“Kevin!” Alex yelled after him. Chasing him through the castle, always just catching a glimpse of his black cloak whipping around the corner. He led her down to the dungeons. Alas aas almost out of breath when she saw a figure at the end of a corridor. Taking deep breaths she walked up to him. “Why did you bring me down here? And why did you make me chase you? Now I’m all sweaty and my make up is running…” The cloaked figure turned around, wand drawn. It wasn’t Kevin…and it wasn’t Severus.
“Going somewhere?” Smirked Crabbe. He cornered her between the wall and a statue. She had to think. She couldn’t reach her wand, which was tucked in her bodice. Even being as thick as he was would notice that. It wasn’t easily accessible. Plus the sweat would make it stick.
His mouth was clumsily sucking on her neck in a second and his hands were everywhere. In between sloppy kisses he said, “You are sooo damn sexy tonight. It’s a shame I couldn’t get to you sooner. We’d have more time to play.”
“Get off of me!” Alex tried to push him away. Struggling made it seem easier for Crabbe to work her s up. up.
“Go ahead, scream, everyone is at the ball, no one can save you this time.” He was just undoing his pants when a whispered ‘Stupefy’ came from the darkness. He fell to the floor groaning.
Alex straightened herself out and then turned to thank her rescuer. It was her mysterious phantom. “Thank you…uummm, who are you? Is that you Kevin?” The phantom just stood there. After Alex felt good and uncomfortable, he turned and walked away. After he took a few steps, Alex followed after him, leaving behind a stunned Crabbe.
“Wait! At least tell me who you are!” She followed him through passages and then led her down past Severus’ private labs. She didn’t recognize where she was going. “Where are we going?…I’d really like to know who you are… You’re very sweet… Thank you for the rose…” No matter what she said, the phantom kept on walking. She didn’t know why she kept on following him or why she trusted him. After all, she didn’t know where they were going or who he was, he could just pick up where Crabbe left off. When they got to a dead end, he whispered something and a door appeared and opened. They walked through and she realized immediately where they were. She didn’t speak for a while. He turned and lowered his hood.
“Severus…” She threw herself at him and hugged him. “Thank you for saving me from Crabbe. I don’t think I could’ve gotten away that time…”
“He’s done this before?!”
“Well, yes, but I’ve always gotten away.”
He wasn’t looking at her. Something was wrong.
“What’s wrong love? You’re not going to yell at me for that? Or punish me? Why haven’t you called for me the past week? I’ve missed you…believe it or not…”
“You don’t miss me, and don’t call me love.”
“Wha-”
“Stop,…can’t we just talk and have a cup of tea…”
“Well, yes…sure, whatever you want.” This was an odd turn of events for them.
He sent the house elves down with some tea and they sat in front of the fireplace and talked. This was the Severus she fell in love with that morning she made love to him. His guard was dropped and he looked younger, more relaxed. After a few hours of laughing and talking, he got quiet and a pained expression came upon his face.
****************************
Severus had to get away from her. She was so beautiful and he wanted her. But he knew he could never have her as his. She was his because he made it that way, not because she wanted him. He left her in the gardens with his rose. He had to get away before his heart broke. He fled for his rooms. He knew she was following him. Right when he was almost to his rooms and he thought he had lost her, he felt something go wrong. Something was not right. Alex was in trouble. He turned around and went to her. He found Crabbe assaulting her and a jealous boiling rage filled him. He didn’t think twice and stupefied him. Alex straightened her dress and turned to face him.
“Thank you…uummm, who are you? Is that you Kevin?”
She thought he was Kevin…great. So this is where her heart was. She wasn’t his after all. He couldn’t speak. Tears threatened to spill from his eyes if he moved any part of his face. He turned and walked slowly back to his rooms, with her on his heals. He didn’t want to, couldn’t, turn her away. She wanted to know who her rescuer was. They reached his rooms and he took down the wards to let them in. After she realized where she was and who he was, he took down his hood.
“Severus…” She threw herself at him and hugged him. “Thank you for saving me from Crabbe. I don’t think I could’ve gotten away that time…”
“He’s done this before?!” He was even madder now.
“Well, yes, but I’ve always gotten away.”
He looked to the floor. He couldn’t look at her, she was so perfect and he was forcing her to be his…this had to stop. She didn’t deserve this.
“What’s wrong love? You’re not going to yell at me for that? Or punish me? Why haven’t you called for me the past week? I’ve missed you…believe it or not…”
She called him love? Why must she torment him this way. “You don’t miss me, and don’t call me love.”
“Wha-”
“Stop,…can’t we just talk and have a cup of tea…” He didn’t want to hear excuses or apologies. He didn’t want her to lead him onto believe she was honest in calling him that.
“Well, yes…sure, whatever you want.”
They talked about everything. They laughed and had idle conversation and serious conversation. This wasn’t good, it made him fall in love with her even more. He had to let her go. He’ll hurt without her, but he’ll be damned if he kept her, his heart would break more knowing she wasn’t here because she wanted to be.
“Alex…” He stood up and offered his hand. She hesitantly took it, apprehension in her eyes. He held her close and whispered the incantation to release her from his spell.
“You can go now.” He waved his hand towards the door.
“What did you just do?”
“Nothing, I…just leave.”
“You just released me…didn’t you.” It was more a statement than anything else.
He closed his eyes and turned away. “Yes.”
“But why? I haven’t made you happy? What did I do wrong?! I thought that maybe you l…” He could hear her voice break, and was she about to say love? Why would she be this upset? She should be happy.
“Just leave Miss Owens!”
“So you’re just going to push me away? You got what you wanted and that’s it?! How dare you! And to think that I might be…” Her words were choked off and she left. He went to his bar and poured himself some fire whiskey.
Thanks for being patient guys! I love reviews! Good reviews mean faster updates!
