Chapter 17: Friend and Grave yards
Chapter 17: Friend and Grave yards
Isabelle stepped outside her front door. Today was the day that Hermione had died seven years ago. Isabelle remembered clearly what had happened that day. She couldn’t believe how Hermione had been killed. She lost one of her best friends and it killed her inside.
Isabelle walked around the mansion under the invisibility cloak. She didn’t know what was going on with the others. At the moment her main concern was Hermione. She walked down a dark hallway from which she had see Lucius walk out from. The look on his face clearly showed a look of contempt.
Isabelle walked down the hall looking at doors. Down the end she could see a door knob with a bloody hand print on it. She walked over to the door, blood oozed out from underneath it. Her heart pounded as she thought the worst. She put her hand on the bloody doorknob and turned it.
She leaned in to the room to see it coved with splatters of blood. She couldn’t believe it, wall to wall of blood. It made her sick, the smell was revolting. She looked around and saw Hermione lying naked on the floor, her own blood covering her. Isabelle became breathless.
“Hermione?” Isabelle whispered as she walked closer to Hermione’s bloody body. Hermione didn’t move. Isabelle could see marks all over Hermione’s body. Cuts and holes in random places just everywhere. The blood oozed out of her and on to the floor. Isabelle threw off the invisibility cloak and fell down by Hermione’s side.
Isabelle looked at Hermione and the tears she hadn’t shed began to fall. She picked up Hermione’s hand and pulled it towards her chest. “Hermione? I’m so sorry.” Isabelle sobbed. “I shouldn’t have left you.” Hermione’s blood covered her robes. “You didn’t deserve this.” Isabelle sobbed on to Hermione’s hand as she watched Hermione lay still and naked.
She walked over to her car and hopped in. she was on her way to Harry’s house to meet up with him and his family. Everything had changed so much since she was 17. She now worked in the Ministry at the department of law enforcement, along with Harry. She wanted to be a DADA teacher at Hogwarts but she didn’t want to be there any longer as her memories would always be with her so she left that behind.
Isabelle parked her car in Harry’s driveway and hopped out of her car. She walked towards his house and knocked on the door. The door opened and Isabelle saw two little children looking up at her.
“Aunt Isabelle!” The little girl squealed.
“Hello Bella” Isabelle picked her up. “Didn’t mummy and Daddy tell you not to open the door?”
“Yes they did.” The little boy giggled.
“Come here James.” Isabelle picked up the little boy in her other arm. She closed the door behind her. “Now give your aunt Isabelle her kiss.” The two little kids slapped a sloppy kiss on to each of Isabelle’s cheeks. “Good.” Isabelle put them down again and they ran off.
“Isabelle.” Harry called as he turned out from the lounge room. “Good to see you.” Harry gave his sister a hug.
“And you too Harry. But I did see you last week.” Isabelle laughed.
“Yes I know.”
“Harry I can’t believe that Hermione’s actually been gone for six years now.” Isabelle sighed.
“Yeah I know.” Harry put an arm around Isabelle and walked her in to the kitchen. Isabelle saw Amanda making a tea.
“Hello Amanda.” Isabelle walked up to Amanda and gave each other and airy kiss on the cheek.
“How’s Draco Isabelle?” Amanda asked.
“Oh he’s good. A little grumpy lately though.” Isabelle replied.
“Probably just work.” Amanda poured Isabelle a cup of tea.
“Yeah.”
“I still think he’s a good for nothing. He’s a little rat.” Harry hissed.
“Harry just let it go! I’ve been with him for 6 years alright.” Isabelle was getting sick of Harry’s attitude towards Draco. “I thought you would have been over that by now. I can’t believe you’re still going on about it.”
“I just can’t believe you’re with him after everything he’s done to us.”
“Ah Harry we were 17, you of course longer, but he didn’t do anything to me.”
“Does that really matter? He’s a slime ball like his father. You know Lucius Killed Hermione don’t you?”
“Yes I do, But Lucius is dead too.”
Isabelle ran through the halls, her robes covered in blood. She was in a rage and she was going to get Lucius back for what he had done to Hermione. Her wand in her hand as she looked around for Lucius. Out of the corner of her eye’s she saw a swift whip of an emerald green robe turn in to a room.
She ran faster trying to catch up. She opened the door and saw another hallway. She couldn’t believe how big this place was on the inside. In front of her she could see the platinum blond man who had killed her best friend walking hastily.
“MALFOY!” Isabelle called, as she held out her wand in front of her. The man stopped walking and span around quickly. His wand flung up pointing at Isabelle.
“Ah there you are pretty girl. I have been looking for you.” Lucius grinned as he slowly began to walk towards her. Isabelle’s teeth gritted against each other.
“You didn’t look to well.” Isabelle spat. “I’m going to kill you Malfoy.”
“Oh… Don’t be too sure.” Lucius laughed. “You couldn’t kill a man like me.”
“Oh but I can.” Isabelle shouted a charm and Lucius’ wand flew in to her hand. “What are you going to do about it now?” Lucius looked mortified. “You aren’t a man with out your wand are you.” Isabelle laughed back. She held out two wands in front of her, her own and his.
“Now there is no need for this is there?” Lucius tried to be civil.
“YES THERE IS!” Isabelle screamed. “You killed my best friend. Now I’ll kill you!” Isabelle advanced on a scared looking Malfoy. “Are you going to beg? Just like your son?” Lucius looked offended.
“I am not like my son. My son is weak unlike me.” Lucius defended.
“Oh yes.” Isabelle rolled her eyes. “How do you want to die Malfoy?” Isabelle asked. Lucius didn’t know what to say. “How about I make you kill yourself…” Isabelle smirked. She looked at a statue that stood beside her with a sword.
“No no its ok thank you.” Lucius began to sweat, the beads falling down the side of his face.
“I’ve changed my mind, I’ll torture you. CRUCIO!” Isabelle screamed. Lucius fell to the ground screaming and wriggling like a worm that was dieing. Isabelle was amused at seeing Lucius suffer. She guessed that he wasn’t as strong as she thought he might be. Isabelle watched him for a while as she thought about what he had done to Hermione. He deserved this and he was going to have it good.
After a long while Isabelle moved closer to him, her wand pointing at him at all times. “AVADA KEDAVRA!” Isabelle shouted finally. A flash of green light appeared and a gush of wind zoomed around Isabelle as it went to Lucius’ body.
Once everything had died down Isabelle saw Lucius’ body. He looked grey like everything inside of him was gone, he was nothing. Isabelle felt guilty for killing someone but he had it coming, he killed an innocent girl. She dropped the wands and slowly went down to her knees. The tears came back to her eyes and slid down her bloody cheek.
The door that she had come through opened and someone walked in. Isabelle feared that this was a person here to kill her but she didn’t move. Her head was down as she cried silently.
“Isabelle?” Snape’s concerned voice sounded. He walked closer and closer to Isabelle noticing her bloody robes and Lucius’ dead body. He feared that Isabelle was hurt. His hand rested on Isabelle’s shoulder. “What happened?” Isabelle looked up at him, the tears staining her face.
“Get away from me!” Isabelle snapped. “I’m going back to Hermione.” Isabelle ran out leaving her wand behind. Snape picked it up and followed her as well as he could.
“You should have left it to me to take him…” Harry spat as he was interrupted by his daughter.
“Harry you weren’t the one who found her.” Isabelle sighed.
“Aunt Isa.” Bella came up to Isabelle.
“Yes Bella.”
“I’m 1 year old and 9 months.” Bella grinned.
“Aren’t you a smart little girl.” Isabelle picked Bella up and put her on her knee. “Did you teach her that?” Isabelle asked Amanda and Harry.
“No we didn’t.” Harry shook his head. “There’s something to little Bella. She is too smart for her age.” Harry pinched his daughters cheek.
“Ah it’s in her blood.” Isabelle laughed as Bella squirmed. “Is James like that too?”
“No… but he’s overly obsessed with Quidditch.” Amanda sighed. “Always begging for a broomstick.”
“Now I wonder where that comes from.” Isabelle looked at Harry and laughed.
“James is Mr Poo poo head.” Bella giggled.
“Bella that’s not nice.” Amanda said softly.
“Sowwy mummy.” Bella put on a sad face.
“It’s ok. Just don’t say it again.” Amanda sat down at the table. The door bell rang and James went running through the kitchen to the front door.
“I’ll go and get the kids ready to go?” Isabelle stood up.
“Yes that would be good.” Harry groaned. “I don’t know why you would want to do that. They are horrible to dress.”
“Ah Harry they aren’t that bad. You just don’t know how to do it right.” Isabelle walked off holding Bella. She walked in to the lounge room looking for James. She saw James sitting on the floor playing with a mini Quidditch game.
“James.” Isabelle called as she put down Bella.
“Yesie.” James looked up at Isabelle.
“How about we get you ready to go out?” Isabelle put down Bella and pulled James off of her leg.
“Alwirte” James jumped up. James and Bella both ran up the staircase, Isabelle followed them. She walked them up to their rooms and looked through their wardrobe. She took out a little white jacket for Bella and a little black jacket for James.
“Come here.” Isabelle helped James in to his jacket and then helped Bella in to hers. Isabelle went back to the wardrobe and looked for a pair of shoes for them both. “Sit on the bed.” The twis eagerly jumped on to their beds and put out their feet. She slipped on James’ shoes first and then Bella’s. “Ok you two look very nice. Lets go downstairs now.”
“Fank you aunt Isa.” Bella smiled.
“Oh no problem Bella.” Isabelle took each of their hands and walked them downstairs. Amanda stood by the front door with Harry.
“Thank you for that Isabelle.” Amanda looked down at Bella and James.
“Absolutely no problem.” Isabelle looked down at the twins.
*****
Isabelle stepped out of the car and helped each twin out. She looked around at the cemetery. She could remember the look on Hermione’s parents when they had found out what happened. They were devastated just the thought nearly made Isabelle cry. Each year she would recite everything that happened on this day 6 years ago.
“Come on.” Amanda picked up James. Isabelle snapped out of her thoughts and Harry picked up Bella. Isabelle walked alone through the rows of head stones, watching her brother and sister in law walk in front of her.
“Isabelle.” She heard someone call softly. She turned around and saw Ron walking towards her. He looked just the same as she had seen him the day before at work. He had the knack for dressing really nice lately, something that he never used to really do when he was younger.
“Hello Ronald.” Isabelle smile. They both began to walk side by side. “How are you today?”
“Good considering.” Ron looked a little sad.
“Yeah. Does all this remind you of what happened?” Isabelle asked.
“I only remember a little I didn’t see much.” Ron frowned.
“You’re lucky. I keep seeing Hermione’s body over and over again.”
“I can understand that’s bad.” Ron looked over to Isabelle. He had liked her for many years but she had never liked him back. Once she was with Snape and now with Malfoy. He didn’t understand her taste for men. It was slightly disturbing.
Harry stopped walking and looked at a head stone. Isabelle looked at the head stone too. There was a picture of Hermione and a little sentence saying ‘The brightest person ever and always helpful.’ Isabelle remembered that Harry has said that on the day of her funeral.
Isabelle looked around as she sat down in a seat in front of an open grave. She saw Hermione’s parents crying to each other as they walked towards her. Her insides couldn’t bare this. Finding her was bad enough but watching other people suffer hurt her too. She tried not to make a blubbering mess of herself as the Grangers sat next to her.
“Thank you.” A female voice whispered. Isabelle looked to her right.
“Sorry?” Isabelle looked at Hermione’s mother.
“Thank you for helping Hermione.”
“You don’t have to thank me.” Isabelle smiled. Mrs. Granger cried again.
“I don’t know how you could have bared to see Hermione like that. It would have killed me to see her the way you did.”
“Yes.” Isabelle felt tears well up but she didn’t want them to fall.
“You helped my daughter, you held her and cared for her when she was dead. You had done more then what we could and we thank you greatly.” Mr. Granger put a hand on to Isabelle’s hand. Mrs. Granger sobbed greatly. A tear fell from Isabelle’s eye.
“She was my best friend. I did what I knew I had to do.” Isabelle wiped away the tear.
Isabelle remembered the look on their faces, the tears and the sad heart ach. She shook away her thoughts and looked at Hermione’s grave stone again. Amanda took the bouquet of flowers that she had brought and placed it on top of Hermione’s grave.

Severus Snape stood in the distance watching as 4 adults and 2 children gathered around the gravestone of his former student. He kept his eye on one particular person remembering seeing her on the day that all this had happened.
Snape walked after Isabelle as she rushed off. Her wand was in his hand so he could give it back to her. Isabelle pushed open a door and went in. he followed her in to the room. He looked down at her and could see her holding Hermione’s naked upper body in her arms. Isabelle looked up at him. Snape bent down to check Hermione’s vital signs.
“Go Away!” Isabelle snapped.
“I want to check her.” Snape mumbled.
“SHES DEAD!” Isabelle shouted, Snape moved back, slightly startled. “He killed her.” Isabelle sobbed. “She did nothing to him!”
“I am sorry he whispered.” He felt sorry for what Isabelle was going through. He didn’t know what to do to make her better. He had stuffed up their relationship by turning her away and now she was doing that to him. Snape sat down besides Isabelle and watched her as she cried covered in blood.
“We all will be.” Isabelle put her head down to Hermione’s and continued sobbing.
He watched as Isabelle took a child in to her arms and walked off with Ron. Severus had kept tabs on Isabelle making sure he knew what she was doing. Inside he knew that letting her go was the worst decision he had ever made. She had moved on to another long term relationship with the son of the man that had killed her best friend.
Severus turned around and walked off himself. Regretting every thing he had done to Isabelle 7 years ago. Yes she was young but it shouldn’t have mattered. She was so close to finishing the school year and no one had found out. He shouldn’t have let the thought of her being a Potter get in the way of everything. He cursed at himself and disappeared.
