Chap
There were whispers at first. But as her pregnancy advanced everyone almost forgot that she had no husband; Mrs. Martinez surely had something to do with it. She had to thank her one day.
Hermione went in for her fourth month checkup; only a month earlier she had found out she was pregnant.
She sat patiently waiting for Dr. Mago. She ran her hand over her midsection. Through the hospital gown, she could feel the bulge. She sighed.
“Ah, Hermione,” Dr. Mago entered the exam room.
She smiled at the doctor as she lay down on the examination table. She took in deep breaths.
Dr. Mago lifted the hospital gown revealing her midsection. He squirted something that felt like a gel onto her flesh. He placed the hand held scanner onto her stomach. She took in a sharp breath as the cold metal touched her skin. The doctor moved the scanner around as he looked at the small little monitor showing the sonogram images.
He nodded his head. Hermione did not understand the images showing up on the little screen.
“Felicitaciones, Hermione,” Dr. Mago said congratulating her as he pressed a small button on the monitor. A still picture printed out. “Gemelos.”
“¿Qué?”
“Twins, Hermione,” Dr. Mago said as he showed her the black and white printout.
She saw the two round globes, which she took to be the heads of the fetuses. Twins, he had said. She took a double take. She smiled as a tear fell onto her still exposed stomach.
Dr. Mago looked at her sincerely, “Todavía no sabemos los sexos de los dos. But we should know the genders by next month’s checkup. Everything looks like the pregnancy is going fine.”
She smiled again at the doctor. She returned her attention to the small photo of the two children. She sighed, still smiling.

A/N: I know the chapters are quite short; and Draco's out of the picture for the moment, but he'll come back into the fold in another couple of chapters.
