Security Cameras

A New Start

Minerva Mcgonagall was worried. Even though she had been stated Headmistress over Hogwarts, something was not right. She was already stressed out over finding new teachers for everything. Hardest of all was librarian, for Madam Pince had had an heart attack over the war and was having a serious stroke and lying in bed at St Mungo's. So many students had returned, wanting to make up for the disrupted year. Finally, she had gotten in touch with her favorite student. Hermione granger was coming back to Hogwarts, thank goodness. Hermione was only too happy to have her own room in the library. And she was also the only one who knew about the security cameras.

It happened when the Professor was showing Hermione her room, behind a fake cupboard. There was -not a password- but a key for her, as after the war Hermione had become a little paranoid or other people. Who could blame her when Bellatrix Crucioed her? So she was looking at the new arrivals when she was readching for a book and saw the little camera. 

"What is that?" She asked mostly out of curiosity. Hermione tried to unhook it, but it stayed firmly in place. "Oh my goodness, is that camera?" Turning around to fix the Professor with an accusing look, but nevertheless friendly. "Why, Minerva, why would you put security cameras around the whole place? I mean like, you've got the whole place under control!" Minerva blushed and said: "well, some Ex-Death-Eaters are coming back so I just wanted to ... well, keep an eye on them. Of course, they will only turn on if the wards are broken, dark magic is being shown or after curfew." But Hermione was horrifyed, not listening to the end part.

"Even Malfoy?" 

"Yes. Even Malfoy."

"And Nott and Crabbe and Golye and all of them?"

"Yes Hermione, I don't see why you are getting so worked up. We have everything" - She gestured to the library around then - "even security camera's as you astutely put."

"But-but, I don't know how I'll be able to live with them! It's that..." Hermione's voice quavered. The secret that she held deep down was unraveling: when she was taken hostage at Malfoy Manor, the men have ripped open her robes and raped her, a former virgin. She would never, ever be able to forgive them, not with their leering smiles or jeering voices. The scenes that appeared every night in her dreams, no, she couldn't tell them.

So she just said "I just don't feel safe around them."

"Don't worry Hermione, you'll be fine." But Minerva was worried. Hermione was always so strong and brave. To see her like this was very rare (unless an exam was coming up) and it stressed her out even more. Who knew that running a school could be so taxing?
