AlcyoneBlack-This is a work in progress, so I just put up the warnings that may be coming in the future. Someone will most likely die, I'm sorry if it's dissapointing, but that's kind of my style...I'm not going to say anything about who I am planning on killing but rest easy. It isn't a MAJOR character.

Chapter 10: First day

After their meal they were lead to their House Common Room by their Prefect. They stopped suddenly in front of a stretch of dungeon wall and they were told their password, which was Putus Cruor*. Once they were inside they were told to wait in the Common Room for their head of house to turn up with the room assignments. Harry stood closely to Draco and inspected his new house. He decided that it was cold, not in tempurature, the fire was keeping it plenty warm, but the room itself was impersonal. There were few pictures on the walls, unlike the rest of the castle. There were squishy armchairs scattered throughout the room, and a couple long couches that looked as though they could hold at least 8 people.

The first years waited in a group in the middle of the room while older students milled about, welcomeing each other back and restarting old friendships. As Harry looked around he noticed alot of the students were looking at him curiously, it frightened him. He wished they could all find something else more interesting to look at.

He glanced to his left and Draco was standing there, straight-backed and proud. Draco glanced at him at the same time and gave him a small reassuring smile.

He was just opening his mouth to say something when the door slammed open. The first years all looked up, startled.

"Welcome, and congratulations on being put into Slytherin," Snape said, "I'm Proffesor Snape, Head of Slytherin House and Potions Master. If you have any problems or inquiries just find me. I'll be in my Potions classroom or the Great Hall at all times, except night. You won't need to find me at night because curfew for first years is at 8:00, if you are caught out after that then you will lose House points and probably get a detention. Don't tempt anyone because Slytherin house is often punished by other teachers. The boys room is on the first floor on the way up those stairs," He pointed to the left side of the room, "The girls' room are on the first floor up those stairs," He pointed to the right side, "Now no boys in the girls room and vice versa. Goodnight, and welcome again." And with that Snape swept out the room, his robes billowing greatly behind him.

As the portrait swung shut Harry looked at the other boys in his year. They had started moving towards the staircase that would lead to their room.

"We aren't going to be able to share a bed, Draco." Harry told him sollemnly.

"Why not?" Draco asked seriously.

"Because there will be other boys in our room to. What if they think were weird?" Harry asked.

"I'll make sure they know who is boss around here. If they cross me they will regret it, I can gaurantee that. I'm sleeping in your bed, Harry."

"I don't want the other kids to laugh at me Draco"

It suddenly hit Draco how much it mattered to Harry that people like him. Maybe it was because he spent years without seeing an unfamiliar face? Maybe it was because those damned muggles had treated him so badly in the past? Harry didn't know how to handle situations once it turned to him being ridiculed or looked down on.

"Well..I'll wait for everyone else to go to sleep, then I'll get in your bed. I'll make sure to be gone before everyone gets up, I promise."

Harry wasn't going to disagree with him. It wasn't worth it anyway, Draco always got his way. So instead Harry just shrugged and headed for the staircase.

When he got to the first floor door he opened it and entered. He walked into the room slowly, Draco in tow. He glanced around and seen that three of the five beds were already taken. His heart dropped when he noticed that the two remaining beds were on opposite sides of the room. It had obviously been planned that way because at the foot of every bed were their personal trunks with their names on them. Had it been planned that way for a reason? Harry glanced at Draco and moved forward towards his bed.

The bed was a fourposter and had green hangings that could be pulled shut to conceal who was inside it. The room had a plush dark green carpet that would probably feel great on bare feet, you would sink down in it so it covered the sides of your feet. There was a fireplace tucked neatly into the corner, and it gave the room and eerie glow, but kept it very warm. The stone dungeon walls were flickering with the light of the fire, nicks were shadowed and gave Harry an odd feeling of confinement. Harry wrenched his eyes away and bent down in front of his trunk in search of his black silk pajamas. His skin was so smooth that he could wear silk without it being the least bit uncomfortable. He stood up and walked towards the bathroom, he wasn't changing in front of everybody. What if they seen all his defined muscles, would they think it odd for an eleven year old?

He walked past Draco, who looked livid. Why was his bed so far from Harry's? He was just going to suggest trading someone when their was a sharp knock on the door seconds before it was thrown open. The boy walked in with a handfull of ties and distributed them on their beds. Each student got five silver and green striped ties. The older boy finished dropping them onto the beds and walked away without a single word.

Draco pounced on a thick burly boy named Vincent Crabbe, who's bed was beside Harry's.

"Will you switch me beds?" Draco asked, straining to be polite.

"No." The boy said in gruff tones.

"Why not?" Draco demanded, all politness gone.

The boy didn't say anything, just thrust a note forward.

Draco snatched it away and read it quickly to himself.

"Your trunks are placed at the bottom of your assigned beds. Do not switch beds and share the bathroom accordingly."

"What? Why can't we switch beds?"

"I don't know. But I'm not going to get in trouble so you can sleep next to him." The boy said again. Was there a hint of sarcasm in his voice?

Draco clenched his teeth and turned towards his bed. He grabbed out pajamas and threw them on. He waited for Harry to return from the bathroom and as Harry got into his bed, Draco said goodnight to him. Harry nodded, mumbled a quiet 'Goodnight' and yanked his hangings shut.

****************

Harry felt his mattress dip, and it brought him out of his dreamless sleep. He felt warm arms wrapping around him and he snuggled into them. He felt a gaze and opened one eye while turning on his side to look at Draco, who was behind him.

"What?" he whispered.

"I wonder why our beds are opposite?" Draco mused quietly.

"Maybe your father asked Mr. Snape to do that? You know he doesn't want us sleeping with each other anymore." Harry whispered quietly.

"Maybe we should start calling him 'Proffesor'. And I am going to talk to him about it tommorow."

"Are you sure you should do that?"

"Why would it matter?" Draco asked incredulously. "Now lets sleep."

Draco lowered his lips to Harry's and pressed them down. He loved the way it felt. It felt...great.

As Draco's lips were pressed against Harry's the hangings were suddenly yanked open.

Blaise's vision was assaulted with Harry Potter wrapped in Draco Malfoys little arms, their lips pressed together and their eyes lazily closed. Their eyes snapped open and they pulled apart quickly. Blaise just stood there with wide eyes, he couldn't move.

"What are you doing?" Draco hissed at him sharply.

Blaise shook his head quickly, "What are you doing?"

Draco growled and pulled Blaise within the curtains. He pulled them shut sharply and growled, "Listen here Zabini, Harry and I lived together for four years and we slept in the same bed every night. Coming here and being pulled apart from each other is very hard. I know you probably don't know how it feels to love somebody, but Harry is mine. So get out and keep your mouth shut."

The look in Draco's eyes had been of pure hatred. Zabini wasn't going to talk. He knew enough about the Malfoys to feel very threatened right now.

Blaise glanced at Harry who looked apalled, then terrified. His face suddenly switched to anger, and it matched Draco's perfectly. There was something very weird about these two.

Blaise crawled backwards off of the bed and slipped out from beneath the hangings.

Draco settled back and whispered, "Next time I'll use the silencing charm Dad taught us."

Harry nodded and laid back down. Sleep was not going to come easy that night.

Why had Blaise looked so shocked?

************************

Harry woke up that morning, and true to his word, Draco was not in his bed.

He dressed quickly and sat on his trunk waiting for Draco to hurry up. It always took him so long!

Once he was done they grabbed their book bags and ambled to the door, Draco shooting harsh looks in Blaise's direction.

They walked up the stone steps, trying to remember the way back to the Great Hall. After ten minutes of wandering down the wrong corridor, they turned and found the right way. They entered the Great Hall and walked towards the Slytherin table. Harry felt the gazes land on him as they passed and he hated it. He sped up and took his seat at the breakfast table.

Halfway through their meal Proffesor Snape came and handed everyone time tables. Draco groaned.

"We have double potions last."

Harry raised his eyebrow. "So? That's great."

"With the Gryffindor's." Draco pointed out.

Harry was confused. What had Lucius said about the Gryffindors? Oh ya, they were foolish and annoying. They thought they knew everything.

Draco watched Harry's look and was releived when a look of disgust graced his features.

**************************

They had Transfiguration first with the stern McGonagall woman. She kept giving Harry looks of shock. Harry decided he didn't like her. If she wanted to ask him something she should just ask him, not look at him oddly throughout the entire class. Their next class was Herbology with the Ravenclaws. Their teacher was Professor Sprout, and they got to learn today about simple things. What all the tools in the greenhouse were used for, down to the earmuffs. Then they got to eat lunch, and Harry still had the distinct feeling that everyone was watching his every move. At the end of his meal an older student with sleek brown hair walked up to him.

"This is a letter from Proffesor Dumbledore." She said before walking away.

Harry looked at the letter. The scrawl was tiny and slightly slanted. Harry glanced at Draco and shrugged, opening the letter.

***Dear Harry Potter.

I would like you to come to my office tonight at seven O'clock. Proffesor Snape will pick you up from your common room and lead you to me. Please come alone.

Professor Dumbledore***

Harry handed it to Draco, who read it and looked slightly pissed.

He tossed the letter back and said "Well while your talking to Dumbledore, I can talk to Snape. Time for potions." He said gruffly.

**********

Potions went rather smoothly. In this class they were just going over simple basic properties of potion-brewing. One of the Gryffindor idiots, named Neville Longbottom was looking in a crystal vile containing clear liquid and dropped it. It went smashing to the floor and Snape went on a tirade about how that particular potion takes months to brew and deducted 35 points from Gryffindor, to groans from the Gryffindor's and laughter from the Slytherins. After the class was finished they went down to dinner. Harry ate fast and went down to his common room. He was exhausted from his first long day at school, and he had a feeling that his meeting with the headmaster was not going to leave him any happier.
