Lost Memories
Chapter 1
You are cordially invited to
witness the union between
Hermione Granger
and
Severus Snape
As they will be promised to each other in
marriage.
Thirtieth of December, of This Year
Two o’clock at Hogwarts
Harry had just read the
invitation and cringed. He knew
Hermione had been seeing Snape since the summer they left Hogwarts, but he had
seriously hoped beyond hope that she would come to her senses and leave the old
bat.
“Crack!” Ron Apparated and was standing next to
Harry.
“So you know?” snapped Ron. Harry raised his scroll, confirming Ron’s
words. “I can’t believe she is going to
marry him – Snape! Of all the lousy
wizards out there, why Snape?”
“Ron, she has been dating him
for three years. Her decision has been
made.” Ron was seething. He had always felt the right wizard for her
was none other than him. His ears
turned as red as his hair and he began to pace the floor.
Harry just shook his
head. He agreed Hermione could do
better, but it was her decision. He was
worried about her because Snape had always been unusually cruel to her and now
she was going to marry him. Silently,
Harry wondered if Snape had used his powers to persuade her into loving him,
but he shook his head at that idea.
Hermione was too smart, too powerful to allow that to happen.
“Ron, it’s over. Let it go,” said Harry sternly. “In two months, we are going to attend the
wedding, smile, and show Hermione our support.”
“Like hell I will,” snapped
Ron. Harry glared at Ron until he gave
in. “Okay, I’ll be there, but I won’t
be smiling,” hissed Ron.
“Fair enough. Let’s go.
Our class begins in five minutes.”
They both Apparated to their class at the University.
~*~*~*~*~
Draco Malfoy was in his
potion’s class at the University also.
Ironically, one of his classmates was Hermione Granger. She had been a thorn in his side from the
day he became acquainted with her and now she, a mudblood, was engagedone one
of the most powerful, pureblood wizards of his time. He shook his head as an evil grin took over his face. This mudblood not only was going to ruin the
name of Snape, but she was also proving her intelligence far outweighed the
intelligence of the purebloods at the University and Draco was not going to let
this happen. He had been planning a way
to get rid of her for a long time and his plan was finally ready.
The class was brewing a
memory potion that required precision timing when adding ingredients, so
needless to say, Hermione had every ingredient lined up, ready to add it when
the time came. She reached for the next
ingredient and added it, watching her cauldron simmer the blue vapor,
indicating she had done a flawless job.
She did not notice Draco take his wand and switch the order of her
ingredients.
Reaching for the next
ingredient, she added it while glancing at Draco. “Bye bye mudblood,” his hissed as the ingredient dropped form her
fingers.
Instantly, her potion blew
up, engulfing her in the liquid while the vapors filled her lungs. When the professor cleaned the room with a
flick of his wand, the students were shocked to see an unconscious Hermione
lying on the floor.
~*~*~*~*~
It had been a week since the
accident and Hermione was still unconscious as she lay in her hospital bed at
St. Mungo’s hospitalevereverus was
holding a vigil by her bed, not leaving her side once, except to speak to the
Mediwitch. He spent his time talking to
her, reading her favorite books to her, and pleading for her to come back to
him. He placed her favorite spells on
her hair so it was not frizzy, just the way she liked it. Severus Snape had given his heart to her and
if one were to take a good look at him, it looked as though he were dying
without her. When Ron and Harry or other
people were there to visit, he would ignore them. All he would do was hold her hand and whisper in her ear, hoping
she would wake up.
Ron and Harry were there
every minute they were not in class.
The men scowled at each other, but remained silent. Their only words were words of encouragement
to Hermione. Ron and Harry also missed
their best friend. They were attending
the University together, but taking different classes. Ron and Harry shared a dorm room on campus
and Hermione would Apparate to the campus from Hogwarts each day since she was
living with Severus.
The Mediwitch walked in,
“Professor Snape, may I have a word with you?”
Severus nodded. He placed a
gentle kiss on Hermione’s lips and then stood up to follow the witch out of the
room.
Ron began to open his mouth,
but Harry shook his head. “Hermione
needs to hear positive words Ron.”
“Oh, I’m positive that Snape
is a - ” but the look on Harry’s face told Ron to shut up.
Both turned to look back at
their friend when they were shocked to see her looking up at them.
“Hermione?” said Harry
softly, not believing what he was seeing.
She blinked her eyes, looking at him.
“Hermione!” hied.ied.
“Oh Hermione! You had us so bloody scared!” yelled Ron.
Hermione cringed. She was looking around the room to find
figure out where she was, but nothing looked familiar. She saw the two men jumping up and down, but
couldn’t figure out why.
“Where am I?” she
whispered. She had no voice from being
unconscious.
“You are at St. Mungo’s
hospital. There was an accident in your
potion’s class at the University and you have been unconscious for a week,”
explained Harry.
She looked at him curiously
and asked, “Who are you?”
The expression on Harry and
Ron’s face was identical to the blank expressions on Crabbe and Goyle’s. “Hermione, it’s us, Harry and Ron,” answered
Ron.
“I’m sorry, but I do not
believe we have met.”
The door opened and in walked
Severus and the Mediwitch. Severus
looked down at Hermione and realized she was awake. Without wasting a second, he went to her side, placed his hands
on the sides of her face and kissed her.
Clearly his behavior was part of the normal occurrences between him and
Hermione, except that this time she quickly pulled back, out of his embrace.
“What are you doing?” she
cried, her voice returning and her eyes showing her fear. “Who are you? Who are all of you?”
