Things Happen

A/N: Here is the next chapter and I hate to say it I am almost done with this story. I was going to just write and epilogue after this chapter, but in the process of writing this one I decided to write one more chapter before writing the epilogue. Thank you so so much to those who have reviewed.

“No, I am not ready yet; I want to see my daughter first.” Hermione cried as she got ready to have her baby.

“I’m sorry Hermione, but I don’t think this baby is going to wait. He or she wants to come very soon.” Madame Pomfrey said while trying to comfort the laboring woman.

Hermione turned away not wanting to acknowledge anyone until her daughter was back in her arms, but she cried out when she was struck by pain in her belly. She didn’t notice the doors to the Hospital wing open and Severus standing there looking scared and unsure of himself.

He rushed to the side of Hermione’s bed and took her hand. “Hermione, Alyson is ok she is with Ginny.”

“She’s really ok? You promise.”

“Yes honey I promise she is safe and sound.”

“Now Miss Granger are you ready to have this baby?” Pomfrey asked

“Yes I think we should bring this baby into the world.”

Severus held onto Hermione while he watched her do the most incredible thing in the world and when he heard the first cries of his new born baby he was also in tears. He watched Madame Pomfrey cast a spell to clean the baby.

Madame Pomfrey looked up at the new parents and smiled “Due to the fact that very few babies have been born here at Hogwarts I am proud to introduce you to your son.” She held him up so his parents could see him and the thing that stood out about him was his full head of jet black hair. Pomfrey handed him to Hermione.

“Hi my son, I am your Mummy.” She said through tears and kissed his head. “Severus look at him he is gorgeous.”

“My son isn’t gorgeous, but he is perfect.” He smiled down at the baby. When Hermione tried to hand him the baby he stepped back with his hands in the air. “No I can’t hold him; he is too small I might hurt him.”

“Severus come here and hold your son.” She laid the baby in his arms and watched him stare in awe at their son.

“He’s absolutely wonderful, wait until Alyson meets him.” Severus held his tiny son in his arms and realized that his world was complete.

“What should we name him?” Hermione asked really unsure about a name for her son because she was convinced that she was going to have a girl.

Severus looked at his new born son and he knew what he wanted to name him. “Gabriel Nathaniel Snape.”

“I love it, Severus.” Hermione took her son into her arms “Hello little Gabe, welcome to the world.”

“Severus, Hermione there is a large crowd congregating outside in the hallway.” Madame Pomfrey called to them.

Hermione looked at Severus who looked like he wanted to go show off his son. Handing the baby back to his daddy “I wanted to ask if we could make Harry and Ginny his godparents?”

He nodded “I would like them to be his godparents also.”

“Thank you Severus, thank you for my daughter and now my son. Thank you for making me so happy.” He leaned down and gave her a kiss on the lips and stood up to show his son off to everyone.


Stepping through the doors he looked at everyone waiting to meet the newest Snape his eyes zeroed in on his daughter who came running up to him.

“Daddy, Daddy do I have a brother or a sister?” She asked trying to stand on her tippy toes to see into the blanket. Snape kneeled down to his daughter’s eye level.

“Alyson meet you baby Brother Gabriel.” Alyson stared at her brother and ran a gentle finger down his soft cheek.

“Hi Gabriel, I’m Alyson and we are going to be best friends.” Alyson kissed her brother’s head and grinned at her dad. “I like him daddy.”

Severus laughed “Well that is good darling cause mummy and I like him also.” He stood up and looked at everyone else; most of the females had tears in their eyes from witnessing Alyson’s exchange with her brother. “Everyone I would like you to be Gabriel Nathaniel Snape.” Walking up to Harry and Ginny he held out the baby to them “Would you like to hold your godson?”

“You actually want me to be godfather to your son?” Harry was shocked that the man who tortured him all through school wanted him to be godfather to his son and Harry realized that Snape wasn’t a bad man after all.

“Yes Hermione and I would be honored if you and Ginny became Gabriel’s godparents.”

Harry took the baby in his arms. “You know Snape it’s a good thing he doesn’t look like you.” Harry grinned “You can’t curse me I have your son in my arms.”

“Yeah you just wait Potter.” Snape mumbled and took his son back into his own arms and saying good bye to everyone he went back to Hermione’s bedside. He laid the sleeping baby in the bassinet and sat on the bed next to Hermione. “I never realized that I was missing something so big from my life until you and our children came into it. I realized that I love you so much and my life would be nothing if you weren’t in it. I want to spend the rest of my life with you as my wife, with our children being happy and healthy. Hermione Jane Granger would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

Tears stained Hermione’s face as she listened to Severus talking from his heart and she could barely get out her one word answer. “Yes”
