\"Draco. Come here.\" Lucius commanded his son.

\"Yes, father?\" Draco asked as he made his way over to Lucius\' side.

Lucius sat in an imposing armchair in the middle of the Malfoy estate\'s living room. \"Your report scroll states that you are doing well.\" Draco smirked in a superior manner. Until his father continued. \"Except for your Potions grade.\"

\"But, father, I\'m passing the class.\" Draco whined, then winced as he realized his mistake.

\"Passing? Passing?\" His father\'s complection turned a slight red color. \"I did not say passing was exceptable. A mere \'Acceptable\' grade is not acceptable for a Malfoy of your expected caleber.\"

Draco flinched at the insult his father had delt him.

\"Why have you not been trying harder, Draco?\" Lucius inquired. \"Do you not like Potions any longer?\" His gray eyes narrowed. \"Is it trouble with the Professer?\" At his son\'s lack of reaction he guessed. \"Or are you being distracted by something?\"

Draco flushed and shifted uncomfortably.

\"What on Earth could distract my son to the point of an A?\" His face took on a pensive expression. \"Could it be an interest, perhaps?\"

Draco started to fidgit and pick at the appolstry of the chair he was seated in.

\"But what kind of interest would distract my son so?\" Lucius was watching Draco closly for any signs of discomfort, signalling that he was correct. \"A jealousy? Surly not, Malfoy\'s are jealous of no one. A passing fancy? No? Well, then it must be some one that you lust after.\" Lucius pretended to think very hard about the possibliities. \"The Granger girl? No. Too bookish. The younger Weasly? No. Too low bred. So that would leave... Potter.\"

Draco blushed furriously in reaction to the mention of the other boy.

\"Draco, really, I expected better of your choices in possible partners.\"

The boy\'s entire face turned a bright shade of red.

\"But of course, you do know that nothing meaningful can come of it.\"

The already red face got even redder.

\"You may take him as a lover if you wish...\" Draco\'s face brightened momentarily, until his father continued. \"But it shall not bcome public knowledge. Nor shall anything long lasting come from it. Right, Draco?\"

\"Y-yes, of course, father.\" His son\'s face had a slightly heart broken look on it before he threw up the famous Malfoy mask of sneering indiference.

\"Very good. I expected no less in your grasp of the situation. I will discuss your grades with your professer tomorrow. If your grades do not improve or continue to decline I shall have you transfered.\" His son\'s gray blue eyes shot to his in supprised fright. \"Do we have an understanding?\"

Draco nodded, his shoulders slumped slightly in defeat.

\"You are dismissed.\"

Lucius waited untill his son had left the room, closing the door, befroe he let his head into his hands. \"I just hope you forgive me later, my son.\" He whispered to the empty room. \"I don\'t want your hopes to get crushed like mine did. It just can\'t happen. We are Malfoys. More is accpected of us than just being ourselves. I wish it could be different.\"
