I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Chapter 13
Author’s Note: Hermione is going to be a bit dark. This doesn’t follow with OTP or HBP. Sirius Black is alive and in my story Severus is a pure blood. Just so you know.
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything you recognize. So please don’t sue.
Summery: It’s been six years since Hermione left Hogwarts. She’s been doing a secret mission for the Order. Suddenly she and Severus are thrown together. Will they be able to work together or will they end up killing each other? R/R
Our Paths Cross Again
Chapter 13
Monday morning dawned. It matched Severus’s mood perfectly. Cold, windy and gloomy. It was almost like a blizzard outside. He didn’t want to leave Hermione’s side. He was about to leave her side and get ready for his first class, when Albus walked in.
“Going somewhere my boy?” Albus asked.
“I was fixing to head to my class.” Severus answered.
“You will do no such thing. Severus, I know you and Hermione are in love. Even though you two may not have said the words, your actions toward one another are clear. Right now she needs you. I will cover your classes till she awakens. And no arguments.” Albus instructed.
“Yes sir. But could you at least follow my syllabus?” Severus asked.
“I will. You have my word.” Albus answered.
Albus patted Severus’s shoulder and exited the room. Severus let out a relieved sigh. He was glad he was allowed to stay with Hermione. He knew he wouldn’t have been able to concentrate on his classes. Not with her being in the condition she was in. He sent for his breakfast and ate in silence.
At the same moment in 12 Grimmwauld Place, Harry, Ron, Sirius and Remus sat around the kitchen table talking. All four were still shaken about what had happened to Hermione and what she had done to those Death Eaters.
“I can’t believe Hermione did that to those Death Eaters.” Harry said.
“Now I’m glad I never pissed her off too much when we were in school.” Ron added.
“What I want to know is where she learned to do that? I know she didn’t learn it from any of us.” Sirius said.
Remus remained quiet. His mind was currently thinking about something else. He had not missed the look of horror on Severus’s face when he had heard about what Hermione had done to those guys. Sirius had also told him of Severus’s reaction when Poppy told them about the poison and Hermione being in a coma.
‘So, the day no one thought would come has come indeed. Severus is in love with Hermione. I wonder if she feels the same for him? I hope so. God knows the man deserves some happiness in his life after all he’s been through.’ Remus thought.
“What do you think Remus?” Sirius asked.
“Huh? I didn’t hear what you said.” Remus replied.
“I said, I wondered what was up with old Snivillus. The fact that he actually seemed to show some kind of human emotion Saturday. What do you think is up with him?” Sirius asked.
“I have no idea Sirius. Maybe, being around Albus so much is finally rubbing off on him.” Remus answered.
They all laughed. Remus decided he would pay a visit to Severus later in the week and find out what was going on between him and Hermione. Perhaps he could help the two. He returned to the conversation at the table.
Back at Hogwarts Severus sat reading a book when there was a soft knock on the door. He sat the book aside and opened it. He was surprised to see Minerva standing there with some flowers.
“May I come in?” she asked.
Severus stepped aside and let her in. Minerva conjured a vase of water and placed the flowers in it and sat on the table at Hermione’s bedside. Severus returned to his chair and just watched Minerva.
“Severus, is it true? That you and Hermione are in love?” she asked.
“Albus. He really is a meddling old fool.” he hissed.
“Is it?” Minerva repeated.
“I don’t know how she feels, but I love her. What business is it of yours?” he growled.
“Severus, I think it’s wonderful. When Albus told me on Saturday, I was shocked, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. You and she are so alike. Even more so now. I just wanted to hear it from you. But Albus is rarely wrong about such things.” Minerva said.
Severus nodded. Minerva leaned over and kissed Hermione’s forehead, bid Severus goodbye and left. Severus once more took Hermione’s hand in his and gently ran his other hand across the back of hers.
“I miss you Hermione. I know you’re still here, but I miss being able to talk to you. To hold you. I wish I had said those three words that I’m so scared to tell you when you’re awake. I love you. I don’t even know if you hear me when I tell you at night when you fall asleep in my arms.
“I hope you do. But I promise this. Once you awake, I will tell you every chance I get that I love you. You will be so sick of hearing it, but I won’t stop until you tell me to. Please wake up Hermione. Fight whatever it is that has done this to you. Don’t give in. Fight it damnit.” he whispered.
Somewhere deep in the recesses of Hermione’s mind, she heard his words. They gave her strength and comfort. She was determined to fight through this and get back to where she belonged. In Severus’s arms.
