Epilogue
The wedding had been a small one. Mr. Weasley had given Hermione away, Albus had been the one to officiate over the ceremony, and the Weasley twins had provided the fireworks when they had been declared man and wife. There were of course questions asked of both of them. How was it that they knew each other? Just how long had they been a couple?
The only person she told anything to was Harry. At the wedding rehearsal dinner when most of the guests had left, the two had been able to have time alone.
“I went back,” she told him. “The killing curse hit the time turner and I went back. I fell in love with him.” She took a sip of her pumpkin juice. “But I tell you it’s a miracle I was able to get there never mind back.” She looked over to Alastor who was having a chat with Albus, adoration shining in her amber eyes. “It’s remarkable when you think of it, Harry. It had to hit the time turner just right. And coming back here?” She snorted and looked at him. “If I had been in my right mind, if I had not been so infuriated with him right at that moment, I would have put the time turner on correctly. In other words, I could have been speaking to the likes of Sir Nick right at this moment and not you if not for me doing that.”
“Merlin,” Harry muttered. “But, Hermione, how is he so young? You went back more than sixty years! He had to have aged!”
Alastor came over to them right at that moment. Smiling, she took his hand and stood with him. It was with a subtle knowing grin that she told Harry her good childhood friend, “Good genes.”
