Prologue

She had spent the last six years besting everyone – in everything - to get this year, to this position. She had even managed to beat Draco Malfoy, the smartest slitherin. And here she was in the common room of the Head Dormitory, as Head Girl. The Head Boy had yet to show up so she was still unsure of whom she’d be rooming with for the next year – her last year in Hogwarts.

She had been sitting in front of the fireplace, lost in her thoughts, when a harsh, cold voice spoke to her. “Should’ve expected it would be the know-it-all mudblood who was chosen to be the Head Girl.” He said with a laugh that held no humor.

She jumped from her spot, startled to reality. “Malfoy. What are you doing here?!”, she stated with contempt in her voice.

“Isn’t it obvious?  I AM HEAD BOY,” he answered enunciating each word to her like she was a child who should have already figured this out for herself.

“You? But – but…”

“Speechless that you get the honor of living with möi all year?”, he closed the space between them in two steps. His eyes were stone, face void of emotion. His body was pressing as close as he could to her.

She closed her eyes in an attempt to not to allow him to see her fear, but it was too late. He could smell it on her. It was emanating off her skin. He wound his pale hand around her chestnut curls, pulling them gently to raise her head. He looked deep into her eyes relishing in her fear that he was creating. He smiled and crashed his lips onto hers. She shrieked in surprise not expecting the kiss. She could feel his erection pressing against her leg.  She began to punch at his chest trying to get him to let her go.

He moved his kisses -more gently this time- to her neck he whispered to her, “this is going to be fun, isn’t it?”. When she opened her eyes, he was gone.

She slid to the floor with her head on her knees, tears spilling down her face.

What is the rest of the year going to be like if he like this? Should I tell someone what happened? Harry maybe? Oh, Gods no they’d never believe me!’

Harry found her sleeping, curled up on the floor in her common room the next morning. "Hermione! What are you doing on the floor?"

“I – I – uh” she stuttered to think of a lie, she had never been a very good liar, “I fell asleep while looking at the fire, Harry. I didn’t mean to sleep here all night.” She said with a smile that faded as soon as she was sure he believed her.

“OK, well it’s time for breakfast, so go get ready.” Harry said holding his hand out to help her up.

She was ready in just a few minutes and they were headed down to join the rest of their classmates in the Great Hall. When they arrived at breakfast they sat next to Ron and Ginny who both smiled at them as if they hadn’t seen them in years. She and Ginny began to mindlessly chat about the summer they had and Ron gorged himself on food, while Harry read the Daily Prophet. All seemed normal.

He watched her intently from across his cauldron. She was acting as if she knew everything – as usual. Her potion was perfect, thus far. He even noticed that she had the most perfect smile about her face. All he wanted to do was kiss those beautiful lips, hard, make them bleed, make her squirm and cry out in pain. He loved to see the fear he caused in her eyes, knowing she couldn’t run. He felt his erection begin to make his pants feel tight but he quickly thought of other things when Professor Snape came up behind him and slapped him in the head with a huge book. Draco could not wait to get her alone again.
