The Lost Years
Chapter 1: Good news
Lily Potter walked into her house with a big smile plastered across her face. She walked around looking for her husband. She walked up to the stairs to the bed room. James wasn't there.
"Lily?" James called from downstairs.
"James!" Lily ran downstairs i the the lounge room where she saw James dusting off his robes.
"Hey," James smiled.
"Hi." Lily gave him a big hug and a passionate kiss.
"What was that for?" James asked.
"I've got some really really good news," Lily said excitedly.
"What is it?"
"I'm pregnant!" Lily squealed.
"Really?" James eyes nearly popped out of his head. Lily just nodded. "Yes!" James wrapped his arms around his wife and picked her up. "How far along are you?"
"Oh, I don't know yet. I'll find out when I go back to the doctors."
"Good."
"We have to invite the guys over," Lily said.
"Yeah, you go and do that." James patted Lily's back. "I'm going to go and have a bath." James kissed Lily's forehead and walked up to the bathroom. Lily walked over to lit little desk and began to write some notes.
Dear Sirius
James and I would like to invite you over for dinner tonight. Please do come.
Love Lily.
Lily folded the letter and continued writing a few more.
*****
Lily and James walked around the house preparing for their dinner.
"How do you think the guys will take it?" James asked.
"Well Sirius I don't know. He would probably take that as a good reason to get drunk." James snorted. "Remus will be fine about it, I know that. But it might be a little sad for him because he can't have a child with him being werewolf and all." James just nodded in agreement. "Peter would probably just be happy and all my friends will be fine about it."
"Your friends are just so normal aren't they?" James asked sarcastically.
"Yes Mr. Potter they are. See I have good taste." Lily smirked.
"Well so do I. I wanted to marry you." James slipped his arms around lily's waist.
"Now that was extremely good taste." Lily put her lips to James' and they both kissed passionately till they heard their doorbell ring.
"Just a little bit longer?" James groaned.
"Nope." Lily pulledy fry from him and walked over to the door. "Are you coming James?" Lily asked.
"Yep." James walked up to her side. Lily opened the door to see Sirius, Remus and Peter.
"Hello," they all greeted.
"Hey guys." Lily stepped aside. "Come in."
"Thanks," R smi smiled. They walked into the house. Lily closed the door behind them and led them over to the dinning table.
"You guys sit on that side." Lily pointed over to 3 seats in a row.
"Okies." Sirius sat him self down in the middle. Remus and Peter on each side. The door bell rang again.
"I'll get it." Lily walked over to the door and opened it. There stood 2 of her best friends Jane and Danni. "Hey!" Lily gave each of them a hug.
"Hey ya Lils," Jane smiled.
"Come on." Lily pulled both of the girls into the house. "Sirius, Remus and Peter are here."
"Oh not Sirius," Danni sighed.
"Sorry Dan, I know you don't like him but he seems really fond of you," Lily chuckled.
"Yeah really fond." Jane laughed. "Remember the time when he tried to do you while you were standing?"
"Please I try not to remember that." Danni shook her head in disgust. The three girls walked in to the dinning room only two raging with laughter. The four men looked at them.
"What so funny?" Sirius asked.
"You don't want to know." Jane took in a deep breath trying to calm down.
"OK."
"Girls you sit here." Lily pointed to the last 2 chairser ter then hers that were left.
"Hello Danni," Sirius grinned.
"Hello Bl" Da" Danni spat.
"Ooooh you don't like me now?" Sirius frowned.
"I never did." Danni said as she sat down. James laughed at Sirius.
"You've lost your touch mate." James whacked Sirius' back. Everyone then sat down at the table.
"May I ask what this occasion is about?" Remus asked. Lily looked at James.
"I don't know if we should tell you yet," Lily smiled. Jane broke out in to a squeal.
"I know I know I know!ne jne jumped in her seat.
"Shhh!" James hissed. Jane just kept smiling. "I guess we can now."
"Ok." Lily took in a deep breath. "James and I are going to have a baby."
"I knew it!" Jane jumped.
"Congratulations." Remus stood up and gave both Lily and James a hug. Everyone else followed.
"Yeah congrats," Sirius added. "Ooh this is so a time for drinking." Sirius poured himself a glass of fire whisky. Lily rolled her eyes.
"Congratulations you two," Peters little voice sounded.
"Thanks Pete." Lily winked.
"Come here." Danni gave Lily a hug.
"Thanks," Lily smiled.
"Here, me too." Jane gave Lily a hug.
"You cheeky devil you." Sirius punched James' shoulder.
"Thanks Padfoot."
"No problems." Sirius sat down again. Lily looked over to Remus and saw that he looked a little sad.
"Remus come and help me with dinner." Lily pulled him over to the kitchen. Lily closed the kitchen door behind them. Remus looked confused. "Are you ok Remus?" Lily asked.
"Yes I am absolutely fine," Remus nodded.
"Don't lie to me Remus. I can tell when there's something wrong." Lily rested her hand on her hip.
"Alright. I'm just having a few problems at work and with Anna," Remus sighed.
"I'm sorry Remus." Lily frowned. "If you want anything at all you can come to me you know."
"Yeah I know but if I ran to you with all my problems I would practically be living with you," Remus said.
"I'm sure James and I wouldn't mind having you here," Lily smiled. "Although I don't think you would want to stay here. I heard that pregnant women are fierce," Lily joked.
"So did I," Remus chuckled. "Shall we get the food now?"
"Oh yes I forgot." Lily handed him two plates and took two herself. They both walked back in to the dinning room and put the plates down at the table.
"Oooo meat," Sirius drooled.
"Padfoot mate. Maybe you would want to stop with the drooling. You might be turning everyone off," James roared. The girls laughed.
"Come on Prongs, you're cramping my style." Sirius nodded over to Lily's friends.
"Like you have any left," James snorted.
"I assure you Prongs that I have plenty when I am sober," Sirius burped. Lily and Remus came back with the last plates of food.
"How about a toast?" Sirius raised his glass. The others raised their glasses tooo tho the kid that's in Lily's belly."
"How about to the baby?" Danni suggested.
"Yes that is a little better," Lily agreed.
"To the baby!" They all said together. Lily drank her glass of water as everyone else drank their whisky. Sirius immediately began to dig in to his food.
*****
It was now very past midnight and Lily had begun to get tired. Everyone else seemed as though nothing could get them down, but Sirius and Peter.
"Come on Padfoot maybe you should stay over here tonight," James suggested to the overly drunk Sirius Black.
"Ok," Sirius replied drunkenly. Lily watched as James took Sirius upstairs.
"Always the party wreck Dan Danni sighed.
"Don't worry about it. He was funny. Made me laugh heaps." Lily chuckled.
"Ok then, anyway I better get home," Danni gave Lily another hug. "Take care and I'll see you later."
"I will. I'll see you soon yeah?"
"Of course," Danni nodded. "Bye now." Danni walked out of the front door.
"Bye," Lily waved after her. Lily closed the door and walked back in to the dinning room to see Remus have a good chat with Jane. "I'll leave you two to talk, ok? I'm off to bed."
"Oh no," Jane stood up. "Remus and I will go over to my house."
"What ever you want to do," Lily smiled. "I'll see you two later." Lily gave them both a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks for coming."
"My pleasure," Remus smiled.
"Mine too," Jane added.

"No, don't worry about it. You go to sleep we can see ourselves out." Remus patted Lily's arm and walked over to the front door.
"Ok, bye," Lily waved.
"Bye." Remus and Jane said as they walked out of the house. Lily yawned again and walked upstairs to her bed room. She began to undress and change in to a light night dress. James walked into the room.
"Padfoot’s breath is going to stink up that room." James began to pull off his jumper.
"Hs breath already stunk up the house," Lily laughed as she slid herself under the bed sheets.
"You are right there." James got in next to her. "Are you as tired as I am?"
"Well do you think that once your head hits the pillow that you'll fall asleep?" Lily asked.
"Yes," James nodded.
"Then I'm as tired as you are."
"Good." James placed his head down on to the pillow. "Not asleep yet but I feel like it."
"Same here," Lilly chuckled softly. James reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"I can't believe that we're going to be parents," James whispered.
"Neither can I," Lily smiled.
"Love you." James kissed her forehead
"And I love you," Lily whispered softly. Then they both fell asleep.
