Synopsis: This story takes place after my previous story “The Lion and The Serpent”. In this story Harry and Draco are on their way back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry when they are ambushed by Death Eaters, leaving Draco half dead. So distraught over Draco’s possible death Harry wishes he was never born . . . but will his wish actually come true?
Looking around, Harry saw that he was alone once more. He was now able to move his body and open his mouth. But, even though he could speak now, he could find nothing to say. The spirit in Snape’s form had taken him to the present day, and forced him to watch as Neville and Ron made love. The entire Order of the Phoenix was dead, the Weasley Family and even Dumbledore. Everything he had been forced to watch was a torment, and with every sight he saw, his sorrow increased.
But, along with his sorrow, even more questions arose. Everything seemed to be crumbling inside of Harry, as his mind suddenly became stuck on the sight of Draco being murdered. Two of the spirits had told Harry that he could save Draco, but how? They implied he had to be the one to do it but bow? Then, suddenly, the air around Harry froze and the light of his room fade as if the light was being swallowed. Harry whipped out his wand and spun around, to see a dark hooded figure floating in the air behind him.
“EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!”
Harry’s patronus erupted out of his wand, but did not charge. Instead, as Harry watched in pure shock and confusion, it walked up to the dementor as if it was a very old friend and nuzzled it affectionately. The dementor patted its head in return with its rotting-flesh covered hand, and the stag disappeared, leaving Harry completely alone. As soon as it left, Harry noticed that he didn’t hear his mother’s cries, or any of the effects the dementors had on him.
“So you’re another spirit?” Harry asked uneasily.
The spirit said nothing in response to the question, or even nodded it head. Before Harry could say anything else the freezing air and darkness swallowed him whole. Then, with a hard thud, Harry landed somewhere as if he had jumped down from a high ledge and fell forward onto what felt like mud. Harry pushed himself up and fixed his glasses as he looked around, and saw that he was right at the edge of the lake outside of the castle. A flash of green and white light near the castle doors caught Harry’s attention suddenly as he looked around. The spirit pointed towards the light, indicating to Harry that he should go and see.
Harry ran up towards the castle doors only to see, with great shock, himself in heated battle. As Harry ran to confirm what he saw, he saw Voldemort, and what must be his future self locked inside the cage of light. The future Harry was obviously older, at least twenty one years old. His face was almost the same but a bit gaunt, almost like Sirius’ face was when he just came out of Azkaban, and was about 2 to 3 inches taller than he currently was now. The beam of light connecting their wands was glowing brighter and brighter as they both sent all their energy against the other.
A stream of light struck them from behind as the castle doors suddenly opened.
“Harry no!” a woman with very bushy blonde hair called out from behind Harry.
Taking his eyes of Voldemort, Harry turned his neck to see Hermione at the castle steps.
“HERMIONE GO! GET EVERYONE OUT OF HERE!” Harry shouted.
At that moment, Voldemort took advantage of Harry’s distraction. He vanished into thin air in the blink of an eye, making the cage of light disappear. Harry looked around with his wand at the ready, anticipating an attack. With an ear splitting howl of pain, Harry grabbed his scar and keeled over to the ground.
“GET OUT OF ME!!!” Harry shouted, as he forced himself onto his feet once more.
Harry howled once mor he he continued to grab his scar, while he managed to stand. His eyes began to lose all color, becoming as white as unicorn suddenly and with a deep breath Harry shouted:
“MYSTICAL HOGWARTS HEAR MY PLEA; FILL ME WITH YOUR ENERGY!”
A strange blue light began to rise out of the ground under Harry’s feet, and twist around him like a tornado. Harry absorbed all the light into his own body, and suddenly, like and explosion, Voldemort was thrown out of Harry into the air, falling a few feet away.
“IT ENDS TONIGHT VOLDEMORT!!! IT ENDS NOW!!!” Harry called out as the blue aura around him began to intensify.
With a thrust of his wand, Harry shot the light from his body at Voldemort, causing an explosion! When the smoke cleared a large crater was left in the ground, but no sign of Voldemort could be found. He had disappeared once more, just like before. Harry closed his eyes, trying to sense where Voldemort was, knowing that he must be near by since no one could apparate on the Hogwarts grounds. Hermione was still watching nearby, ignoring Harry’s orders, with dread written plainly on her face. Everything around still and quite, as if it was just another night, just like those nights when he was a student. But, Harry knew that none of the serenity was real and that beyond its veil was pure dark and chaotic evil. Then with a great black flash, Voldemort reappeared only inches from Harry’s face and shot him with a great black flame from his wand. Harry tried to block it with his wand, but only a portion of it was deflected, and Harry fell to the ground with his left arm and the left side of his face smoldering as the smell of his burned flesh spread through the air.
“You were right about one thing you stupid boy! NOW IT ENDS!!!” Voldemort announced as he brought his wand up for the kill.
“NO!!!” shouted Hermione as she somehow jumped between them, taking the blast of the Avada Kedavra Curse point black.
“HERMIONE!!!” Harry shouted through his pain as he saw her fall to the ground dead.
Voldemort quickly recovered from his surprise over Hermione’s courageous act and tried once again to kill Harry, but failed yet again. Harry magically jumped into the air as if he was bird, and was quickly covered in the lightning blue aura once more and his eyes were pure white. He focused all of the energy into the bottom of his feet, putting them together and came down with the speed of light, slamming his feet into Voldemort’s chest, leaving him on the ground, with his chest singed from the magical energy. The very winded seemed to have been knocked out of Voldemort as he tried to force himself up, barely able to take breath.
Harry then, raised his wand straight up into the air above his head, but never took his eyes off of Voldemort.
“SPIRITUS ENVALARIE ET TITANNIA PENATRAREA!!!” Harry chanted.
Suddenly, from the air above Harry, all the way up into the sky, strange little orbs of light began to appear and join together above Harry about two feet from the very tip of his wand. The orbs were all different colors, each unique although some just slightly similar, but clearly different. Blue, black, green, red, orange, white, and any other color you could think of, in every shade in between, came together, but as they did a strange whisper or wail could be heard coming from each one as the joined together. Soon the noise was recognizable as the seventeen year old Harry watched, completely awestruck. The sound was clearly made by human voices!
“Hear their voices Voldemort! For they are from the souls who have suffered at your hands!” the future Harry declared.
Now where all the multicolored orbs came together was one huge orb of light the size of small moon, which gave of every color it was made of, just like a rainbow. Some how, Vodemort managed to jump to his feet just as the orb was completed, and with great speed sent it hurtling towards the Dark Lord. As it was coming towards him, Voldemort shot the orb with his wand, making it slow down and stop in mid air. A beam of green light was shooting into the orb from Voldemort’s wand, but it was clearly pushing back, because even though Voldemort refused to fall backwards, his feet, which were firmly planted on the ground, were being forced back, causing huge groves in the ground.
Harry then shot his own spell into the orb, striking it exactly at the other end, trying to help push the orb to its target. But, even with this extra push, the orb was stopped dead in midair, not moving either way. Voldemort’s beam the suddenly intensified in brightness, and with a look of pure horror, Harry saw the orb coming back at him. Quickly he sent out all the energy he could, to try and regain control of the orb as the force began to push him back, as it did to Voldemort, making groves in the ground as he tried to push forward. The souls wailing coming from the orb continued to grow even louder all this time, and as its ear splitting noise grew in volume, so did it grow closer to striking its creator.
In one last attempt to regain control, Harry tried to absorb the magical energy of Hogwarts, intending to use it with his own to push the orb back at its true target but it was too late. The Dark Lord sent out another wave of his energy, making his beam strong. The orb struck the future Harry, swallowing him in a blinding flash of light! When the light finally subsided, all Harry could see at first was gigantic crater in ground, about the size of a football field. With his wand at the ready, Voldemort approached the crater, ready to defend or attack. Harry was already at its edge only to see his future self on ground. It was clear he was dead before Voldemort even went down into the crater to check.
The Dark Lord laughed manically as he walked back up out of the crater, relishing his victory. Then in one great moved he turned to face the castle, and shot a bolt of black lightning in the sky. The sky above the castle was suddenly covered in a giant storm cloud. With great flashes of black light, it rained down more black lightning upon the castle for about ten seconds. When the smoke cleared, the great castle that was Hogwarts was nothing but rubble. Then with another great thrust of his wand, the Dark Lord sent his evil mark into the sky.
Suddenly, a hand touched Harry on his shoulder, and he was instantly in his dormitory again.
“Is that what’s going to happen? Is that my future?!? IS THAT MY DESTINY!?!” Harry shouted, as he grabbed and shook the spirit by its robes.
Harry jumped back at that moment, with a look of pure horror, just like his future self. For when he shook the spirit, its hood fell exposing its entire head. Harry had seen a dementor in his third year and it as not surprised to see that it had no eyes, only empty sockets surrounded by grayish scabbed skin and a toothless mouth. What shocked Harry was that the hideous face staring back at him was his own. His scar stood out plainly on its forehead just as the messy jet-black hair did. Without even a word the spirit vanished like the others before it, leaving Harry alone once more. . .
