year passed without incident. Harry was released and began his travels. He wrote to Hermione, Severus, Sirius, Remus and Albus often. He was loving his travels and had started to find peace at last. In no time June arrived. It was now the morning of the wedding.

“Oh darling. You look so beautiful. I can’t believe my dear granddaughter is getting married.” Karina Alexander gushed.

“I know mother. Severus is going to be breathless when he sees you.” Eleanor added.

“I know. Mum, would you help me with my veil?” Hermione asked.

Elise held her daughter’s veil and moved behind Hermione. Gently she placed the tiara and veil on the pile of curls atop Hermione’s head. Severus and Hermione were having a traditional Wizarding wedding with a few muggle traditions added.

“It’s time.” Ryan said as he entered the room.

Hermione pulled the veil down over her face. She grabbed her bouquet, linked her arm with Ryan’s and headed out the door. Severus stood at the alter in the beautiful gardens waiting for his wife-to-be. Albus gave him a reassuring smile as a slow tune filled the air. He watched as Pansy, Draco, Millicent, Balise, Ginny and Remus made their way down the aisle. Once in place, the wedding march started. Severus watched as Hermione walked up with her father.

‘God she’s so beautiful. I’m so lucky to have her.’ he thought as she and Ryan moved closer to him.

Finally Hermione and Ryan were beside Severus facing Albus.

“Who gives this witch to this wizard?” Albus asked.

“Her mother and I do.” Ryan answered.

Ryan handed Hermione over to Severus and returned to his seat. Severus and Hermione smiled happily at each other before facing Albus once more.

“We are here on this joyous occasion to bring together these two souls in the union of marriage. Severus Snape and Hermione Granger have been through so much since they came together in love. These two have proven that love does conquer all and sees no age boundaries.” Albus spoke.

As Albus spoke, Hermione and Severus held hands tightly, exchanging looks of love and happiness. Both waiting patiently for their new life to begin.

“Severus, Hermione, face each other.” Albus said.

Hermione handed her bouquet to Pansy and faced Severus, placing both of her hands in his. Albus began to speak once more.

“Severus, take this ring and repeat after me. I, Severus Donavon Snape, take this woman to be my wife.” Albus instructed.

“I, Severus, Donavon Snape, take this woman to be my wife.” Severus said.

“To love, honor, cherish, and protect. In sickness and health. For richer or poorer. As long as we both shall live.” Albus said.

“To love, honor, cherish and protect. In sickness and health. For richer or poorer. As long as we both shall live.” Severus repeated as he slid the platinum wedding band onto Hermione’s left hand.

“Hermione, repeat after me. I, Hermione Jane Granger, take this man to be my husband.” Albus said.

“I, Hermione Jane Granger, take this man to be my husband.” Hermione replied tearfully.

“To love, honor, cherish and protect. In sickness and health. For richer or poorer. As long as we both shall live.” Albus stated.

“To love, honor, cherish, and protect. In sickness and health. For richer or poorer. As long as we both shall live.” Hermione said as she slid on Severus’s matching wedding band.

“Now, Hermione, place your left hand atop of Severus’s.” Albus instructed.

Hermione did as he said. With their hands now joined, Albus then removed the six silk colored ribbons. He began to tie them around their joined hands. The first color was white, then green, blue, gold, red and finally yellow. A soft light surrounded them, sealing the hand fasting.

“The gods and goddesses have now approved this union. Severus, you may kiss your bride.” Albus said happily.

Severus pushed up the veil, gathered Hermione into his arms and kissed her. Everyone there began clapping and cheering for the newly weds. Hidden in the shadows stood Harry. He smiled as his best friend and new husband came apart and faced the crowd.” I now present Mr. and Mrs. Severus Snape.” Albus announced.

The music started again as Hermione and Severus walked down the aisle. The couple made their way to the ballroom. One by one the guests walked past Severus and Hermione. The last one was Harry.

“Congratulations.” Harry said as he walked up.

“Harry!” Hermione cried as she pulled him close and hugged him.

“I’m not staying long. I wouldn’t miss this. I just wanted to wish you both a long and wonderful life.” Harry said.

“Thank you Mr. Potter. And thank you for the wedding gift. We have already restored the house and there‘s a room there for you should you need it. Just owl ahead first.” Severus said as he held his hand out to Harry.

“Thank you Professor. I may take you up on that offer sometime. I’m heading to America. I’ll send an owl once I arrive there. Good luck and enjoy your lives.” Harry replied as he shook Severus’s hand and hugged Hermione once more.

Hermione and Severus entered the ballroom. The reception was wonderful. Pansy and Draco caught the bouquet and garter. It was well after midnight when Hermione and Severus left the reception. The newly weds apparated back to Paradise Manor.

“It’s finally happened. We’re together forever.” Hermione sighed.

“Yes. Now we have the rest of our lives to enjoy. Together.” Severus said.

Hermione finished her apprenticeship the next year. Albus retired five years later, Minerva became the Headmistress, Severus became the Deputy Headmaster and Hermione was now the Transfiguration professor. Everything was peaceful and serene for the Snape family. Everyone had finally found peace at last.

The End!
