Time to Think

Chapter Thirteen

Ginny was sitting on the floor in her room, crying. She was searching through her box of pictures and letters when Draco knocked. She didn't hear him knock, she was in her own world.

Ginny heard footsteps coming from the living room. Fearing it was Ruby, she made to quickly stash her box. There was a soft knock on her open bedroom door. Turning, she saw it was Draco and Lucifer.

"Lucifer, why don't you go watch TV?" Draco suggested upon seeing the tears streaming down Ginny's face.

"Okay Daddy." The little boy replied, running excitedly into the living room. Draco then walked over and sat down beside Ginny, putting his arms around her. The two sat in silence for a while, listening to the sounds of the television.

"Everything's so messed up, Draco." Ginny sobbed after a while.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Well just look at me, look at my life!" She half shouted.

"You're life isn't messed up, it's fine. What are you talking about?" Draco said, trying to comfort her. He was always so bad at that.

"How's this not messed up? Just look at what I've made of my life! I haven't seen or spoke to my family in years, I dance around half naked in a bar for a living, I live with a woman who I thought I loved, but yet I cheat on her with someone who completely despised me in school, I never finished school-" Draco silence her with a kiss, which she pulled out of quickly.

"What was that for?" She asked, confused.

"You're life isn't messed up, it's just a little out of whack, that's all." He told her.

"Yeah, right." Ginny replied sarcastically. Draco smoothed some stray hairs away from her face and looked her right in the eyes.

"Most people would really admire what you did. You started a life here all by yourself when you were sixteen. That took courage." Ginny snorted.

"Yeah, really courageous running away from my old life so I don't get killed."

"Look, if you hate your life so much, then why don't you fix it?"

"How am I supposed to do that, exactly?" Ginny asked. She doubted she could fix it, her family probably hated her since she hasn't spoke to them. And even if they didn't, they would hate who she had become. She was nothing but a two-timing whore.

"Make things right," Draco said. "If you hate it so much, get a new job."

"With what qualifications?" She replied. She'd never gone to muggle school, so nowhere would hire her.

"You have many skills that employers would value." Ginny laughed again.

"Yeah, I can sing half decent and shake my bloody ass for a bunch of drunk middle aged men. Besides, no one could hire me now anyway." Draco gave her a confused look.

"Why not?" He asked. Ginny let out a long sigh. She had to tell him, but now then anything.

"Because I'm pregnant, Draco." She braced herself for the yelling. She knew he'd be mad, they'd only been fooling around and it hadn't been for long. There was no way he could accept something this big.

Draco stood up and began to pace the room, face in his hands, letting the information sink in.

"I'd understand if you want nothing to do with it. I've been thinking about just going to a doctor and getting rid of it." She said quickly, causing him to stop pacing and look at her.

"An abortion?" He asked.

"Yes, that's the word." She said. Alright, maybe he'd go for that idea. She could just go to the doctor's, get rid of it and they could forget it all happened. She could get her life back on track, maybe patch things up with Ruby. Of course Draco will probably never want to speak to her again. He was a Malfoy and she was a Weasley, they couldn't have anything real between them. They were simply fooling around, soon he'd find something better with a prettier girl. She was just another shag to him, there was nothing there but physical attraction.

"Do you even know what an abortion is?" Draco asked. Ginny shook her head in response. She'd had no time to research the precedure. "An abortion is where they kill the baby, painfully."

"Why would anyone do that to their baby?" She asked, shocked. She never thought that's what an abortion was. Ginny silently cursed herself for being so stupid.

"I don't know, it mostly just for women who are unfit to raise a child or are raped or something." He told her.

"Then what are we gonna' do?" She asked, tears stinging her eyes. Draco began to pace again, not looking at Ginny.

"I don't know Gin," He said after a while. "I really can't deal with this now." Ginny bowed her head.

"I understand." Draco knelt down beside her and held her tear stained face in his hands.

"I'm sorry, I just need some time to think this over." He kissed her quickly on the lips, then walked out of the room. He told Lucifer it was time to go (which made the toddler scream out and stamp his feet) then the two left, leaving Ginny to cry to herself, staring at the picture of her family.

*

The weeks passed by and Ginny didn't hear from Draco. She often found herself staring at the phone, wishing he would call.

She deeply regretted telling him of her pregnancy. If she hadn't, she could of just ran off, maybe move to a different city and start a new life for her and her baby.

Ruby was rarely home anymore. She never said where she went, she glared at Ginny and left. Ginny didn't mind, she knew she didn't love Ruby so she figured it was less painful for them to be apart as much as possible.

Ginny spent her time alone in her apartment crying. She had to force herself to eat, but only did so in consideration for the baby. She also thought a lot about the past, about her life at home in the wizarding world. Many times she found herself wanting to go back to how things used to be. Back to spending time with her friends and family. Her late nights staying up talking to Hermione about everything from boys to school to money problems.

She missed how things used to be. She missed being a carefree teenager whose biggest worry was wether or not Harry would notice her. Ginny found herself digging through her box of memories a lot, crying over the lost time with her family.

After a long day moping around the house one day, Ginny decided to do some research on pregnancies. She and Ruby owned a computer so she went and looked it up on the internet.

She found many helpful tips about what kind of physical changes to look for and what is and is not good for the baby. She found out she wouldn't be noticably showing for a few months, which was good so she had more time to work and earn some money. There were places where she could go where they would help her through her pregnancy and in starting a new life. That way, if Draco didn't want to be involved, she could still make it on her own.

After reading for nearly an hour, Ginny phoned the doctor. A website she had found told her she should be having regular check-ups to make sure everything was going smoothly. She made an appointment for the next day, then called in sick for the next few days at Sugar Dolls.

The owner wasn't too happy, but she convinced him she was really ill, so he accepted the excuse and warned her to not take too much time off.

Ginny was watching a sad movie (she was doing that a lot more lately) when Draco randomly came into her thoughts. She knew she should call him and let him know about her appointment, it was only right since he was the father.

She picked up the phone as she felt her stomache do a nervous flop. She sat listening to the dial tone, still deciding on whether she really wanted to call him or not. Obviously he didn't want to speak with her, it'd been weeks and he hadn't once tried to speak with her. Ignoring her best instincts, Ginny dialed Draco's number.

The phone rang for what seemed forever. She half hoped he'd hang up on her, it was better then hearing he didn't want anything to do with her. After a while, the answering machine picked up. Relieved, Ginny left a short message telling Draco the details about her appointment the next day and hung up.

She sat back on the couch, one hand laid gently on her stomache.

"Oh, what am I going to do?" Ginny asked herself as the tears flowed freely down her face.
