Intermission 2- Dumbledore lives on in contempt

Intermission 2- Dumbledore lives on in contempt
September 3, 2008

Amelia Bones was getting ready for her day. She had gotten dressed for work this wet September 2nd in a black silk, and was ready to head to work. She had over slept today, and was in a hurry. The rain pouring down had caused her to sleep way past her normal time because rain kept lulling her back to sleep. She was only stopped from her rush to get to work by an owl flying through her window and dropping a book and letter onto her lap as she put on her shoes. Amelia was running too late to do more than simply thank the owl, and she brought the book and letter with her as she disappeared with a pop.

Amelia reappeared in the lobby of the Ministry of Magic. She hurried past the guard at the desk, because as the Deputy Minister, she hadn't had to check her wand in a long time. She walked down the halls passing many witches and wizards. She heard them talk about the search for Severus Snape, and Draco Malfoy. She remembered that they hadn't had any leads on the two since that fateful day at Hogwarts. As she made it to the elevators though she had to duck no less than a hundred memos flying around like paper airplanes when she got inside, she was alone in the elevator unless you count the hundred or so memos getting on and off the elevator. She had finally made it down to her floor, and she walked into her office. You have two different numbers here. This needs to be fixed.

Lucky or unlucky for Amelia, she found that she had little to do. Amelia took out the diary and letter and she started reading the letter first. She noticed it was from her niece and it had none of the pleasantries that her niece usually wrote in her letters. This letter was all business, and if Amelia didn't recognize Susan's writing, she would have sworn this wasn't Susan.

'Aunt Amelia

I got this from a student on the train today. It seems to be Dumbledore's diary, and it shows Dumbledore trying to run Harry Potter's life. I have also read several entries of him trying to play the Ministry of Magic, and it seems to detail his creation of Lord Voldemort to give himself more influence over the magical world. I had no clue what else to do other than send it to you. Please look at it and see if it really is Dumbledore's diary. Please get back to me.

Your Niece,
Susan'

Amelia read through the diary, and she noticed it contained details only Dumbledore would know. The entries provided details on the Order of the Phoenix, Hogwarts students, the Ministry of Magic, and spies that Dumbledore never reported to the Ministry. It detailed how Dumbledore had known about a traitor being in the school during the Tri-Wizard Tournament, and how Dumbledore had willingly kept it from the Ministry. It also told of using Harry Potter as bait to lure out the traitor, and he never bothered to check his own people such as Mad-Eye Moody. The diary went as far as listing all the members of the Order of the Phoenix. As Amelia read on, she saw more and more of Dumbledore's treachery as it popped out from the pages. What really made her mad was it contained evidence of the innocence of Sirius Black. She remembered how when Lord Sirius Black was arrested Dumbledore never came forward to defend Lord Sirius Black.

Amelia was distracted from reading more of the Diary when Gilbert Wimple came into her office. Wimple kept going on and on about his new charm he was working on, and he requested more funding to perfect his new charms. Amelia was getting annoyed at Wimple as he wouldn't shut up. Wimple handed his journals of new charms hoping to get the money he felt he deserved. When Amelia handing the journals back, she never noticed that she had accidently handed the diary back with them. She simply told Wimple that there was nothing ground breaking, and she refused to get him anymore money.

Wimple left Amelia Bones office, and he went down to the elevators. He had to dodge many memos, and he regretted ever creating the charm to market the flying memos. He took the elevator down to his floor. He passed by the accidental magic reversal offices as he walked to his department. He laughed as he saw a wizard being brought in for being an illegal animagus. He knew that the wizard would have never been caught if he hadn't froze in mid-transformation, and he was a sight as he was almost all horse other than his head. He laughed all the rest of the way to his office.

Wimple sat down at his desk reading through his journals, and he noticed one of the journals wasn't his. He read the cover to see it was the personal diary of Dumbledore. He opened it believing it contained charms or other insights. He was surprised to find that it only contained his pureblood corruption. Wimple was muggle born, and he, once, had looked up to Dumbledore completely. As Wimple read through the diary, he lost more and more respect for his old teacher. If Wimple hadn't seen Dumbledore's writing before, he would have sworn that this diary couldn't be Dumbledore's. The diary was so full of dark arts and pureblood racism that no decent weird would ever write it. Wimple had only met Harry Potter once, but he knew that no child let alone the Boy-Who-Lived should have ever been used like Harry was. Wimple had once considered joining the Order of the Phoenix, but no one that read this diary would ever march under Dumbledore.

As the day went on, Wimple had started working on his charms again. He was so absorbed in his thoughts that he wasn't paying attention to his charms work. He worked on his new charm to stop the uneasy feeling of apprehension but something had gone wrong and his ears had fallen off. Wimple sent a SOS memo next door to the accidental magic reversal squad, and it wasn't the first time he had done this in his career. No one ever said anything about it as it was common knowledge that his department was a dangerous job.

Wimple was pleased to see Arnold Peasegood running in the door. Peasegood waved his wand a few times to see what exactly he had to fix on Wimple. Peasegood knew enough that visible effects of a spell were never the only damage in accidental magic. A few more waves of his wand Peasegood was satisfied that he had fixed Wimple right as rain, and he took Wimples journals to find just what had cause this strange effect. Neither Peasegood nor Wimple realized that Peasegood had grabbed Dumbledore's diary as well.

Peasegood went back to his office, and he sat down at his desk to look over the journals. He read down the journals of average at best charms, and when he got to the last book, he found that it was actually the diary of Albus Dumbledore. He, like Amelia Bones and Gilbert Wimple before him, was shocked at what the old and respected wizard had done. Peasegood, like Wimple, had only met Harry once during the World Cup three years ago. Peasegood's bile built up in his throat as he read just how much Dumbledore had not only tricked Harry Potter into doing his bidding but also the rest of the wizarding world. Peasegood like so many others had always looked up to the aged wizard and he couldn't believe what the true face of Dumbledore was like. Peasegood was one of the people that had tried to stop Dumbledore from hiring Severus Snape for a position at Hogwarts. Peasegood was in Hogwarts at the same time as James Potter and Severus Snape. He was no fan of James Potter, but he knew that most of the things that Potter had done to Snape was justifiable in his days at Hogwarts. All the respect Peasegood had once had for Dumbledore was gone by the time he finished reading the diary.

Peasegood was snapped out of his pondering of the diary when his stomach growled. He carried the diary in hopes of running into Amos Diggory. He walked along dodging memos as he went to the lunch room, and he found his old friend Amos. Peasegood had to show his old friend the diary as the death of Diggory's son was written about inside the diary's pages. The conversation was light to begin with until Diggory noticed the diary tucked under Peasegood's arm.

"What is with the journal, Arnold?" Amos asked having never seen Arnold carry a book around.

"I got this by accident. It is the diary of Albus Dumbledore, and I think you should read it." Arnold told him with a heavy heart.

"Why should I read Dumbledore's diary?" Amos asked totally confused.

"Amos just read it. You will know why soon enough." Arnold told him.

Peasegood got up without another word leaving Diggory very confused. Diggory simply ate the rest of his lunch quietly, and when he was done he walked down to his office. There wasn't anything for Diggory to do today as there hadn't been problems to deal with for the last week. Diggory had to find out what could have made his friend go quiet. He opened the diary and he started to read it. He was very unhappy with Dumbledore's secrets but when he got to the entries of the Tri-Wizard Tournament, he almost hit the roof. He almost yelled out in rage as he read that Dumbledore had known that something was wrong and yet Dumbledore did nothing to stop the death of his son. If that wasn't bad enough, Dumbledore called Cedric's death a bonus. Dumbledore actually had thought that the death of his son was a bonus because it caused everyone to look to Dumbledore for leadership. Diggory silently raged and he cursed Dumbledore's name under his breath.

Diggory knew what he had to do. As Diggory ran down the halls, memo's burst into flames and exploded by his out of rage filled magic. He never bothered to notice the halls or the people he knocked down as he ran to the Minister's office. He would have justice or revenge at the moment and he really didn't care which. He made it to the Minister's office in record setting time. He never even bothered to check in with Percy Weasley, and he just burst through the Minister's office doors.

"What is the meaning of this, Diggory." Rufus Scrimgour asked clearly enraged at Diggory's actions.

"Minister, I have something you have to read." Diggory almost snapped at Scrimgeour.

Before Scrimgeour could ask what Diggory was talking about, Diggory shoved the diary into Scrimgeour's hands. Diggory wasn't about to stick around and he silently left as Scrimgeour started to read the diary. Scrimgeour was never a fan of Dumbledore but he had never thought Dumbledore was capable of the things in the diary. He couldn't help but believe that Fudge had it mostly right all along. The only thing that Dumbledore wanted was power. Scrimgeour, as a former head of the Auror department, hadn't seen even a death eater with such a superiority complex. Scrimgeour used his powers as minister to make a copy of the diary and he sent it off to the only MLE officer he trusted. Scrimgeour hadn't even finished reading it but he had seen enough. He knew that the copy would only last a few days, but it would be long enough to strip Dumbledore of all his titles. Scrimgeour felt he no longer needed Harry Potter as even with all the things Dumbledore had gotten him to do Harry had refused more than once to help the ministry. Scrimgeour was the type that if he didn't need you that you had better stay out of his way. Scrimgeour suddenly realized that Harry wasn't only not with him, but Harry actually could be a torn to his side. Scrimgeour made up his mind that he needed to get Harry Potter out of the way because as long as Harry was out there the wizarding world would look to Harry instead of the ministry to fight Voldemort. Scrimgeour needed the wizarding world behind him to be able to fight Voldemort, but that meant he had to naturalize Lord Potter.

Scrimgeour was snapped out of making his plans when Perkins came into the office. Perkins had come to show Scrimgeour a muggle diary that had been charmed to trap the writer in its pages. Scrimgeour and Perkins spent a while talking about the course of action they would take on the new threat to muggles. Scrimgeour dismissed Perkins after a while, but he handed back the wrong diary.

Perkins made his way down to this office as he barely dodged the memos flying down the halls. He had just made it to his office when a memo zoomed into his hands. The memo was about more shrinking keys appearing at muggle key shops. He simply walked to his desk, and he left Dumbledore’s diary on his desk. He walked back out into the hall, and he greeted Arthur Weasley as they past each other right outside the door to their office.

Arthur was checking what he had missed for the day when he noticed the diary on Perkins desk. He picked it up and scanned it with his wand. Arthur was confused when it showed that it wasn't enchanted or jinxed. He opened the diary to find out why it was in their office and his eyes almost popped out of his skull. He couldn't believe Perkins had Dumbledore's diary. He couldn't contain his curiosity as if Dumbledore had written anything in it about what he had gone to do the day he died. Arthur was shocked and he got more and more enraged as he read things that Dumbledore had done. He couldn't believe Dumbledore had actually left the names of members of the Order of the Phoenix in the diary either. If he hadn't been shocked enough, Arthur wasn't pleased to read the things that his son, Ron, and his daughter Ginny had done.

Arthur knew his son had died because of what he had done to Harry. He didn't want to believe his daughter was a slag but the more he thought about it he couldn't deny that his daughter made sexual advances to a lot of guys. Ron had shamed the Weasley name with his actions against Harry Potter, the savior of the wizarding world. Arthur wasn't happy when Ginny had told him a complete lie about Harry and her being together that he found out wasn't true at Bill's Wedding. Bill, Charlie, Fleur, Gabriella and the twins had abandoned Molly, Ginny, and himself because they said Harry would never hurt a member of the Weasley Clan without good reason. Arthur remembered how the fight had split his family when Molly sided with Ron and Ginny over Harry and Hermione. Arthur until he had read the diary was stuck in the middle but now he had to admit he was now firmly on Harry's side. Arthur couldn't show it though because quite frankly he was afraid of this wife.

Arthur broke out of his thoughts when he remembered that the Order should see the diary. He ran up to the lobby dodging memos and he avoided everyone as he finally made it there. He apparated as soon as he was in the lobby directly into the new order headquarters. Sirius's old house was no longer safe with the death of Dumbledore and Arthur wondered if it was ever really safe with Dumbledore the leader of the order. He simply left the Diary with Remus Lupin and Arthur left to get back to the ministry.
