“Hello, Miss Turowsky. How are you and the baby?” Albus inquired politely.

“I’m doing pretty good and Aglaia is happy at the moment,” Lialani replied, lifting the child in her arms and supporting her head so she could see Albus.

“Well, isn’t that the cutest thing I’ve seen in the longest time,” Albus said, coming over to play with Aglaia. “Poppy, could you give us a minute?”

Poppy nodded and shut herself in her office. Albus closed the curtains.

“Lialani, I’ve been doing some thinking about your little situation and I happened to come across something interesting in a law book I was glancing through. It’s a law that states that any woman under the age of eighteen to get pregnant by a man over eighteen is allowed to marry him as long as she gets her parent’s permission. Would you marry him?” Albus laid the question out to her and was surprised to see happiness light up her eyes.

“Of course! For Aglaia,” she added swiftly, seeing the surprise in Albus’ eyes.

“Now, I’ll just talk to Professor Snape about it. He’s busy at the moment.”

“Would it have anything to do with the burning I felt in my arm a little while ago?” Lialani gestured to the ice pack fastened to her arm.

“How do you know about that?”

“Know about what? I was rocking Aglaia when my left forearm started to burn really bad. I got an ice pack and it felt better instantly. There’s no mark or anything.”

“Well, you know that Professor Snape is a Death Eater. He was called to a meeting about an hour ago. I don’t know how long the burning lasts so I want you to keep the ice pack on it. Why didn’t Madam Pomfrey do a cooling charm?”

“She doesn’t want any charms or spells on me in my ‘weakened’ state.”

“That makes sense. But I need to ask you a question: why are Aglaia’s eyes green?”

“Professor Snape’s grandmother on his mother’s side has green eyes. Madam Pomfrey said that her genes just skipped a couple generations.”

“They’re beautiful. By the way, even though there’s a chance that you and Professor Snape will wed I still don’t want anyone to know anything just yet. Is that understood?”

Lialani felt guilt rush over her at these words. “Actually, Professor, I did tell one person. But she promised not to tell anyone.”

“Really? Well, I’m not going to yell at you. You just wanted someone to talk to about all this, someone your age. Who did you tell?”

“Hermione.”

“That was a good choice. She would never betray you. But no one else.”

Lialani nodded. “I know, Professor, that’s why I told her. And I have no intention of telling anyone else.”

“Good, child. This is a delightful little girl!” Albus leaned down so his beard was in Aglaia’s face. She gurgled as the softness of it rubbed across her cheek. “What’s her name again?”

“Aglaia. Aglaia Niamh Snape,” Lialani answered, stroking the silky patch of hair on Aglaia’s head. “Professor Snape named her.”

“He did? He even gave her his last name?” Albus was surprised. He hadn’t expected that.

Lialani nodded. Aglaia yawned, stretching her baby arms way out.

“Oh, is mummie’s baby girl sleepy?” Lialani cooed, picking her up. Lialani got up and out her in her crib. She came back to the bed and sat down, tucking her long legs underneath her.

“Is that all you needed, Professor?” she asked.

“How do you plan on your education for the rest of the year?”

“I really don’t know. She can’t come with me because she’ll cry in the middle of class, but I can’t leave her here because I need to feed her.”

“Are you breast-feeding her?”

“Yes.”

“Well, maybe we can find a way to get the breast-milk into bottles and you can leave her here so Madam Pomfrey can feed her.”

“That sounds like a good plan.”

“Yes. I believe there’s a Muggle device that allows you to. I’ll have someone get one for you, okay?”

“That’s great, Professor. Thank you. I really appreciate it.”

“Oh, it’s nothing, child. Just make sure to get plenty of sleep so you are rested up for classes.”

“Wait, Professor. Can I visit Aglaia?”

“Of course, Miss Turowsky. Now it’s lunchtime so you will need to eat and so do I. Would you like to be informed of Professor Snape’s arrival back home?”

“Yes, I would love that. Can I talk to him about the marriage idea?”

“I don’t know if that’s a very good idea. I would rather you just be present when I talk to him about it. Would that be okay?”

Lialani nodded. As long as she was there, she was good.

“I’m going to leave you to your lunch now, Miss Turowsky. I will tell your teachers that you are due back in class on Wednesday.”

“Yes, Professor,” Lialani sighed at the thought of going back to classes. She watched as Albus stood up.

“Dobby will inform you of Professor Snape’s return,” he said. He left then, closing the still-splintered door behind him.

“Madam Pomfrey, how come you haven’t fixed the door yet?” Lialani called, following the swinging motion of one of the splintered boards with her eyes.

“I’m waiting for Professor Snape to do it. He’s going to have to do it without magic. He knows better than to kick open a door,” Poppy replied, coming out of her office with a tray of food.

Lialani giggled at the thought of Professor Snape getting in trouble and doing his punishment.

“Why is that so funny?” Poppy asked, setting the tray down in front of Lialani.

“I just thought it was like Professor Snape doing detention. You know how he loves to give out detentions so it’s kind of ironic that he has one,” Lialani answered, taking a bite of her grilled cheese sandwich.

“That is pretty funny,” Poppy chuckled. “But don’t you have work to catch up on?”

“After I eat, I’ll do it, I promise,” Lialani said, sipping her pumpkin juice.

“Just as long as it gets done,” Poppy began to make a recently vacated bed.

Lialani sorted through the pile of books. Hermione had written the assignment on a piece of parchment and stuck it in with the corresponding book. As each book was examined and she got the bottom of the pile, Lialani was surprised to discover that there was no Potions work.

“Madam Pomfrey, I need to ask one of my fellow classmates a question,” Lialani said, pushing aside the half-eaten plate.

“Alright, I’ll go down and get Miss Granger,” Poppy replied and straightened her apron. “Don’t even think about going anywhere.”

Lialani nodded and leaned back against the pillows. Five minutes later, Poppy was leading Hermione to Lialani’s bedside.

“Hermione, why don’t I have any Potions homework? I know he always gives homework,” she said, gesturing to the lacking yet still daunting pile of books.

Hermione ducked her head and muttered, “He told me not to give it to you. That you had enough stress and you didn’t need anymore work.”

“Give me the assignment,” Lialani demanded. “I refuse to fall behind because he suddenly cares.”

Hermione shook her head reluctantly. “He threatened me with detention until the end of the year if I even thought of giving it to you.”

“Ugh! What an insufferable man! Give it to me and if he asks how I got it I won’t tell him,” Lialani said.

But Hermione shook her head again.

“Fine. I’ll just talk to him when I get back on Wednesday,” Lialani threw her hands up in defeat.

“You’ll be back on Wednesday?” Hermione asked, surprised.

“Yeah. That’s a lot of Potion work to make up.”

Hermione shifted her eyes away guiltily. “I’m going to go down to lunch now, okay?”

“Go ahead. Ain’t nobody stopping you.”

Hermione went to the door. “Hey, how come the door hasn’t been fixed yet?”

“Madam Pomfrey is gonna make Professor Snape do it,” Lialani replied. “He has to do it the Muggle way because he kicked it.”

Hermione laughed. “Why’d he kick it? And when did he?”

“When he was carrying me up here when I went into labor. His hands were full so he kicked open the door. Unfnatenately for him, he broke it and now he’s got to fix it the non-magic way.”

“I gotta go if I plan on eating anything.” Hermione waved and disappeared through the door.

“Aglaia’s awake!” Poppy called.

“Bring her to me,” Lialani called back.

When the baby was in her arms, Lialani leaned back and relaxed.
