Dance Magic Dance
The bubble formed slowly. Out of nowhere it would seem, and with a life of its own. The strange magic glistened under the iridescent light of the stalagmites that studded the underground chamber. It grew from the dusty remains of a magical creature; for magic never dies it is simply reborn.
The orb lifted itself to be in the center of the chamber then began to circle it, as if searching for something. It saw an odd clock on the wall with numbers and hands that made no sense. It saw a pit with stairs all around. At that moment the clock that was stuck at 13 began to tick, filling the chamber with sound for the first time in a long time.
The bubble pulsed its own light, a spirit or life if you will. It shone brightly to reveal the room for what it was, a place for a king, a throne room. The little light zipped around looking for something, anything to make ends of where it was and what it was doing here. Just then, a surge of power pushed the little bubble forward like a strong wind. Walls rushed past it as it was forced through cobwebs, dust and small stunted skeletons. Through tunnels, doors, twists and turns until it stopped. It was dark but no longer was the orb in the cavern, but where then?
The orb now lifted itself higher, confused and now conscience that it was a living thing. The same surge of power again struck at the core of the bubble igniting it. Sparks flew from the orb and down below cutting into the darkness. The area burst with light and came alive much like the orb that shone as bright as the full moon in the sky. Creatures awoke from their slumber with a great commotion and the sounds of buzzing creatures filled the once still air. The sky itself turned dark indigo blue from the once pitch black.
The orb looked down at the commotion for the first time. Memories and moving pictures flashed back and electricity crackled around it as the spectators below watched. Images projected off its glistening surface. A bearded man with a staff guiding a young man to a sword in a stone. Then to a dragon flying over snowy mountains. It showed unicorns grazing in a field and centaurs galloping through a forest. The images slowed down to a blond man in an open poets shirt. It showed him ruling the creatures in the realm it was in. The man gathered unwanted children and transformed them to live as goblins in this world. The orb then dimmed showing the passing of time, a girl saving her brother from this man. Then the feeling of defeat, next heartbreak and loss. It showed this goblin king wither away to nothingness as his realm faded to black.
The bubble shuddered in sorrow as it began to change, the magic swirling and transforming into the shape of the goblin king. He glimmered with transparency as his flesh was no more. He gazed upon his maze that pulsed with need and power. It cried out for a new king of magic, blood and bone. Jareth had no power here. A crystal ball formed in his beckoning hand.
“Go.” He whispered almost in a song. It disappeared with a pop as a sad smile graced his lips.
Hundreds of miles above ground in a castle. There is a common room decorated with silvers and greens. Just before the sun broke the night, a peach manifested itself on a nightstand by a hawthorn wood stick.
