Chapter Title: Soldier Love

Harry jolted when he felt Severus’ lips against his but instantly reacted in two way. He could feel himself harden again Severus’ hip and he pressed his lips back. He gently ran his tongue over Severus’ bottom lip, who moaned, and Harry took advantage to press his tongue into Severus’ mouth. Harry could feel Severus’ hardness jump in response to Harry’s searching tongue. He smirked against Severus’ lips and chased Severus’ tongue, which instantly began to tangle around his own.

Harry broke the kiss apart to breathe and Severus panted against his chest, so overwhelmed by desire that he couldn’t even hold his head up properly. Harry managed to gather his thoughts and breath back.

“I want to take a trip.” Severus looked up at him with a frown. “There’s something of mine that I want to go get.” Severus made a sound of understanding in his throat before laying his forehead back against Harry’s chest. Harry laid his chin down on Severus’ head and thought for a few moments, wanting to savor having Severus in his arms.

“Alright.” Severus finally managed to respond and Harry sighed but drew back anyway.

“I’ll be back shortly.” Severus nodded before lightly kissing Harry again.

Harry appaperated into an alleyway next to the muggle bank. He checked his pocket to make sure that his wallet was there before walking out into the daylight. He turned and walked into the bank. He walked up to an open cashier and pulled out his I.D. and his key.

“I’d like to withdraw something from my deposit box, if you don’t mind.” The woman nodded before doubling checking his I.D.

“Right this way, Mr. Potter.” Harry followed her into the back and was finally left alone with the box. He sighed before opening it. He pulled out all four items and walked back out, signaling the woman back over to him.

“I emptied it out and would like to close the account, if you don’t mind.” She nodded and set him through the process. He gave her the excuse that he was moving before leaving the building again. He walked back into the alleyway and Appaperated to the Malfoy Manor. He walked in the doors and Lucius looked up from his book.

“Harry!” Lucius stood up and embraced the young man as Remus walked out. Remus also gave Harry a hug.

“Pup, what are you doing here?” Harry smiled before pulling out a picture frame. He handed it to Remus who looked at it before he gasped, a single tear falling down his face. He hugged Harry again and Lucius looked at it, recognizing it as Harry’s high school Diploma and understanding the significance of it. They talked for a little while before Harry left to return to Hogwarts.

“Draco?” Said Slytherin looked up as Harry entered his room.

“S’up, Harry?” Harry smiled before holding out a ring to him. Draco frowned but took it.

“It’s my high school ring.” Draco looked up at him, shock dancing in his eyes. “I want you to have it, Draco.” Draco stood up and hugged the dark-haired boy, before they talked for a little while. Harry then left again.

Severus stirred the rod in his cauldron when two arms suddenly snaked around his waist. Severus jumped but relaxed when he recognized Harry’s scent.

“You were gone longer than I thought.”

“Yeah, I stopped by Malfoy Manor for a bit. Lucius is doing fine, by the way. He’s getting big, though.”

“And Lupin?”

“He’s okay too.” Severus smiled as Harry turned him around. He frowned though when he saw the necklace dangling in front of him. He recognized that it was a dog tag for the Queen’s Army. He grasped it and read what it said;

Severus looked back up at Harry, gaping at the younger man, who smiled at him.

“I didn’t know that you had served in the Queen’s Army.” Harry chucked before cuddling with Severus.

“Not many do but I didn’t serve for very long anyway. Only two years before I was forcibly retired.” Seeing Severus’ frown, Harry explained further, “I got caught in a mine blast that sent shrapnel into my right leg. I went the rehabilitation but I never really could run again.” Severus leaned into Harry, who swayed back and forth to the same tune.

“Why are you telling me this?”

“Because I want you to have that.” Severus pulled back a little to stare up at Harry. “I really do, Severus, and it would mean a lot to me if you took it.” Severus held it back out to Harry, who took it with a frown, and turned around, drawing his hair up. Harry smiled before placing the necklace around Severus’ neck, sealing the clasp.

“Why did you go to the manor anyway?” Harry chuckled lightly as he held Severus, who was playing with the tag now.

“I wanted Remus and Lucius to have my Diploma for high school and I gave Draco my school ring.” Severus smiled lightly, understanding that Harry would eventually explain it to him, as he turned around and gently kissed Harry before seeing another dog tag on Harry’s own neck. He reached for it but stopped, waiting for permission from Harry. Harry sighed but nodded. Severus picked it up to read it, expecting a copy of Harry’s, but read a different one.

“Danny and I signed up together and got into the same squad out of boot camp. He was best friend and we stuck together no matter what. Many said that we could have won the war against Iraq by ourselves if we had wanted to. We were in the mine blast together.” Severus listened to Harry and then asked;

“What happened to him?” Harry swallowed before replying;

“He didn’t make it.” Severus hugged Harry tighter, hearing the pain in his voice. “The rookie that stepped on the mine had called him over, seeing something in the ground. Danny was only a few feet away from me, but the blast caught him and sent him hurling over me. Still have gotten over the fact that I survived or that I woke up to being covered in body parts that I later realized where him.”

Severus choked at the last bit but didn’t loosen his grip on Harry, knowing that Harry had been hurt far more deeply than many ever knew.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.”

“No, you needed to know and I don’t mind that you did ask.” Harry laid his cheek against Severus’ head as he held him close. “It doesn’t hurt as bad to talk to you about these things and I want to tell you everything, but I lived for so long hiding all the pain and anger away that I don’t know how to go about uncovering them to anyone.”

“That’s okay, Harry. We’ll take it a little by little. I’m in no hurry.” Severus reassured him as he gently kissed Harry’s cheek. “I can wait as long as you need me to.” Harry nodded into Severus neck, allowing the older man to comfort him when he had always run from comfort in the past.

They stood like that for the longest time, the potion already ruined, but Severus didn’t care. He was determined to stay like that as long as Harry needed him to. Harry sighed and kissed his neck before drawing back.

“Could I sleep next to you tonight?” Severus blinked at the question but smiled and nodded.

“Of course.” Harry smiled slightly before taking Severus’ hand and leading him to the bedroom. Severus went into the bathroom to get ready for bed while Harry took of his boots and his socks. He stripped out of his shirt just as Severus walked back out. He blinked at the sight of Harry’s naked chest but got into the bed anyway.

Harry smiled again and lay down on the bed too. He curled up behind and around Severus, who sighed in contentment.

“I love you, Severus.” Severus nuzzled Harry’s hand before replying softly;

“I could grow to love you, Harry.”
