Chapter 13:

Erin was finally awake and was leaning heavily against Harry while sitting on a blanket. She was shocked to find that she was unconscious for over three days. Harry was looking a bit ragged as he refused to leave her side the whole time. They were still trying to figure out how someone had given her an unknown potion without anyone noticing. That was why she was unconscious for so long. Her body had healed her wounds but couldn’t fight off the potion at the same time. Just the same she was glad to finally be well even if she was still a bit weak. She hoped in time they would catch the one responsible.

Erin cleared her mind and looked up at the ceiling of the room she was in. It was an indoor garden, yet she couldn’t see a wall per say and from what she could tell she was looking up at the warm sun.

“Harry, did my mother explain to you how we can be in the palace, yet still be looking up at the sun?” Erin asked.

“Magic, Erin. And, believe it or not, we really are looking up at the sun and feeling the warmth of it.” He said as he held on to her tighter. “This is how the few mortal humans stay here for so long. This room was created for those that couldn’t leave so that they would never long for the touch of the sun on their flesh. If we were to walk, we could go on forever in this forest and could stay here day and night enjoying the passing seasons.” Harry said with a smile.

“If that was true, how would we be able to go back into the palace when we want to leave this enchanted room?” Erin asked.

“By our will alone. If you wanted to see the door to leave, all you have to do is wish for it.” Harry said rubbing his chin upon the top of her head.

“How is it that you know so much more than I do about my own world?” Erin asked almost frustrated that she had missed so much.

“Well, you were asleep for a while and Rowan came to see me. He did well to update me on your Fae culture.” Harry said with a laugh at Erin’s huff of frustration.

“I’m the one needing assistance. I don’t know nearly enough.” She said with a frown.

“Erin, did you ever wonder why most of who we see here are blond with fair eyes?” Harry asked suddenly.

“Actually yes, I noticed a few dark haired fae, but most are fair.” She responded.

“Well, apparently those that are dark haired are actually those that have mixed with other Fae than that of the Sidhe Fae. Most of those that are of mixed blood have been of the Unseelie court, but those faithful to the lighter side are welcomed here. But at the same time, they are not as respected as those of pure blood.” Harry said a bit sadly.

“Oh, Harry. Don’t tell me that the Fae world is just as prejudice as the Wizarding world.” Erin asked as she turned slightly to face Harry. She couldn’t believe that so many cultures could be so harsh.

“Apparently it is. That is why I was so surprised by the fact that you are to be Heir since you have less powerful blood than they do, being that you’re Mortal and they are still Immortal.” Harry said.

“Actually, I did ask my mother the same thing.” She said as she leaned casually against Harry once again. “And it’s because of the Royal blood. Apparently, it’s more important to have Royal blood on the throne than anything else. That being mortal can be overlooked as long as I breed and pass on that royal blood. They hope that one day my descendants will breed the mortal blood out and they would have an immortal on the throne once again.” Erin said looking over her shoulder at Harry.

“But I’m not immortal Erin.” Harry stated.

“True, but our child will be powerful. And I hate to say this, but we are to make arrangements to have our child magically bonded with a Sidhe Fae, just as we were bonded to each other.” Erin looked at Harry sadly. She loved him dearly, but when you get right down to it, it really wasn’t their choice. It was the magic that brought them together.

Harry read her thoughts and understood what she meant. He too wondered what it would have been like had they been given the choice. But at this point it wasn’t important. He loved her and that was just the way it was. He wanted no other.

Harry turned Erin in his arms and held her in his lap. He kissed her passionately allowing his kisses tell her all she needed to know.

Back at the one of the hidden Malfoy estates, various men were meeting with the elder Malfoy.

“So, how did it go Lucius?” The man asked.

“As well as one could hope. Prince Rhys is still suspicious of my motives.” Lucius said. “But he mustn’t find out. We will continue with our plans and do as our Lord asked of us. All that matters now is that my son and his daughter mate.”

“And what of Miss Parkinson?” The second asked.

“What of her? She has played her part and knows she isn’t truly Draco’s betrothed. Her job was to simply keep Draco occupied until his true betrothed came to him.” Lucius replied. “And that gentleman will occur next weekend.”

Sure enough as the weekend arrived Draco was introduced to a beautiful young girl by the name of Alana Heaton. She was the same age as he was and had long black hair with ebony eyes. Draco had never seen anyone as beautiful as her and was pleased that Alana seemed to be generally interested in him. In fact the moment he bowed and kissed the back of her hand he felt his entire body tingle as their magic reached out to one another. He smiled coyly as he noticed her body shiver at his touch.

What Draco didn’t know was that just as his arch nemesis, he was magically bound as a baby and to the girl of Fae blood. And whether he liked it or not this young woman before him was the one he was to marry.

Alana was impressed with Draco but she knew she really didn’t have any choice in the matter. Unlike Draco, she knew the entire truth and she wasn’t very happy about it. Within her body she carried the soul of her father. Just last year she felt it enter her body which in turn told her that he had fallen and won’t be reborn until the time was right. She was unsure how much Draco knew, but she had given her mother her word that she wouldn’t tell a soul. In time Draco would know the truth, but until then she was to listen to her mother and do as she was told.

Back at the Fae Palace, Harry and Erin was spending time with Erin’s mother and learning how to control her magic. And as Harry’s birthday approached, Erin and Harry’s bonds become stronger and stronger. They soon discovered that the evening of Harry’s 17th birthday, they were to perform a ceremony to publicly announce their betrothal and at the same time perform the ceremony that will allow all Fae know that Erin was named Heir and would be called Princess Erin from that time onward. But everyone knew that only upon her conceiving and giving birth to a child, would she truly be able to succeed her mother. If for some reason Erin proves barren and Prince Rhys has a female child, then she could still loose her throne.
