Chapter 12: What now?

Rhys was in his bed, in a foul mood, being attended by his healer, a Fae woman by the name of Iris. She was dark skinned with black hair and black eyes, the twin of Willow. As she healing his stomach, a man walked into the room with a click click click, alternating with the sound of footsteps on the marble floor.

“Well, well. It looks as if things didn’t go as planned.” The man drawled. Rhys was furious, not only with himself but of the man’s arrogance before him. He was in no mood to deal with arrogant man.

“Of course things didn’t go well. Why didn’t anyone tell me that she was coming into her powers!?!” Rhys yelled. He was known to have a temper and now was no different.

“Please calm down. I’m sure you can come up with another plan. My master may be gone, but not his cause.” The man said.

Rhys looked up at the blond wizard and returned the sneer he saw there. “Any suggestions?” He asked.

“Well, you could go with your ‘other’ plan and make sure she doesn’t breed. But at the same time you need to ensure that you get your own heir.” He stated. “Your kind doesn’t respond well to potions, but I’m sure we can come up with something.”

Rhys growled in frustration. “I have yet to find a woman with a strong enough womb to give me an heir.” Rhys said as he pushed his healer away. “It frustrates me to no end that it is so difficult for the Fae to breed. Once upon a time it wasn’t so difficult.” He said looking into the other mans silver eyes. “We have a problem similar to yours. We don’t have enough full blooded Fae left. Our blood has been watered down by breeding with ‘others’. Just as your own Wizard blood has been watered down by breeding with the Muggles.” Rhys said with disgust.

But as Rhys thought about this he looked closer at the man before him. He suspected that said man may have some lesser Fae in him. He had the long blond hair, the light colored eyes and was flawlessly elegant. There are many lesser Fae such as the Brownies, Goblins, Pixies, Selkies, Elves and even Veelas. The Sidhe have been mistakenly confused with Elves and Veelas in the past by those that either lacked the magic or by those too ignorant know the difference. But as he looked at the man before him, Rhys was almost positive that the man was not part Sidhe as he would have felt the similar magic within him. ‘But could he be something else, Elf or Veela perhaps?’ He thought to himself. He would have to have one of his men find out.

Rhys would continue that train of thought for another time; right now he was frustrated about Erin. “Erin may or may not be our first mortal, but what bothers me most is why my mother would allow her to be an heir to the throne.” Rhys was getting more and more frustrated the longer he thought about it.

“You could consider breeding with her yourself.” The blond wizard said. “Then you could be king and overpower her authority.” Rhys suddenly looked up at the man; an evil grin was quickly spreading across his face.

“Yes, that would prove interesting. But then I would be just as guilty as the others by allowing her ‘inferior blood’ mix with that of a full Fae, a Sidhe Fae at that.” Rhys looked down almost sadly. “It’s a shame she is so attractive. It almost overpowers my belief in strengthening the Fae blood.” Rhys really didn’t know what he should do. The plan was brilliant and Erin was very beautiful. Hadn’t he thought the same thing just before the duel? She was just a child and could easily be controlled.

“You know, I could say the same thing about you.” Rhys said as he looked into the Wizards eyes. “If you weren’t already married, you could have bred with her yourself. Then you could be king by default and control her in my steed. I’m not sure what type of magic your child would have, but I do know that you are not a true wizard. There is something else in you. What, I am not sure.” Rhys said with a frown. “When I try to read you, it’s like there is other magic there hiding it from me. I’m almost positive that there is no Sidhe Fae in you, but with the magic there, I could be wrong.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” The wizard said looking down his nose at him. “I am a true pure-blood wizard.”

Harry was concerned about Erin. She still hadn’t woken up yet and it had been two days. Willow had done all she could do. They discovered that Wizard potions didn’t work on her and when Harry suggested a Muggle transfusion for the lack of blood but they discovered that finding a match would be impossible with her unusual blood type, being both Fae and Wizard.

Harry looked down at Erin with love as he held her and stroked her back gently. She had won the duel, but at what cost. She could still die and her victory would be for nothing.

Harry stayed with her day in and day out. He refused to leave her side and continued to talk to her gently letting her know that he was with her and would never leave her. Begging her to stay strong and heal.

Harry finally felt Erin shift in her sleep on the eve of her second day after her duel. And as he looked at her, he saw her eyes flutter. “Erin, my love, do you hear me? Please talk to me.”

“Harry?” Erin said with a rough voice. “Harry?” She said again before falling back to sleep.

“I’m here Erin, don’t worry. Just get well.” Harry responded before he bent down and kissed her forehead. Harry was ecstatic, that was the most he had gotten from her since the moment she passed out after the duel.

Willow sensed Erin’s moment of alertness and came into the room, the room that was next door to her queen.

“How is she, Harry?” Willow asked as she walked into the room and approached the bed.

“I thought she was going to wake, but she didn’t. She did say my name twice before going back to sleep.”

“Well, it will take time. She is healing quiet well considering how much blood she lost.” Willow said as she bent down to feel Erin’s forehead. “No fever, that is good. It means she’s strong, stronger than most mortals.”

Willow then looked at Erin’s leg and arm, examining the wounds there. “That’s unusual.” Willow said. “Her tissue is repairing rather quickly, too quickly.” Willow met Harry’s eyes concerned.

“Why do you think that?” Harry asked still laying beside Erin.

“She is mortal Harry, yet she is half wizard and half fae. Neither the potions nor my magic seemed to have helped. Yet her wounds are almost completely healed.”

That is when Harry remembered something. “When she came to me the first time, I was injured and she healed me with her magic.”

“Well, it is possible that she has the gift. And it is quite possible that she is able to heal herself as well.” Willow looked down at the girl with a sigh. “Lets just hope that is the case and she wakes soon. It makes me nervous for her to be unconscious for so long. You would think we would get more response from her by now.”
