I do not refer to Hermione as Ermine. That is one particular glitch I had. AFF has changed other words but that remains the most irritating. This, unfortunately, cannot be corrected at the moment. I am seriously debating taking the story down and reposting. If I did this it would be a while before I could update. I’m debating!

I’ve had a few writers to say that if the whole story is not deleted it will not post in the correct order. In other words if I edit chapter 1 and not 3. Chapter 3 would be re-titled Chapter 1 and 3 would pop up at the end of the story.

If anyone has some good advice on this I would love to listen.

************Chapter 15 - Severus - Leglimens********

When Severus had probed Hermione’s mind he had discovered something very disturbing. A new barrier had been erected.

The time line of events was almost seamless, if Snape had not been so thorough he would have passed right by it. Severus knew that he could unlock the missing time. He was rather good at solving puzzles.

Once he discovered the wall that had been erected, he started searching for ways around, over, or through it. It had taken several hours, several enjoyable hours.

His mind had been searching hers for an opening that he could pry apart and sneak into. His hands and mouth were keeping her relaxed and him entertained. Finally, he found the exact moment Zaraus’ spell had started. He located the precise break in Hermione’s memories.

Hermione was lying on the ground and Zaraus was standing over her offering her a hand. Zaraus had been grinning manically and his eyes were more predatory than she remembered.

Hermione was standing in front of Zaraus and she was admiring his friendly smile.


Hermione had not taken her eyes off of Zaraus and there was no transition from Hermione lying on the ground to standing upright and conversing with him. It was so obvious! Severus berated himself for not seeing the obvious flaw the first time he viewed her memory.

Snape drew out the hidden memories and relived them with Hermione.

Zaraus’s wand suddenly appeared in his hand. He cast a Silenco spell on Hermione, and then he pulled her upright. She was temporarily stunned. This was exactly the reaction that Zaraus had expected. He started to question her. When he didn’t immediately get the answers he wanted Zaraus threatened her.

Unfortunately for him, Hermione didn’t like to be threatened. She started to fight back. <> She summoned his wand, but dropped it immediately upon touching it. The wand had shocked her. She was not allowed to harm a Snape with any form of magic. Even if that Snape was a slimy, lying, bastardly worm, that would soon pay for his trespasses.
Zaraus pulled an unregistered wand out of his other sleeve and quickly put Hermione under the Imperius curse. Zaraus then spent the next hour trying to break through the ward that Dumbledore had erected in Hermione’s mind.

Hermione was fighting the Imperius curse with everything she had. She had been successful a total of 3 times throwing off the curse. Zaraus calmly reapplied the curse and devoted himself to the task at hand.

Zaraus changed tactics and forced Hermione to drink Verisertaum. <>

As soon as the potion took effect, Zaraus started questioning her. She answered all of his questions truthfully. She had no choice. It was obvious that she was not giving the answers that Zaraus wanted, he was becoming more and more frustrated.



“Hermione have you ever used a time turner?“
“Yes”
“When?”
“In my third year at Hogwarts and in the summer of my fifth year.”
“Why were you given a time turner in your third year?”
“To take additional classes.”
“What was the purpose of using a time turner the summer of your fifth year?”
“I don’t know.“
“Did you have an accident in your third year while using the time turner?“
“No.“
“Did you have an accident in your fifth year while using the time turner?“
“Yes.”
“When did your accident occur with the time turner?”
“Which one?”
“You’ve had more than one?”
“Yes.”
“How many accidents with a time turner have you had?”
“Two.”
“When was the first?”
“The summer of my fifth year.”
“When was the last?”
“The summer of my fifth year.”
“Hermione how far back did you go when you disappeared into the past?”
“I don’t know.”
“Who did you see?”
“I don’t know.”
“Were you at Hogwarts?”
“I don’t know.”
“What was your purpose?”
“It was an accident.”
“Do you know Tom Riddle?”
“Yes.”

“Finally we are getting somewhere! How? How do you know Tom Riddle?”

“He possessed Ginny Weasley in second year and made her do terrible things.” Zaraus slapped Hermione across the face for her answer. <> Her lip had been split. Blood trickled down her chin.

“Do you remember anything from either of your accidents with the time turner?”
“No.”

Zaraus had started to ask her something else, however he grasped the fact that she had said “No.” and not “I don’t know.”
“You are aware that you spent a year in the past.”
“No.”
Zaraus raised his hand to strike her again when something stopped him.
“You do know that you had an accident with a time turner?”
“Yes.”
Zaraus stopped to organize her responses. He was missing something important.
“Did you go into the past?”
“No.”
“Did you leave Hogwarts?”
“I don’t know.”
“Did you go to the future?”
“I don’t know.”
“Who told you about your accident?”
“Headmaster Dumbledore.”
“Tell me exactly what Dumbledore told you?”

“He told me I had an accident with the time turner which is the reason I was out of school for 6 days. He told me not to worry that I’m not behind in my studies. He said I did not go into the past. I wasn’t to tell anyone of the time turner accident. If my true memories were revealed before their time then all could be lost. Everything will be clear at an appropriate time. He told me not to worry about or think about the missing time. I am completely protected. Only Albus Dumbledore can lift the spell hiding my memories or the safety words if something happens to Dumbledore.”
“Do you know what the safety words are?”
“No.”
“Do you have any clues as to what the words could be?”
“No.”
“Do you have any more information that Dumbledore gave you?”
“Yes.” Zaraus’s eyes were glittering. Had he finally caught a break?
“Tell me what else Dumbledore said to you?”
Hermione hesitated and stopped struggling with herself then she answered with a wide grin, “He said that Severus Snape is my friend and likes lemon candies. He is also nosy, and …“
“Yes… Hermione what else?.”
“He likes to sniff monkey butts!”

Zaraus snorted in laughter. The old headmaster really didn’t like Severus. Good! That helped to prove his loyalty to the Dark Lord. The old man must have set up this message because he knew Severus would question Hermione. It was also bad because if the headmaster didn’t trust him then he would not know of the inner workings of the order.

While Zaraus was questioning her his mind had invaded hers and was still probing the wall in hopes of finding a crack. The whole time this occurred his hands were roaming along the young girls body.

As Zaraus laughed, he had broken his concentration just enough for Hermione to call to Severus. Zaraus heard her thoughts (as he was still probing the barrier), and had been paranoid enough to repair the damage that he had done to her person and cast a quick oblivate.

Severus had dawdled in answering the summons. He wasn’t even sure if it had been a summons or she was just thinking very hard about him. He had waited to see if another call would come. When it did not reoccur he resumed what he was doing. He found after half an hour or so that she tumbled into his thinking again, he went in search of Hermione.

Shortly after arriving in the main part of the manor Sarah’s screams had led him in the correct direction. He was linked with Sarah differently than with Hermione. He had the parental link with Sarah. He could tell where she was and what condition she was in, whether she was injured, happy, scared, hungry, or angry. Sarah could not read his mind or moods, but she could reach out and let him know she needed him. The parental link would gradually lessened as the she matured. The link had already weakened with Shaman.

Severus searched through the mental link to touch Sarah, she had been furious. He remembered now. He had sped up at Sarah’s urgency. He had forgotten all about Sarah’s ferocity when he first found Zaraus in the garden. Now, he knew why she had been so furious.

Sarah has forged a link with Hermione. What type and to what extent Severus couldn’t say. What he did know was that Sarah had known when Zaraus had touched Hermione’s breast. Her din-din. She had pitched a fit. Severus smirked. She obviously didn’t have a problem sharing Hermione with her father as there had been no temper tantrums after she had been fed and put to bed.

In Chapter 4-- I did refer to Severus’s wife as Danielle. I don’t remember doing it, but I must have. So Severus dead wife’s name is Danielle Elizabeth Snape. (I’ve always liked the name Danielle, maybe it was subconscious. I would edit it but I still can’t. Now I‘m starting to whine! Yuck!)
