To me this is a very believable scenario. Of course Snape would be devastated by killing his mentor and only real friend, and he had no one to turn to except the Dark Lord and other Death Eaters, none of whom he could confide his loss to. So sad and heartrending. It is a loving and generous Hermione who will connect him to the world again now that Dumbledore is gone. Lovely one-shot.
