Second Date
A/N: Thank you so much for the wonderful reviews! I was most surprised to get some reviews even when I just edited it. I do agree with you, TheGreyLady, about seeing a story at the top and not having a new chapter with it.
Chapter Twelve: Second Date
Severus knocked lightly on the door. He then smoo dow down his normal black overcoat. He had decided to leave his normal teaching robes in the dungeons. They just didn’t quite work on a date, after all. His shoulder-length hair was pulled back. A slight smile played on his lips when he thought of the first time he had knocked on her door and found her in just a towel. He shifted uncomfortably as he tried to think of something else besides that flawless skin and how it had flushed to a shade of pink when she was angry.
Hermione heard the knock and checked her reflection once more before coming to the door. Her eyes raked over him as she lightly ran her tongue over her lips. Very nice, she thought. “Good evening, Severus.”
He drank in the sight of her. Her hair fell into soft waves down her back. She had a violet dress on with dark violet robes over it. A hint of cleavage was visible. “You look beautiful,” he stated silkily. A blush fell on her cheeks. “Ready to go.” She nodded. He motioned for to to go in front of him and shut the door of the hospital wing, noticing the note on it. He smirked as he read the part: Don’t come to get me unless someone is dying. He lightly placed his hand on the small of her back as he steered her to their awaiting carriage. Offering his hand to her, he smiled when she accepted it to get into the carriage.
She was surprised by the small things that he had done. They felt so intimate and comforting. Perhaps he really did like her and want her as much as she wanted him. She glanced out the carriage window. “It’s a beautiful night.”
“Yes, it is,” he said as he gazed upon her. He sighed softly. He was amazed that she had agreed to this date. He never really dated before. Sure, he had been out with various women, but it was more of a brief sexual encounter. He wanted Hermione, yes, but he wanted ALL of her and didn’t want to use her just for sex. His hardening arousal gave a slight leap at the thought of sex with Hermione, but he told himsto bto behave.
The carriage slowed and came to a halt just outside of the Three Broomsticks. He got out and offered his hand to her to help her down. They walked in, noticing that it was fairly crowded with the normal Saturday evening crowd.
“There are a lot of people here. I hope we can find a table,” she commented as she glanced around.
He smirked. “Don’t worry about it.” Albus Dumbledore and Lucius Malfoy were not the only two wizards in the world who had connections. “Come with me,” he told her as he took her hand to lead her through the busy place.
In the back of the room, there was a black velvet curtain up. He pushed it aside and allowed her to enter first. Hermione gasped slightly. There was a small, intimate table with two chairs. There was a single violet-blue rose. The room was lit with a collection of candles. A bottle of red wine was already out for them. She looked at him, completely speechless. He led her over and allowed her to sit down first before going over and sitting down as well. He was smirking as he uncorked the bottle of wine and poured them both a glass. “You look shocked,” he stated calmly as he swirled the wine in the glass and then took a sip.
She took a sip of wine before finding her voice. “I never would have pegged you as the romantic type.”
He laughed. “Never underestimate me, Hermione.”
“I’ll have to remember that,” she said as she took another sip of wine and picked up one of the menus that were placed on the table. As she was looking to see what she was going to have, she asked, “So, how did you manage to do all of this?”
Casually, he picked up his menu. “I have my ways.”
She looked up at him as she decided what to order. “You are not going to tell me then?”
“Nope.”
“You’re evil,” she teased.
He sat the menu down and grinned at her.
She laughed.
The waitress then came by and took their orders. Severus poured them both another glass of wine. He had just placed the bottle back down when the food arrived. They ate in silence for a little bit, neither one seemed to not know exactly what to say besides the idle chitchat of ‘the food’s good.’ Severus was never the one just for idle chitchat though, but he felt like he had to say something. “So, what was your childhood like? Living as a Muggle must be quite different from living as a witch.”
She swallowed the bit of food she was chewing and took a sip of wine. “It is a little different, but not as much as one would expect. I had a nice childhood. I would say that I had many friends.” She laughed. “Unless books count. I always loved to read and learn whatever I could get my hands on. My parents always encouraged me in my academic pursuits.”
“I can tell. How did they take finding out that you were a witch?” he inquired and took a sip of wine.
“Apprehensive, at first. They were then proud of me and wished me the best of luck with it.” She smiled. “I think they were disappointed that I wouldn’t become a dentist like they were. I love them to death, but I could never be a dentist! I find it so boring for the most part. I’d much rather be in this world though. It’s my home now and has been for as long as I’ve been in the Mu wor world.” She took another sip of wine, finishing her glass off. Her cheeks were slightly flushed from the effects of the wine. “What was your childhood like?”
He cringed inwardly at this question and downed the last of his wine. “Some more wine?” When she nodded, he poured her another glass and then himself. “Why did you change your mind and study Mediwizardry and Potions?” he inquired, blatantly trying to avoid her question about his childhood. It was a very soubjeubject that he did not want to discuss.
She noted that he dodged the question, but she didn’t bring it up right yet. “I guess you can say that I finally got fed up with always being in the hospital wing and never being able to help out.”
He chuckled and finished his meal. “There were times that I thought you and your friends were in the hospital wing almost more than you three were in classes.”
She nodded and finished her meal as well. “I know. Always trying to save the world is dangerous work.”
“Yes, it is,” he agreed, knowing just how dangerous it was.
“About your childhood, what was it like?” she inquired again.
He was just about to respond that he didn’t really want to talk about it when the waitress saved him. She took their dessert order and quickly brought it to them. He took a bite of the slice of pie he had ordered. “This is quite good. Have a bite.” he offered to her on his fork.
She was surprised by this and leaned forward. Slowly, she licked her lips and opened her mouth as her eyes were watching his reaction. Her lips closed around the fork as she pulled the piece of pie off the fork. “Mmm…” she moaned softly. “This is good.” She then ran her tongue over her lips again. She smirked softly, noticing that he had not taken his eyes away from her mouth.
His breathing had come a little faster as he watched her take the piece of pie. Oh, if one could envy a fork! He grabbed his glass of wine and drained it. “Yes,” he said in a silky tone.
She smiled and felt a rush of wetness between her legs. Gods, he had a sexy voice. She shifted slightly and finished her dessert and the glass of wine.
He noticed that she was finished and stood up not as fluidly as he normally would. He had a slight buzz going on from the wine. He also noticed that it was quite late now and past the students’ curfew. “Ready to go,” he said, offering his hand to her.
She took it and stood up. She giggled as she almost fell over. “I think I’m a little drunk.”
He chuckled. “Just a little?” he said as he steadied her.
She grinned at him and nodded. They went to the carriage that was now waiting for them and road back to Hogwarts. Once they got back, he had a little trouble opening the door. She giggled. “And you called me drunk?”
“I’m not drunk. I’m in perfect control.”
She giggled. “Sure you are. Always the in control Potions bastard.”
He smirked. “I thought you were the smart one, silly girl. It took you THIS long to figure that out. And, you are so drunk now,” he commented as he caught the vase she had run into. “Shh…be quite. We don’t want Daddy Albus being upset that we are home late. We might wake the children.” He actually snickered at this. She made him feel young and practically like a damn teenager.
She laughed. “Come to my place,” she said as she took his hand, practically dragging him up there. They went upstairs to the Hospital Wing. She took the note off the door and made him follow her to the door of her own quarters, not that he was an unwilling participant. “Want some coffee?”
“Is that an invitation to enter?”
“Yes.”
He grinned and followed her inside. She motioned for him to have a seat and soon conjured up some coffee for them. They took a few sips in silence, both beginning to feel a little less drunk than before. She stood up and took off her outer robes and tossed them aside on the chair. She then sat back down, turning toward him. Gods, she wanted him.
He watched her take her outer robes off and swallowed hard, especially when he could tell the faint hint of her nipples through the fabric of the dress. He clutched the coffee mug a little harder. He was actually finding it harder and harder to be in control. He had thought that he had gotten rid of these foolish teenage hormones years ago, but it only seemed like they had lain dormant. He suddenly sat his coffee mug down on the coffee table. “I probably should go. I’ve had a wonderful time.”
She was not quick enough to completely hide her disappointment. “Are you sure?” she asked as she lightly touched his hand.
He felt a shock flow through him as she touched his hand. He stood up. “I’m sure. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
She sighed and stood up, wondering what she had done wrong. She walked with him to the door. “I’ll see you tomorrow then.” She looked up at him.
“Good night, Hermione.” He looked down at her, knowing that it was a mistake. She was so close to him. He leaned down, meaning only to give her a chaste kiss on the cheek. Instead, his lips met hers firmly. She responded immediately as she pressed her lips back against his. The tip of his tongue lightly brushed against her lips, and she opened them for her, allowing him to insert his tongue. She moaned and he placed his arms around her. Her body leaned against him. With this connection, he suddenly pulled away. If he didn’t leave now, then he wouldn’t leave until Monday morning. “Good night.” He then turned, leaving her standing there aroused and confused. He respected her. The few morals he had picked up over the years told him that he couldn’t just take her like some object.
Hermione just stood there for a moment, watching him until he was out of sight. She then slammed the door shut and let out a cry of frustration as she needed him so much. It was driving her practically insane!
Severus was trying not to have a conversation in his mind. The good and evil side of him were battling as he was trying not to run back up there, fling the door open, toss her on the bed, and then proceed to shag her senseless until he had to leave for classes on Monday morning. No, he respected her. He wasn’t just going to take her on the first date. No. Wait. It was the second date. He smirked at the thought. Two datesondeonderful. No, he had to be good. He didn’t even know if she wanted him or not. True, it sure seemed that way, but she was drunk. He didn’t want her when she was drunk. He wanted her facilities to be completely there. Yes, that was what he would wait for. And, you can bloody well shut the hell up, he told his evil side. I\'m not going back up there tonight, he vowed. The key words being \'not tonight.\'
