Chapter 1

Hi, this is a small AN for those who have not read this before. I am writing this for an author on FF.net. But, I decided to post it here too. I hope that you enjoy it as much as my readers on FF.net have. This is the first chapter to my new story. It is for 'njferrel' who voted for a pairing of Viktor/Harry in my latest poll. Complete credit of the basic plot line goes to 'njferrel'. I hope that everyone likes it. This is my first Viktor/Harry pairing. But, it's also one of my favorite pairings. Alright, please enjoy and let me know how it is.

Viktor Krum walked through the streets of Diagon Alley holding his list of supplies in front of his face. Ana Krum, only two steps in front of her fourteen year old son, lead the way to Flourish & Blotts. "The Standard Book of Spells Grade Four by Miranda Goshawk, Extensive Transfiguration by Emeric Switch, The Deep of The Dark by Ingred Kinshawlt, Magical Creatures and Their Habitats by Morgana Jenks, and Intermediate Potions Making by Libatius Borage." A thick bulgarian accent inlaced with the boys voice as he spoke to his mother. Ana nodded with a 'hmm' before continuing the trek to the well known book shop.

The bell above the door rang as the two entered the shop. Immediately a young witch was in front of Ana and Viktor with an overly large smile across her features. "Hello there, I'm Margo, is there anything that I can help you with?" Ana took the list of supplies from her son and pointed out the needed items to the woman. As the two walked off Viktor looked around the shop for anything of interest. While the other books were needed he wanted something else to read for fun.

Slowly, he walked around the shop eyes open for anything interesting. He was busy looking at a book, Transcending Time: Time-Turning On A Dime by Karofski Mellgent, when the bell above the entrance rang once more. He quickly glanced to the door before looking back down at the book in his hands. It only took a moment before he looked up to the door once more, not sure of what he had seen in that glance. Sure enough, a boy who looked to be nine stood in the doorway of the shop. He was about a foot shorter than himself, with pitch black hair and shinning green eyes that were covered by ugly round glasses. The boys clothes looked to be at least three times too big on him if not bigger.

Immediately, Viktor could tell that something was wrong with the boy. His eyes constantly shot from the moving covers of the books to the posters on the walls to the witches and wizards standing around the shop, as if he had never seen anything magical before. That's when it clicked. The boy was a muggleborn and looked like he was in need of serious help. Viktor sighed and placed down the book that he was holding before walking over to the shorter boy. Green eyes only noticed him when he stopped in front of the shorter boy. "Hello there," Viktor spoke, his accent thick, holding out a hand to the boy, "My name is Viktor Krum. You look like you could use some assistance."

The younger boy looked at the taller carefully before warily taking his hand. "I'm Harry," Harry hmm? Viktor thought. "Harry Potter." If Viktor hadn't been raised better his jaw would have dropped.

Harry watched as the boy continued to shake his hand for a moment to long. He almost groaned, here it comes, he thought. All morning people had been praising him for something he did when he was only a year old. In all honesty, it was already starting to get annoying. Yeah, he killed some guy with weird ideals about killing muggles and half-bloods, so what? At least that was how he saw it. Finally, Viktor let go of his hand.

"Oh, I was sure that you were a muggleborn the way that you were looking around. Guess you didn't need help after all." Viktor said with a small embarrassed grin at the mistake he made. Noticing the nervous expression that crossed the boys face, Viktor spoke once more. "Is something the matter?"

"I could actually use a bit of help." Harry said uncertain of the reaction that was going to come from the older boy. "My muggle aunt and uncle raised me and kinda didn't tell me about my real heritage." Viktor forced down the frown that threatened to come out and smiled a bit tensely.

"So, you have no knowledge of the wizarding world at all?" Viktor questioned with a risen eyebrow. Harry nodded before speaking.

"Only that I'm a wizard, my parents were murdered by a raving lunatic, and that I'm going to a school called Hogwart's, ran by some guy named Albus Dumbledore." Harry nodded as he counted out the list of things he knew on one hand.

Viktor had to hide the anger that suddenly flowed through him. "Well, why don't we start with your book list?" He suggested and Harry handed him his list of supplies. Viktor scanned the list quickly before rising an eyebrow. "Hmm, this isn't like my first year list was..." He pondered on this before speaking again. "Let's go find my mother, she'll know why and what to do." Harry didn't even have time to voice his approval before he was being dragged through the many shelves of books.

"Mother!" Ana turned as she heard her sons voice. She turned to find Viktor walking towards her with another boy in tow. He looked to be about nine years old.

"Yes, Viktor?" Her accent was even thicker than her sons, Harry noticed.

"Mother, this is Harry Potter," His mothers eyebrows shot up under her bangs, "Harry, this is my mother, Ana Krum." Ana watched as Harry held out his hand to her.

"It's nice to meet you Mrs. Krum." Harry said with a softened voice and a small smile that Ana found adorable. She took the boys hand and shook it.

"It's wonderful to meet you as well, Mr. Potter." The boys eyes darkened for a moment before returning to normal.

"Please, just Harry, ma'am." Ana nodded and the boy smiled once more. She then, turned to her son who was waiting patiently for the exchange to finish.

"Now, what was it that you needed Viktor?" Her son held up what looked like another list of school supplies.

"I wanted to know why Harry's list of supplies is different than how mine was." Viktor stated looking curiously at his mother. Ana looked down at the list in her hands and scanned it over. A strange looked crossed her features before she cleared her throat.

"It's because, the United Kingdom Ministry banned any use of dark magic in the United Kingdom Schools. " Ana spoke softly as to not be heard. Viktor looked a bit confused. Just because, one lunatic went throwing around a few dark curses the Ministry thought it best to ban dark magic? That didn't make any sense. "Let's help your new friend find his regular school books and then we will get him a few extra." The tight smile across her face was the only sign that she was worried.

Thirty minutes later Harry and Viktor were walking towards the apothecary. Over the last thirty minutes Viktor had informed Harry about what he knew of Hogwarts and about his own school, Durmstrang Institute for Magical Learning. After they had finished finding Harry his school books, the Krums bought him some extra books that they wanted him to read in the month before school started. The Darkness Below by Herold Grenkle, What to Watch Out for in The Magical World by Jenna Brown, Jennings Book of Distant Learning by Lemont Jennings, Potions and WhatNot by Levine Ingle and Hogwarts: Way Back When by Karole Marquie were the ones they had deemed necessary.

Harry had asked about Hogwarts: A History but, Viktor had said that Hogwarts: Way Back When was much more in formative. Hogwarts: A History was the shortened version, without all of the dark arts. Harry had nodded and went to look at something that caught his eye. Now, Viktor opened the door to the apothecary letting Harry and Ana walk in before him. After a thank you from Harry, Viktor led him over to a section on starter potions kits.

"What you'll need is the intermediate potions kit instead of the beginner. It has all the same things except for some extra ingrediants." Harry nodded before choosing one with green handled knives and measuring utensils. Viktor nodded in approval before walking over to the special cauldrons that only the apothecary sold. "They want you to have a standard two pewter cauldron but, it isn't the best for properly cooking the potions. You should have a silver ingraved Marx cauldron. It has silver ingraved into the copper that the cauldron is made of. Silver helps preserve the potion if you can't get to it immediately. Basically, meaning that if you leave the potion on a little too long, it won't blow up or ruin."

Harry picked up the medium sized cauldron that Viktor had pointed out. "Is that it from this store?" Viktor took a glance around before nodding. After paying for the items and having them shrunk into the bag that Harry was carrying they walked out of the store.

"Have you gotten your wand yet?" Viktor asked with a questioning look and Harry shook his head no. "Alright then, that will be next. Now, they don't tell the first years that you should have a wand holster but, you should. The ones they have are for your forearm, chest, and calve. I suggest one for your forearm. Much easier to use." Another nod from Harry showed that he was listening.

Viktor pulled Harry into Olivander's. A moment later a man with graying hair appeared from one of the rows of wands. "Well, if it isn't Harry Potter..." The man whispered almost to himself before noticing Viktor. "And, Mr. Krum. So, who is getting a wand?" Viktor pushed Harry forward and the man smiled.

"Harry is Mr. Olivander." Olivander nodded and walked around the counter pulling out a tape measure.

"Arms out please." Harry spread out his arms as Olivander measured the length of his arms and various other things. Olivander seemed to finish as he hummed and walked back down one of the rows of wands.

Harry sighed as another wand exploded in his hand but, not before another vase that sat on the mantle above the fireplace shattered. Olivander had a sheen of sweat on his forehead and a dead pan look across his face. "Not cherry then." Viktor walked up to the man.

"Why don't you try something Holly?" Viktor suggested as the only ones that Olivander had tried were cherry, oak, cedar, and bamboo. Olivander rose a questioning eyebrow but, the look turned into curiosity.

"I wonder." The man muttered and walked down one of the rows. He pulled out a thin black box and walked back over to Harry. He pulled out the black wand and handed it to the boy. "Try this." Sighing once more, Harry gave the wand a flick and a glowing light surrounded him for a moment before disappearing. The only thing stopping Viktor from jumping with joy was his upbringing. Instead he smiled widely at the shorter boy.

"No offense but, finally." Viktor said and Harry smiled in agreement.

"That is curious." They heard Olivander speak from his spot by the counter. Harry looked at him questioningly. "The brother to that wand, was the wand that gave you that scar." The man pointed to Harry's forehead in an almost foreboding way. Viktor rose an eyebrow before suggesting that they hurry as his mother was probably waiting for them at Madam Malkins. Plus, he needed to tell his mother the information he just found.

Ana looked up as Viktor and Harry walked into Madam Malkins. "Harry, why don't you go first?" Viktor suggested before walking over to his mother and setting the bag with Harry's belongings down. Harry shrugged and let Madam Malkin lead him into the fitting room. Inside were two stools with three way mirrors sitting in front of them. One stool was already taken by a boy with blonde hair that was slicked back with gel and steel gray eyes.

"Now, dear. If you'll just stand on that other stool, I need to go get my measuring tape." She said before walking out of the room. Harry did as asked and stood on the stool. The other boy looked at him curiously.

"Hey there." Harry looked at the other boy with a risen eyebrow. "Names Draco Malfoy. Are you going to Hogwarts?" After a moment, Harry answered.

"Yes. My names Harry Potter. First year." He watched as Draco's eyebrows almost disappeared into his hair.

"Hmm. Well, what house do you suppose you'll be in?" Harry remembered Viktor explaining that Hogwarts had four different houses and that a magical hat sorted you according to your personality.

Slytherin had sounded like a possibility. And, so did Ravenclaw. "Maybe Slytherin. Not entirely sure." Draco looked a bit smug and Harry rose an eyebrow.

"I'm going to be in Slytherin. Just like the rest of my family." Harry nodded just as Madam Malkin walked back in.

"Alright, let's get your clothes made." Draco and Harry stood in a comfortable silence and Madam Malkin worked.

Ana thought over the information that her son had given her as she watched him almost drag Harry towards the local healer. They had just finished buying Harry's school truck, he had bought the one that Viktor had suggested. The green and black one that had magical storage space inside. On the way to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor, Viktor had made a comment that Harry would look better without his glasses. Harry had informed him that if there was a way to correct his vision that he would do it in a heartbeat. Viktor had then proceded to drag Harry halfway down Diagon Alley. The sign on the outside of the small building said, Archley Breachett, Optical Healer.

Ana took Harry inside while Viktor disappeared into the crowd. He had stated that he would be back by the time that Harry was done before rushing off. Harry had only nodded before turning to talk to the secretary behind the desk.

Viktor walked into Eeylops Owl Emporium with his mind set on one thing. Harry's birthday present. While waiting on Harry's clothes in Madam Malkin's, they had discussed birthdays. That was when he found that Harry's birthday was today, July thrity first. As they had past this store earlier Harry had admired one of the owls in the window. A snowy owl with black edges to its wings. Viktor quickly found a clerk and told him what he wanted.

The ten minutes that Harry had to lay with a mask over his eyes finally ended. "Alright, hun. Times up. Your done!" Harry took the mask that the doctor had given him off before slowly opening his eyes. It gave him a shock that his vision was completely clear and his glasses were five feet away on the counter. Ana gave him an approving look before leading him to a mirror. Harry gasped. Viktor was right, he did look better without his glasses.

"Ready to go, Harry?" Ana questioned and Harry nodded pocketing his glasses. As they reached the reception area, Viktor walked in threw the door. In his hand was a silver cage that held the snowy owl from the store. When he saw Harry's back to him he spoke up.

"Happy Birthday, Harry!" Harry turned when he heard Viktor's voice and his jaw almost dropped when he saw the owl. He didn't notice the look on Viktor's face as he walked over quickly. Viktor almost went into shock when he saw Harry without his glasses. The boy was kind of pretty without them. Next thing he knew, skinny arms were thrown around his neck.

"Thank you, Viktor!" Harry exclaimed happily before cooing at the owl who stared out at him. Ana walked up behind them with a secret smile on her face. She had seen the look on her sons face.

"So, what will you name her Harry?" Harry looked thoughtful for a moment before smiling.

"What about Hedwig?" Viktor had snapped out of his stupor as Harry said the name.

"I like it." Harry beamed up at him and contiued to coo at the bird. Viktor gave a small smile at the happiness on the boys face. There was suddenly a knocking on the window and the three looked towards the glass. Harry looked and smiled at the half-giant on the other side of the glass.

"That's Hagrid. I guess it's time for me to go." Harry stated with a slightly saddened look in his eyes that Viktor almost didn't catch. "Thank you, so much for today Viktor." Harry hugged the boy once more before taking his bag and new owl. He was almost out the door when Viktor called out.

"Here. This is the place that I will be staying. Promise to write me?" Viktor questioned with a hopefull voice. Harry beamed at the boy again while taking the sheet of paper.

"Of course." There was a knock on the window and Harry waved good by before dissapearing out the door and down the street. Viktor looked to his mother and saw the steely look in her eyes.

"We'll have some one cheek into it." The hardness in her voice told him that his mother was very serious and cared alot about the boy already. Viktor nodded his approval before looking out the window once more. That was good because, so was he.

So, there you go. There's the first chapter. I hope that you all enjoyed it as much as I did writing it. I've already started on the second chapter. The first ten or so chapters will be innocent for the most part as the beginning of Harry's and Viktor's relationship develops. If something changes and I decide to write naughtiness before then, I will post it. Please let me know how it was. Thank you.

Jenna :)
