Chapter Seventeen

Two In Love - From Here To Eternity

"Two in love can face the world together,
Hearts that cuddle up will muddle through,
The world may rock and rumble,
Crowds may groan and grumble,
Thrones may even tumble too,
Darling, two in love can face the stormy weather,
Laugh aloud at every cloud above,
And so we'll show them all what love can do,
For you and I are two in love."
Frank Sinatra

Once the staff and students of Hogwarts got used to the idea that the stiff and severe potions professor, Severus Snape, was going to actually marry the one-time prisoner of Azkaban, devil-may-care wizard about town Sirius Black, things began to settle down, and the news that Harry Potter and Ron Weasley were an item caused nary a ripple in the fabric of their lives. And if they thought that Snape would be so preoccupied with wedding preparations that he would become less strict in his classes, they were surely living in a fool's paradise - if anything, he was more aware than ever of what was happening with his students, and his usual watchful eye was as hawklike as usual, his sharp tongue as acerbic. The only evidence of his growing excitement in the impending nuptials was reserved for private moments together in the apartment they shared, after lessons were planned and homework graded - then they talked for hours of what they wanted - and two weeks passed before they knew it, and the time was upon them.

Sirius and Severus had decided to keep the wedding a private affair, limited to close friends and relatives - which of course included Molly and Arthur Weasley. Molly had been so ecstatic when she heard the news about her cousin and Snape that she had promptly invited them to dinner at the Burrow, and Sirius had felt obligated to attend, dragging a grumbling potions professor along with him. Harry and Ron were there, of course, as was Ginny and her new boyfriend, Neville Longbottom. Everything was going smoothly - Molly outdid herself with her delicious dinner, and everyone was feeling rather at ease afterwards, chatting with Arthur about happenings in the world of muggles, when a sudden appearance by the naughty redheaded twins threatened to set ablaze a conflagration. Sirius lost his temper at the sight of them, threatened to horsewhip them soundly, while Severus quietly drew his wand, preparing to utter a quick "Crucio" at them, when Molly took the situation in hand, calmed the two men down, and forced her errant sons to apologize profusely for the harm they had attempted to inflict. They managed to look quite penitent and were finally forgiven, thanks in large part to Molly's influence, but the two scallywags merely waited until Snape's back was turned to blow sweet kisses at Sirius, who scowled at them - then they looked at one another in complete agreement, sighed, "Shaggable!" and quickly apparated away before anything else could befall them.

Professor Lupin often joined them of an evening, and of course Harry and Ron were frequent visitors as well. Harry was surprised at how comfortable he felt around Snape, who was so different from the strict taskmaster that had once bedeviled him just to get his godfather's attention - now that he had it, he wasn't quite so irritable anymore. Which is not to say that he expected less from Harry during classtime, but that he didn't let it carry into his private life, and Harry began to appreciate just what it was that Sirius saw in him.

The wedding was to take place at night, beside the Hogwarts lake. Hermione Malfoy, under the guidance of Albus Dumbledore, helped to prepare the site for the ceremony, including the beautiful Queen of the Night tulips that were Severus' favourite flower, and the large fountain in the shape of a dragon which exhaled tiny streams of flame. She and Draco had been given their own rooms at the school - an unusual move considering they were still students, but under the circumstances the best thing to do, since Draco could not expect Hermione to sleep under the Slytherin roof, and Hermione would find no privacy with her new husband in the Gryffindor tower. They had adjusted well to married life, and carried their newfound maturity well.

A candlelight procession made its way to the lake just at sunset, where Hermione had set a nr ofr of blazing torches, as well as floating banners proclaiming the colours of the two houses that were being joined.. As befit a wizard's wedding, dress robes were the order of the day. The wedding guests formed a circle, at the center of which was Albus Dumbledore. Sirius and Severus stood outside of the circle, waiting on opposite sides - Sirius was attended by Harry and Ron, and Severus by Draco. At a signal from Dumbledore, the two men were each escorted into the circle to stand together before Albus, their attendants slightly behind them. Percy Grainger's lovely "Bridal Lullaby" could be heard in the background.

"When two wizards unite," Dumbledore began, his sonorous voice seeming to echo in the growing darkness, "it is a grand thing, a wonderful thing, a thing devoutly to be wished - to be celebrated and rejoiced in throughout the wizarding world. But in this case, when it concerns two such men as Sirius Black and Severus Snape, it is nothing less than miraculous (here his audience tittered knowingly, and Sirius and Severus had to smile themselves). Miraculous not only in the sense that they have found one another, but that they haven't killed one another in the process (more snickering).

"But seriously, our world has long been torn asunder through events with which we are all too familiar. High prices have been exacted on both sides, lives lost forever, lives temporarily misplaced - I won't dwell on the particulars. But now that Voldemort has been finally defeated, it is time to live again, to rebuild our lives and begin new chapters in the wizard history books, never forgetting those who gave their lives for our noble cause. (Sirius reached behind him for Harry's hand and gave him a comforting squeeze, as did Ron). And always remembering that what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.

"We have come together tonight to celebrate the union of Sirius Black and Severus Snape - the Gryffindor and the Slytherin - starting their new lives together as we too begin our new lives in peace. What began when they were both young students here at Hogwarts so many years ago has finally come to fruition, although I must admit few people ever foresaw that it would end in this way, including Professor Trelawney, I dare say. (The students all tittered, and the teachers suppressed smiles).

"Who speaks for Sirius Black?" Dumbledore intoned.

"We do," Harry and Ron chanted in unison, moving forward together.

"And what would you like to say, Harry, on behalf of Sirius?" Dumbledore asked.

Harry pushed his glasses back up his nose, took a deep breath and began. "I have come to speak for Sirius Black. He is the bravest and best wizard that I have ever known. He has a very kind heart and he means well, even though he is sometimes his own worst enemy. He has been like a father to me, and has always looked out for my best interests."

Dumbledore smiled at Harry. Harry looked back at Sirius, and the nod of his head gave his godfather to know that he meant every word of his testament, which gladdened Sirius' heart. "Do you then give this man to be married?" asked Dumbledore.

"I do," Harry replied.

Dumbledore then asked, "Who speaks for Severus Snape?"

"I do," Draco said, stepping forward.

"What have you to say for Severus?"

Draco looked confidently at his mentor, his pseudo-father, his friend. "I would like to say that few people actually know Severus Snape as I do, and that although most people see him as a rather cranky, mean-spirited teacher, he is actually a very nice person - he just does a good job of hiding it. (Here a few titters broke out, and Snape had to resist the urge to turn and glare at them). He likes things to be done correctly, and has little patience with those who don't listen. But he has a good heart and he is a good man."

"Do you give this man to be married?"

"I do."

"Do you have the rings?"

Harry and Draco brought out the precious items which they had been charged with carrying, and gave each to the proper groom.

"Severus, place your ring on Sirius' finger (a nervous Snape almost took the wrong hand, quickly correcting his mistake, and sliding the gold band onto the proper finger). You may now speak."

Severus cleared his throat. "If anyone had told me even a few months ago that I would be standing here today, marrying this man, I would have had them committed to an asylum immediately. But life works in mysterious ways, and here I am, and here he is, and now I can't imagine it any other way. A muggle writer once said, ‘For one human being to love another: that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but preparation*.' I seemed to have prepared all my life for this moment, and I accept it gladly, I embrace it warmly, and I promise to work for the rest of my life to make sure that our love is here to stay. I promise to be supportive, to be understanding, to listen and to hear, and to care for Sirius Black for the rest of my life - to make him happy in every way I can - and to help to make our lives together happy and fulfilling."

"Sirius, your turn," Dumbledore urged.

Sirius took Severus' left hand, slid the gold band into position, and gazed at him tenderly. "As a wild teenager, I was the embodiment of bad behaviour, and I bedeviled poor Severus most unmercifully. It's a great wonder that he ever had anything to do with me again, considering. But youth passes, and with time comes wisdom (at least, that's the theory), and he and I are not the same people we were then. Along the way, I hope that I have accumulated at least a modicum of maturity and perhaps a little sagacity - but I have definitely discovered my heart, and it resides right here with Severus Snape. I promise to stand by him, to respect him, to love and care for him, to work with him on maintaining our relationship, and to always be there for him, as I know he will be for me, through good times and bad, forever and ever."

"I now pronounce you wizard and wizard, husband and husband, you may now kiss..."

But they were way ahead of him, their lips meshing perfectly (with just the proper amount of ‘church tongue'), as the witnesses all cheered, and Harry and Ron took advantage of the situation to sneak in a kiss as well.

Lupin turned to Hagrid, who was unabashedly wiping tears away with his huge fist. "They make a splendid couple, don't you think?"

"Aye, indeed they do, P'fe Lup Lupin, ‘deed they do."

A reception was held at Hogwarts, and all the students and faculty were invited to attend. The great hall was decorated with all the school banners, and a great feast was served. Afterwards, dancing was permitted, and even Albus and Minerva took to the floor with great relish.

Sirius and Severus were inseparable - where you found one, you found the other - fingers tightly entwined as if they were afraid of being torn apart. At one point, Severus caught Lupin's eye, beckoning to the werewolf, who sighed resignedly, knowing full well what the other man was g tog to say.

"Now Remus," Snape began, "are you sure you understand what material I want to be covered while I am gone - which potions are to be brewed, what ingredients are needed?"

"Severus, you've only told me a hundred times since I offered to take your classes. I think I know what I need to do."

"You only think, you don't know? Well, let's go over tessoesson plans again..."

But Sirius interceded, putting his fingp top to Severus' lips softly. "Sevi, you've told him and told him and told him and told him... He has a better memory than you give him credit for, love. You have nothing to worry about. We can go on our honeymoon and relax - your classes will be in good hands."

Severus started to protest, but looking into Sirius' dark eyes he lost the thread of what he was going to say, especially when his husband pulled his head to him and sealed off his words with a kiss. They kissed and then they hugged, while Sirius took the opportunity to glance at Lupin over Snape's shoulder and mouth, "It's okay, don't worry about it," and Lupin whispered, "Thank you," and quickly disappeared into the crowd milling about the buffet table.

During the height of the festivities, about the time that Hagrid draped a table cloth over his huge body and climbed up onto a table sporting a lamp shade, aumblumbledore and Minerva were showing some of the students how to Charleston, Sirius and Severus slipped away teir eir rooms to get ready to leave for their honeymoon. Sirius managed to signal their intentions to Harry, and he and Ron met them there.

Severus sat in an armchair, while Sirius stuffed his belongings into a suitcase. Severus' own case was neatly packed and ready to go, and Harry could hear him muttering, "If you had listened to me before, you'd be done with this, and we could be on our way," but his tone belied his words, and Harry and Ron looked at each other and grinned. Sirius finished his task, clicked the case shut. "Voila!" he announced. "All packed!"

He turned his attention to the boys, and they could see that his eyes were shining, even though he had imbibed very little at the reception (his own idea), and his smile was radiant. "I wanted to thank you boys for your help in making all of this happen," he began, "We couldn't have done it without you. Or Hermione. She's a very mature young lady, I must say, a good match for young Mr. Malfoy."

"Indeed," Severus agreed, "I think she is very good for him."

"Just like you and Sirius," Ron interjected, while Harry rolled his eyes at his audacity, bue twe two men only laughed.

"Take care of things here while we're gone, eh Harry?"

"Of course, Sirius, I will."

"And keep Ron in line, if you can..."

Harry sighed loudly. "That's a pretty tall order," he began, "trying to deal with this wanker..." which brought a loud "Hey!" from Ron and a punch on the shoulder.

"Well, we have to be going. You might as well go back to the reception and have a good time, you two, don't you think?"

"Oh, we're going to have a good time," Ron laughed, "but I don't think we're heading back there, not right away, anyway."

Sirius smiled knowingly, exchanging glances with Severus, who refused to comment. "Feel free to use our rooms, boys, while we're gone, if you need a spot of privacy now and then. But be discreet, okay?"

"And tidy," Severus muttered under his breath.

"Sure, Sirius, we will." Sirius swept the two boys up into his grasp, hugging them firmly. Ron pulled away first, leaving a private moment for Harry and his godfather. "You know, Harry, I never imagined that I could ever be so happy," he said softly, "not after losing James and Lily, and almost losing you, then all those years...." He grew quiet for a moment. "But everything has worked out better than I ever dreamed, and for once the future looks pretty bright. Just remember that I love you, Harry, don't ever forget that."

"I won't," Harry replied, "and I love you very much too, Sirius." The two men embraced once more, before Sirius beckoned to Severus, and the reluctant professor joined the group hug.

"Are you ready?" Severus asked calmly, and Sirius nodded his assent. Snape brought out the portkey, and they placed their hands upon it and immediately apparated off with a loud pop of displacement.

Ron looked at Harry, and Harry looked at Ron, and the smiles that they wore were twin images of one another as they fell together on the large bed...

When Severus and Sirius reapparated, they found themselves standing outside a small secluded hide-away located beside a private beach, hidden away from everythind end everyone - courtesy of Albus Dumbledore, who had made all the arrangements and disclosed their location to no one. He had given them an entire week off from their duties at Hogwarts (although Snape was torn between his strict sense of duty and his desire to be alone with his handsome new husband for seven w day days undisturbed - and poor duty lost out!)

The interior of the hideaway was fairly simple - it contained a large bed, various smaller pieces of furniture, a dining table for two, a wea well sed red refrigerator. While Snape put his possessions tidily away, Sirius hummed softly as he stuffed his things into the available drawer space. He hadn't actually packed a lot of clothing, considering it ultimately superfluous under the circumstances. Coming across an item of interest, he grinned bemusedly, turning to his partner.

"Sevi, look what I found!" His tone was mischievous, and Snape found himself on his guard immediately.

"What did you find, Siri?" he asked.

Without comment, Sirius handed him what he had found. "Oh dear Merlin!" Snape muttered, thumbing through the photographs - they were the ones that Sirius had taken the day of their wizard battle, when he had hogtied Snape to a bed and dressed him in sexy lingerie and then photographed the results. "I had no idea you still had these!"

"Silly boy, of course I do!" Sirius reclaimed the snapshots, looking through them fondly. "You look damn sexy, love, did you think I would get rid of ‘em? Be serious!" Before Snape could make any further protest, he pushed him gently down upon the bed, kissing him along the firm line of his jaw, licking the soft area below the chin, and then running his lips along Severus' neck, alternating his kisses with nibbles and nips which only served to inflame the potions master's passion.

"Gods, man, I don't know what it is you do to me," he breathed heavily, "but never stop doing it!"

"I won't, sweetheart, I won't," Sirius promised, running his tongue along Snape's outer ear, nibbling at the lobe, then thrusting his tongue into the ear, which evoked groans from Severus. "You know what I would like?" Sirius murmured between licks.

"Anything, anything," Snape moaned, "whatever you want, just name it..."

"I want to make love with you on the beach, tonight, right now. I want to walk hand and hand with you across the sand, buck naked, feel the breeze blowing across our testicles - just us and nature - what do you say?"

"On the sand?" Severus' voice registered doubt. "That sounds...well, rather painful, to tell the truth.... grains of sand getting pushed up into one's bum... I'm not sure about that...." But Sirius silenced him with a heartstopping kiss which simply took his breath away. His reply to Severus was, "then I shall remove all those naughty grains of sand with my tongue, love", to which Snape had no reply. But then again he had his tongue shoved halfway down Sirius' throat and was beyond caring about tiny grains of mica possibly being retained in his nether regions.

"Sirius Black, is this how you plan to get your way for the rest of our lives?" Severus gasped when Sirius allowed him to come up for air. Sirius merely smiled in his particularly roguish way, saying nothing.

It wasn't long afterwards that the two men found themselves completely au naturel outside on the beach that ran beside their little hideaway, gazing out at the moonlit waters gently lapping against the sand. Sirius took Severus' hand, attempted to lead him into the water.

"It looks cold," Snape demurred doubtfully, resisting Sirius' advances. "It looks very cold... and wet..."

Sirius laughed. "You big sissy! Come on!" But the best he could do was to coax his husband to the water's edge, where he let the waves lap about his bare feet.

"Maybe tomorrow," he said, "when the sun is out and it's a bit warmer..."

Sirius wound his arms around Snape, pressing their lips together, even as his hands began to roam across Snape's backside and down toward his posterior. Both men became very hard very quickly, and Sirius seized the opportunity to grind their erections together passionately. Snape found himself falling to his knees in the sand, Sirius pressed intensely against him. He pushed him back into the sand until the other wizard was flat on his back, knees bent, as Sirius began to straddle him....

In an unexpected turn of events, Snape scissored his lean legs about Sirius' torso, flipping him easily, their positions now reversed. Sirius was surprised, but not displeased, at his lover's dominant behaviour. "How masculine you are, Severus...he purred.

"It's my turn to be on top," Snape replied, as he bent his head over Sirius' firm chest, takthe the taut nubs into his mouth and pulling on them with just the barest trace of teeth. Sirius closed his eyes, arching his back in ecstacy. He didn't even mind the feel of the beach against his ass, for it was surprisingly warm yet, and just damp enough to be pleasant.

Severus' hands began to wander south, tracing a trail over the taut stomach, the firm muscles, until he reached Sirius' pleasurestick, ohsofirm and ohsoinviting. He caressed it joyously, gladly, relishing the effect he was having on his partner as he squirmed beneath him. "Ohhhh, yesssssss, yessssssss, gods man, more, more mooooooooorrrrreeeeeeeee!" And Severus obliged him, being careful not to draw him irretrievably close to the brink lest he fall over the cliff, but close enough to tease him with the idea of release.

He fisted the other man's cock, massaging, manipulating, stroking and loving, until Sirius could hold out no longer and came with a great gush of fluid over Severus' welcoming fingers. Snape pressed his fingers to his lips, tasted the salty sailors of his lover, licking them lightly. But he had other plans for this precious stuff.

Using it as lubricant, he inserted two fingers into Sirius' waiting opening, stretching the ring of muscles to accept his digits. Pushing his way inside, he found the prostrate and touched it, eliciting a gasp of delight from Sirius. He brought his fingers out and then slid them in again, before adding a third, pushing Sirius open more and more. He could feel the muscles relax as he entered his ass, and he stroked the tender perineum as he worked, to Sirius' great joy. Severus coated his own rockhard cock with Sirius' seminal fluid and, satisfied with the results, thrust himself into his lover's waiting opening.

"Aaaaaaaah!" Sirius breathed, "oh Merlin! Sev Severus drew back to the point where the tip of his shaft was barely in before driving back again. Again Sirius screamed in orgiastic delight. Harder and harder Snape pushed, driving himself into his lover's opening, his testicles slapping noisily against the other's ass. "Harder, harder!" Sirius encouraged him. He had a tremendous hardon of his own, and Severus grasped his ten inches of pleasure firmly, clutching Sirius' hand within his own so that they simultaneously stroked Mr. Black's love muscle. iriuirius felt himself becoming lost in the driving force of Snape's rhythm, his entire world now consisting of the motions of that cock in his own lusting ass, and he had never been so turned on in his entire life. He paid little heed to the waves that lapped about his feet and legs, knowing it was just the tide coming in, enjoyed the feel of them against his back. He felt at one with Snape, in complete and utter harmony of body and spirit. Snape's thrusts were unerring in their ability to hit his prostrate, and he knew it wouldn't be long for him now, nor for Snape either if he read the signs right. Sure enoughape'ape's cock began to spasm inside him, sending out waves of cum that filled him even as his own orgasm struck, and he spilled his seed upon their combined hands.

Severus reached up for Sirius, wrapped his hand about his long black locks and pressed his head against his, claiming his lips fiercely, assertively, territorially, biting the lower lip passionately. "Sirius Black, I love you so much!" he whispered hoarsely, "and don't you ever forget that!"

They collapsed together onto the sand, sated, content, breathing heavily, as the waves continued their inexorable advance upon the shore, dashing upon them indiscriminately. Severus took Sirius in his arms and held him closely, nuzzling his neck, inhaling the odor that was Sirius and reveling in it.

"Severus, that was totally fucking incredible!"

Severus looked rather pleased with himself. "So you liked it, eh?"

"Liked it? I loved it! Almost as much as I love you!" and he pressed close against his lover, locking lips and running his tongue delicately across the other man's in a gentle dance. "Promise me that we can do that again!"

"Of course, love, any time."

They lay together quietly for a few moments, listening to one another's heartbeats, content to hold and be held, until finally they both decided that the sand wasn't necessarily the most comfortable place to be, and rising from the beach, performed cleansing spells upon one another.

"Let's take a walk before we go to bed!" Sirius suggested, "down the beach a little ways. Not for long, just a few minutes. Is that okay with you, Severus?"

Snape nodded indulgently. "But then straight to bed, young man."

"Of course, Professor Snape." They joined hands, fingers entwined, walking slowly, in no hurry, just happy to be together.

"You know, Severus," Sirius said thoughtfully, "there are a few things that we haven't discussed yet about our life together...."

"Such as?"

"Well, I was just wondering how soon you would change your name to Severus Black?"

"Severus Black? What the hell are you talking about? Why should I do that, when it's you that will become Sirius Snape."

"Bollocks to that. The Black family will die out if I don't produce an heir, and it's only natural that you should take my name..."

"Nothing is less natural than my taking your name! And what do you mean, if you produce an heir... Are you talking about having children? Children?!! You know I despise children, why would I want one of my own?"

"Well, after all, once we move into Grimmauld Place, and Harry and Ron move in with us, I thought it would be nice...."

"Grimmaud Place! Are you daft, man? That dismal excuse for a house, with that nervewracking hideous crone forever caterwauling about something or other?"

"Well..."

"And what do you mean Harry and Ron moving in with us... We never discussed that at all..."

"I know, Severus, but it's only natural, and I think it would be especially good for Padfoot..."

"Padfoot! What the fucking hell has he to do with anything, you can't expect me to bring a big dog into things, now can you..."

Severus spluttered on and on, and Sirius disregarded most everything that he said, knowing that they would work things out later. And that he would undoubtedly get his way about the important things - Harry and Ron living with them, and having a baby with Severus. Grimmauld Place didn't matter - in fact, the less he saw of it the better. They could always find a place of their own for when school wasn't in session. He was sure of that. As long as they were together, that's what mattered.

Sirius sighed happily, listening to Snape's bellicose mutterings. He squeezed his hand, and felt an answering squeeze inurn.urn. "You know, Severus," he said, "I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship." And they continued on down the beach, happy at last...

Well, Sirius and Severus are happily married at last, and on their way to a great life together. I have you have enjoyed this story. I think there could be a sequel, if I feel there is enough interest. The story is even now starting to form in my mind, but I have two others which demand to be born first. Watch out for The Return of Sirius Black, which should be coming soon (pun intended)!

Once again, many thanks to idioticsavant and gemmarose, for all your support. This has been a lot of fun!
