Snape\'s Choice

Chapter 12

Word got around the school fast that Lucius had challanged Professor Snape to a wizards duel. A lot of the students had never seen one, if you counted the time that Snape had done one spell to disarm Lockheart. Hermione was worried about her husband as she dressed for classes. Since she was married she was not required to wear her uniform. She grabbed her wand and left thinking that if she had to, she would leave with Severus and never return. She just couldn\'t imagine life without him.

Ron was still being a jerk when Hermione appeared wearing her new colors. He glared at her and she returned it.
\" Even dresses like him,\" he muttered. She sat down sta started serving herself some toast and eggs. She had just started on them when Ginny appeared.
\" New look?\" She asked.
\" I like it,\" she told her.
\" Well as long as you like it that\'s all that matters.\" Hermione smiled at her and then returned to her meal.

When the bell rang she went to Advance Transfiguration and at once Malfoy barred the way.
\" So I wonder what it\'s going to be like to have you as a wife,\" he remarked.
\" Well you\'ll find out when hell freezes over.\" And pushing him out of her way she went inside the classroom. The rest of the lesson passed by without her really taking anything in. Finally as the bell was about to ring Colin entered and handed the Professor a note.
\" Hermione your suppose to read this,\" she told her.

Hermione got up and taking the letter read it.

Rules for a Wizards duel

Each duelest can have a second to take over if the first one dies.

Each must bring something to the duel to give over for the winner.

The Duel is to the death.

Hermione almost wept at the last rule, but not wanting the students to see her cry she left the classroom and headed off to the Great Hall in which the duel was going to take place. When she arrived the tables had been taken out and a large platform drapped in black was present. It was not a cheery sight. Fudge was standing there with Percy and she felt like hexing him to a thousand pieces. Lucius was there and the effects that Azkaban had on him was appearent, but it seemed that they hadn\'t snapped his wand because he had it. Harry was there as well and he was talking to her husband.

\" Hermione,\" came the voice of Ginny. She turned to face the smiling girl and wondered what she was smiling about.
\" Did you hear that Harry is going to be Snape\'s second.\" Hermione looked at her in horror. She didn\'t know how powerful Harry was and if he was a match for a wizard like Lucius.
\" Who\'s going to be Lucius second?\" Hermione asked.
\" His son.\"

Hermione smiled evily at Draco who was getting his wand warmed up.
\" I hope the lot of them burn in hell.\" She spat at them. \" I know that Severus will win.\"
\" Well the Minister says that he can use the killing curse on him to finish Snape off.\"
\" What!\" Ginny nodded and that was when Moody and Tonks appeared. They looked at Fudge with deep hate.

\" I can\'t believe that he is going to allow them to use the Killing Curse,\" Moody snapped. And both of them moved passed Hermione. Harry Hermione noticed had finished talking to her husband and he got the first good look at her. He walked over and wrapped his arms around her and she kissed him. The Slytherins bood at this, but Hermione didn\'t care.
\" If you win I have a surprise for you,\" she muttered.
\" I\'m looking forward to it,\" he muttered back. \" Oh Hermione I have asked Harry to marry you if something happens to me.\"

Hermione looked at him and noticed that he was serious.
\" Since he has on head of family, he can get you for himself. I know that you would rather it be him then Malfoy.\"
\" Well lets hope that you win.\" She told him. \" Not that I\'m against Harry, its just its not the same as you.\"
\" Thanks.\" And then Fudge called the two wizards to take their places. Hermione knew that this was now or never. Either her husband would win, or Lucius would win and Harry would have to take over. She crossed her fingers for both of them.
