The Winner Takes It All
Winner Takes It All
Prologue
Its odd to be so close to the moon. It sits atop the fluttering clouds of 8,000 ft, The tiny lights of the city below glimmer in surreal dance that makes them look more like fireflies locked in dance than a static empire of industrialism. Once again I find my fate in the hands of muggles, a fate that is becoming increasingly frequent. The airplane I sit on now is small and cramped and I wish for the ease of apparation but alas that connivence has been lost with the wizarding world’s never ending insistence on assimilating into muggle society.
My mind as always drifts to him. It is some comfort to know that we are both looking at the same night sky, the same moon even if he is miles away from this spot, soon to be even more with my arrival in Louisville. What ever had possesed my mother and I to take this flight I had no idea. All I knew was that I couldn’t work another dull day at the bagel shop with out killing someone. Ron said I should get away from Edinburgh, said I needed to get away to clear my mind. I knew he meant clear my mind of Draco. Maybe he was right. Even now as I look out at the moon I can’t help but wish he was thinking of me as well. It comes with with quick realization that he is not. Still the wish is still there, lingering on my tongue as I looked for a star to unleash it upon.
I think back to the times before and it seems more surreal than the city lights that a year ago I was not with him. That a year ago, I was standing outside celebrating my graduation watching him kiss Ginny. I remember the night as clear as a vision in front of me now. Yet there was so much more than that. The clouds light up with lightening and once again I wish for home. Leaning my head back, I close my eyes and remember how for the first time I lost.
TBC
I'll update on friday or sooner.
Just to let you know because I do not like first person stories. This will not be in first person. After the prolouge everything will be in 3rd person.
Love and best wishes.
