~Chapter One: The Beginning~
It was a balmy September first in London. Kings Cross train station was packed.
However there was something interesting happening between platforms nine and ten. Groups of children, teenagers, and their parents were disappearing behind the dividing barrier. Yet no one seemed to notice.
Two teenage boys about fifteen were pushing their trolleys toward the platform barrier. However, the boy’s trolleys were more interesting then the boys themselves appeared to be. Each of their trolleys was laden with large heavy trunks and an owl.
“Where’s Lupin?” The tallest asked. This boy was called Sirius Black; he was only a few inches taller then his friend who was called James Potter.
James turned to Sirius. “Maybe he’s already gone through.”
Sirius sighed. “I guess we should go through too.” He looked at his watch. “It’s only ten thirty. The train won’t leave for another half hour. Do you want to wait out here?”
James looked around. “No. Muggles make me nervous. Besides we’re a bit out of place.” He said with a meaningful look at his trolley.
Sirius looked around and nodded. “I supposes we’ll see him on the train.”
James suddenly smiled and took off when a red haired girl passed them. “Lily Evans.” He sighed.
Sirius sighed. James had been caught up on Lily for almost two years and he still wasn’t tired of her. Sirius, however, had had many girlfriends whom he quickly tired of and dumped.

Sirius and James took the barrier at a run one after another. James and Sirius filed onto their platform, platform nine and three-quarters. Once on the platform they quickly learned where Remus Lupin had been.
“James Sirius ” Remus called excitedly. “I was wondering when you’d get here. We only just arrived mind,”
“We?” Sirius asked. “Are you a royal now?”
Remus chuckled softly. “No, come on I have a compartment for us. There is some one I’d like you to meet.”
“Where’s Peter?” Sirius suddenly blurted out.
“You know Peter Sirius.” James said, “He’ll show up at the last minute like always.
Remus climbed onto the train and slid a door not far from the back open. Sirius felt his heart skip a beat. Sitting inside was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen. She had long wavy locks of black hair that complimented her Mediterranean complexion and Roman features. Sirius soon realized he was gaping at her open mouthed and looked for something to say. Anything. “Is this your girlfriend Remus?” Remus smiled. Sirius felt very lucky that his friend was so good-natured. Because he suddenly felt very foolish.
“No, this isn’t my girlfriend. This is my cousin Isis Lupin.”
Sirius wondered why he hadn’t seen it immediately. They had the same face shape and identical smiles. “It’s nice to meet you Isis.” Sirius said. “Remus hasn’t told us much about you except that you’ve been going to a foreign school.”
“I assure you there is more to me than that.” Isis said with a trademark Lupin smile. “It’s nice to meet you by the way.”
“You’re an American ” Sirius exclaimed. He suddenly went slack jawed again.
“You must be Sirius.” Isis said eyeing him. “Rem told me about you of course.”
“Rem?” Sirius said with a smile playing on his face. “Do you mean Remus?”
Isis smiled, yet she never missed a beat. “I’m an American. I destroy everything including, but not limited to names.”
Everyone laughed.
“Let me see if I can guess who you are.” Isis said smiling playfully while looking at James. “James Potter?” She asked.
He nodded and brightened. “You seem to know us. So tell us a bit about yourself Isis.”
“Myself.” Isis mumbled thinking. “Well I’m an American obviously. I’m from an elf settlement near Philadelphia…”
“You’re an elf?” James interrupted.
“Yes.” Isis answered simply before continuing. “I went to the Liberty School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but decided to transfer when my mother and I moved here…” The light in Isis greenish-brown eyes flickered momentarily. “… after my dad died in May.”
“How’d he die?” James asked curiously.
“The dark powers have a lot of force in the United States. Many dark wizards loathe elves more then muggles. Despite the fact that my father was only a half-elf he was in a position of power and was killed. My mom and I only narrowly escaped. So we came to live with my uncle George Lupin. My dad’s half-brother.”
“My father.” Remus added.
“Half-brothers?” James asked curiously.
“Our grandfather…” Isis stopped she wasn’t sure she wanted to tell this story, but she had already started so she plunged ahead from the beginning. “ My grandmother was an elf. She was odd though because she fell in love with a man, which was restricted in those days. She loved my grandfather despite the fact that he had a wife. My grandmother soon realized she was pregnant with my father, but when she made up her mind to tell him he had just found out that his wife was also expecting.
My grandmother reluctantly told my grandfather what was happening and fled to America. She got married to an elven man who was the member of an affluent family and due to take over the family’s merchant business. Luckily my father and his brother were allowed to grow up together and visit one another’s homes on Christmas and summer holidays.”
“Now Isis and I are like brother and sister.” Remus said.
Isis colored slightly. “Well we are family.”
“Family is very important to elves.” Remus explained.
Sirius nodded and opened his mouth to say something, but at that moment a short plump boy turned up.
“Hullo Peter.” Remus called. “Isis meet Peter Pettigrew. Peter this is my cousin Isis.”
Isis greeted Peter graciously, but formally. It was clear that something about Peter unnerved her.
The train ride seemed to make Isis (if it was possible) even more relaxed. When the witch with the food cart appeared Isis bought some Berttie Botts Every Flavor Beans and pumpkin juice.
Remus had fallen asleep. Isis knew he was exhausted. She’d been with him the night before, the full moon, and saw her benign cousin turn into a particular fierce werewolf. She made a pile of his favorite flavors and wrapped them in a silver scarf. Then she pulled a piece of parchment and wrote Remus’s name clearly and magically attached it to the scarf.
“What did you’re father do?” James asked once everyone finished lunch. (Except Remus.)
“Er… I’m not sure I should say.” Isis sighed deeply, but wanted to answer the expectant faces. “My father was the elf king.”
Even Sirius’s face snapped up. “That would make you…”
“A princess.” Isis finished.
